Fun fact. Chen is so nervous while singing. He may looked relax but he's so nervous because it's his first solo album. Imagine this is better but what if he's not that nervous? You'll be blown away.. plus his visual is no joke.

oh and just a little fun fact. CHEN is the member who can hit the highest notes(along with xiumin) and he is the one who mostly does the high notes during the bridge sections on their songs, and at the same time he is the member who can also hit the lowest notes too :)

I just can't stop listening to Chen. Actually he sounds the same, with or without music. His voice just echoes.
The way he compresses his voice to add power to every lyrics is fantastic. That way, he interprets the message of the song perfectly. His falsettos are so clean. He's an expert to it.
Anything that has Chen I press. But seriously, Jongdae is an amazing singer and I’m so glad you loved him too. Listen to ‘Shall We’ from him, it’s so beautiful

Thanks Justin for your reaction. Chen was sick at that time but he wanted to sing live. They played the song and wanted from him to do lipsync but he stopped the music and sang live. I just live off from vocal coaches' compliments to Chen's vocals :'') Everything you pointed out is seriously so truee I've been noticing the same thing about chen (tho I can't explain it in technical terms lol) but I'm always impressed by the way he swings from his voice from high to low and how it seems so effortless!

Chen is a cut above. I have this mini album & every song is amazing. I only happened upon him on "King of Masked Singers"(not that ridiculous, unwatchable America attempt lol) Look for him singing "Stain". I literally held my breath. After he did the reveal, I immediately realized I'd seen him on another music show! He & Baekyun sang together on "Immortal Songs 2" they were only about a year out of debut. They were stunning! He(& Baekyun) took me to Exo. I like 2nd Gen most but they are abt very beginning of 3rd. (Depending on the dif time)I've been a fan a few months. But, definitely check out "Stain"! Chen is one of 3 Main vocalists of EXO. Each one of them are really good at their own thing. Chen has low notes, a really well mixed voice and has a large supported range. EXO as a group is at another level and should be the measure used to judge all other groups live performances. Chen, in my opinion is EXO's main vocalist and my bias.

Thank you Justin for reacting to our vocal KING Chen!! Just like you said the dynamics are just so beautiful how he switches quickly from being powerful to soft it gives it much more life! Chen's songs always never fail to impress me eventhough he sings in a different language he conveys all the emotions with his voice.
A couple of years ago he went on a show called "King of Masked Singer" where singers participate in a singing competition with a mask on and the judges judge them just based on their vocals while at the same time try to guess who's singing. He sang a song that has a very wide range from high to low and I'm really interested on how you'd analyze it (He actually won every round except for the last one where he faces off the King he was so close though, this was even in his early debut days Imagine how he has improved now!) In your reaction of EXO Monster live you commented several times that you liked the member with the bright tone the most.That was Chen! Glad you finally reacted to his solo music. I really like that you talked a lot about the dynamics in his singing, not just throughout the song but during even just one phrase. Most kpop fans think you're a good singer if you can sing high notes. Wrong! Chen shows here what makes a good singer. It's so much more than high notes. It's control and dynamics and emotion. As you said, it's what makes him such an engaging singer. I think he's a shining example of how a singer can elevate the song given to him. This song was really popular in Korea when it came out in April and it is widely covered in by younger singers/artists. Recently a vocal trainer said in a Korean show that Chen is the standard for singers: "A singer is a good singer if he/she can sing Chen's Beautiful Goodbye." Impact.
