As good as the new z06 is, the 2RS is in another league!
I started watching your feed thinking there might be a "perfect" track car, but I'm learning it's really a personal preference and a person's budget obviously plays a big part as well. I've learned it's really just about getting out there and having fun.. am I right?

If you are selling a car at $250k plus, and a car under $125k is even being in the conversation--much less actually competitive--you lost the battle. EDIT: I checked prices. The gt2 is over $350k. It is a spectacular car. Thanks to Doc Hollywood for letting us see it!
Had a 2020 C8. No longer. Failed transmission at 80 miles and water pump. Recently, 5 recalls and bad ECU at the speedometer. Decided to trade it in. Made money on the dealer trade and purchased a minimally used Porsche 911 C2S Cabriolet. Never going back. Porsche is class and pedigree. Porsche, there is no substitute.

Agreed had a c7 z06 and just traded it in for a GT3RS. Absolutely no comparison the GT3RS is 5x better than the corvette in every way.
'23 zo6 is coming for all these cars...if it isnt crowned king..the zr1 and ZORA definitely will!!

Funny you seem shocked by its predictable composure(even if his has mods), they have more motorsports history than anyone & know how to set up a car!
When you went car shopping & chose that McLaren over a 991.2 GT3 I was baffled!. The GT3 has undisputably gone down in history as one of the best driver's cars ever made, & can easily be daily driven. AND THAT SOUND! Not to mention more reliable & a solid investment. Never too late to add one to your stable! The plus side is your quality content would add lots of subs from the HUGE Porsche fan base too! Ask Sean!

I Loved every minute of that drive. Dude you're sooooo lucky to be able to drive the cars you drive. Dreams do come true for some. I'm hoping I at least be able to get on a list for an allocation for the new ZO6.

Man Porches are a different breed, never really been a huge fan but I know a lot of people that are “Once you go Porche, you don’t go back” typa people and I’ve driven a couple but way more interested in cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Corvette! Those types of people usually like luxury cars aswell like Rolls Roice or Bentley but I wouldn’t, they’re nice but I’m a different type of car enthusiast.

Not really the car to be comparing to the C8 Z06. The GT3 is a much more appropriate comparison.

Great episode... thanks for sharing - though there is one other point you missed; as opposed to the McLaren, the GT2 will do all that it does and do it all day every day. For me, that's what makes it the perfect choice.

As an owner of a 2020 C8 and a very good condition 2012 991 Porsche standard Carrera, the styles of the cars are very different. A car like the GT2 would be, set up like this car is, a much different experience. The visibility of the Porsche; the airiness of the cabin and the way cargo can be stored, make the car an overall winner for me in terms of practicality. Driving the standard C8 which is nothing like a Z06 C8 is a tremendously more comfortable experience. Whether straight line or curves, the car feels planted and inspires confidence. Both cars require driving skills, but they are used in a different way, when curves are introduced. I like race cars for the street, but the closest I will ever come is likely my C8. Back to back drives of the two cars at say Willow Springs would likely be a more defining test than the current one. Thanks for doing this. I have no idea which of the three marks are more dependable or will cost less to maintain after a track day.
Look at Vittel and Alex BTG track days in Nurburgring. That car handle vertical and horizontal g force like a champion.
Love both Porsche and McLaren... But THIS car is something else, imo the GT2RS is a purpose built track machine. Cup cars struggle to keep up with it. The suspension is legendary, Shawn's car probably just needs some tweaking, if it feel "unsettling" to you? I'd choose this over 765 any day 👊🏻
I would hope the $300,000 Porsche is better than the $90,000 Chevy. The fact they're even comparable is astonishing, though. Can't wait to see the C8 ZR1.

That's the first I have heard of Porsche suspension having an unsettling feeling. Porsche seems to usually be praised for their suspension damping

In a drag race to 150 MPH who do you feel would win guys? This porsche, a ford gt, or the ZO6?
Ford Gt is 14.5 seconds and the Z is over 14 seconds as well from the only start sheet I've seen so far. But maybe other car mags will get quicker times? Porsche is 11.8, so unless the new Z manages several seconds improvement over the initial test, both cars are getting smoked by the GT2... Impressive considering all that drag.

For the vast majority, you buy any one of these cars for the looks driving around for all to see. No one really buys them to burn around the track. So, based on that, I would chose the Z06 because it looks killer compare to a Porsche. Just my opinion!!
At 1/3 the price, I guarantee for me the C8 ZO6 drives better ! And i own a panamera 4s.

Gt3rs/z06 c8 are much better values and they both offer better noise than the gt2rs
Exhaust note is the one area I think they fell short. Not aggressive enough

Ya the GT2 Is Fast but the Porsche styling is sooooooo Outdated , looks basically the same for 30 Years? IMO The C8 ZO6 looks Way better

The new GT3 is already better, than the most mclarens or Ferraris with only 520 hp. Imagine the new GT2 RS Version. I think the 6.3x on the Nordschleife is in Range !
But the GT3 is naturally aspirated which makes it such a good track car this car has turbos the experience is different eventhough it’s faster

Gt3 non turbos are more of a Track car gt2 is just nastalga

Haven't even watch the video but the title is bull these two cars don't even compare so many reasons turbos for one or another Port does things ahead of their time the ZO6 is impressive but it's nothing new or ahead of its time

If you ever compare a gt2rs with any America car then you don’t know about cars.
Given the price difference, the question is meaningless, really. The GT2RS is probably still better on the track, but I'd take the Z06 any time. Much better daily driver, and probably close enough on the track, especially with Z07 option. And as to looks, well, I'm guessing if both cars show up together at almost any venue, no one cares about the Porsche except die-hard Porsche fans...
On the track it's not even close, the Z06 gets crushed, GT2RS MR holds the #2 record at the ring.

@@KRGruner that's cool, the base GT3 is what the Z06 actually gets compared to anyways and the Z06 beats the GT3, the eventual ZR1 probably beats the GT3RS.
$350+K for the Porsche, and nobody knows (yet)_what a Z06 will cost. Come back after you've driven one.

You are correct. The Z06 is one level below the GT2RS (and a quarter of a million $$ below also). But I’m sure it will give it a run for it’s money with the right driver in the Z06.
@@ShelbyvsViper I love vette and no the price difference but it won't be quicker than the gt2rs! It may be a few seconds behind on a track and that's mighty impressive for price and value but on the nurburgring it will be a long way behind! I'd say it will beat the gt3rs but the zr1 is the one that will beat a lot of high end supercars at half the price! But a fully loaded zo6 is going to have a big price tag! 120k I'd guess! The zr1 will be 180 to 200k! My humble opinion! The stingray fully loaded is 90k! So the zo6 loaded 120k!!

@@mcmc1863 the new z06 will not beat the gt2rs stock form! It's just not possible! The Porsche has a lot more hp and decades of experience building the chassis! I'm a vette man and not a fan of Porsche but you have to give credit to the best and that's Porsche! They have won more le mans than any other for a reason! The gt3rs with 500hp kills the rest on track! The gt2rs is another level than that! The zr1 is the car that will do the job! The new zo6 will definitely ruffle feathers though no doubt! Let's not get carried away!!!

More lemans than any other?...well theybe been doing it for longer than corvette, on the ratio of wins per year/time of entry, not a lot in it, the C8 has dominated in the IMSA series.
Factory teams, 19 wins since 1970 for porsche, including LMP1, or what is now LMP1...since 1970, 50 years...corvette have 8 since 2000
