The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Back in the day where female singers were LADY'S...a beautiful song sung by a beautiful Lady.
My first crush was Petula Clark, when I saw her sing "Downtown" on TV in 1964. I was 5 years old, and something about her captivated me like no one else before or since. Nearly 60 years later, I still have a crush on her.
I love your comment George. The Petula magic is hard to describe beyone the obvious. We will do battle for her!
Me as well
Oh là là que de souvenirs ma mère me l'a chanté cette chanson c'est gravé en mon petit cœur à jamais l'époque fut tellement merveilleuse cette voix si magnifique si douce si merveilleuse merci à vous mademoiselle Petula Clark
Very splender thingh .Eternally Petula Clarck. The best Singer in The world and The best músic of ALL times . The great Composer of Charles Chaplin.
I wnant tô say the best and never besta i did say. I am sorrow for ALL per error of english. I love Petula Clarck for ever
PETULA CLARK is THE Greatest Female Vocalist Of ALL TIME.
Stunningly beautiful, elegant with great panache with immaculate vocals to match.
Petula Clark: THE Greatest music ever made.
The dress. The Finnian's Rainbow-esque hair ribbon. Such charm & style. And she sings pretty good too.
She’s gorgeous.. I cannot speak.. so talented ❤
This is one of my favorite Pet Clark songs. I wondrr beyond the fabulous Miss Dionne Warwick, why Bacharach/David never did more with this fabulous female and THAT VOICE!!! TIMELESS.
THE MAGNIFICENT PETULA CLARK
WHO BUILD AND SHAPE THE SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES !!
Enchanting ❤
Charles Chaplin, actually. 😺
Originally broadcast May 21, 1967 from the Montreal Expo, I believe. I think the date listed in the description was a summer re-run broadcast as the season had ended by then. "This is My Song" was written by Charles Chaplin, and is one of the most beautiful songs ever composed. Also listen to the version by Harry Secombe if you haven't heard it. Both he and Petula had a major hit with the song in the U.K., quite deservedly.
😢😢😊😊😊😊 wunderbar!!!!!
The best one yet N’est-ce Pas?
Petula was filiming "Finian's Rainbow" with Fred Astaire around this time. That is the hairstyle of her character.
Minus the trademark mole on the left of her chin which Warner Bros requested she remove prior to filming.
I was just thinking the same thing! In the Jan. 1967 Hollywood palace rendition, seen here on TH-cam, she has short hair and a very short, short dress.
GREAT SINGER.....I CAN'T DO THAT FRENCH ACCENT.
😘💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕Petula
I'm still waiting to see the whole of this broadcast.

I've been watching this same video everyday since February, I think I'm becoming crazy
This song was written by Charly chaplin
Bravo Petula! Great performance of a beautiful song. Thank you for posting this. Could you please post more Connie Francis on this channel. Connie was, is and will remain the greatest of all our lady singers!
There is a great version of Born Free by Connie Francis on here.
👌❤️🌺
Petula is great, but can you please some of Nancy Sinatra's appearances on Ed Sullivan? She was on a dozen times. And preferably some songs other than "Boots" or "Sugar Town." Maybe "(I Love Them All) The Boys in the Band" and "California Dreamin'?" Thanks!
All I know her from is the song Downtown.
You now have alot of songs to catch up and choose from.
buy a greatest hits
you won't be disappointed
she was the kind of star that David Bowie's early managers were pushing him towards
they were both very proud of knowing John Lennon though
I PREFER HER RECORDINGS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE SONGS TRANSLATED INTO FRENCH OVER HER ENGLISH LANGUAGE RECORDINGS.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I DEARLY WISH THAT SHE HAD RECORDED MANY MORE FRENCH LANGUAGE VERSIONS.
Written by the great Charlie Chaplin.
0:03 FRENCH.....👍👍👍👍👍
