  • In this video a cheap ESP32 camera is interfaced and used to display real-time video on my huge ping pong LED wall. With some additional video processing nice visuals and interactive animations are created. A custom programming circuit is used to simplify the programming of the ESP32-Cam.

    Amazing work Matthias! My high school robotics team is copying your V2 wall for our pit at the Colorado Regional competition. They just got the first panel up today and IT WORKS! I wasn't sure we would be able to work it out, but they did it. When we get the whole thing going I'll post a video and send you the link. My students think they are tech wizards now! When I get home tonight I will be sending you some PayPal love. Thanks for sharing your work. This old teacher really appreciates it.

    FYI for anyone trying to run this code for yourself - apparently the v3.0.0-alpha versions of the esp32 board have some issues that prevent the code from compiling, so use v2.0.11 until it's sorted.

    I kinda miss the wiring diagram for this project.
    EDIT: aah! code mentions that the LED data pin = 2.
    I tried the v1 led wall as my first "big" project and it was quite easy to follow along. Keep up the good work.

    • @JasonRobards2
      @JasonRobards2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using the code provided in the link and I get the signal from pin IO2 (DATA 0). This differs from how it is done in the video (which shows pin IO15 - CMD). I was a little confused by the comment in the code in which I had interpreted "data pin is 2" as DATA2, not as IO2.
      Also, I'm using a 20x15 led board, so some rescaling has to be done. The code provided is a little more complex than I'm used to. Is it possible to provide a little background on the code or to direct us to the documentation you used to write this code?
      grtz,

    Is there any chance of you 3d printing some smaller diffusers than the ping-pong balls so the resolution can be increased on a video panel? I was thinking that if a fold were placed in the LED ribbon in between the LED'S so that they are butted up next to each other then the resolution can be massively increased

    The code for this project seems a little overwhelming for me. Can you please point out where do you initialize the LED matrix (I assume this is a serial array divided by number of LEDs in a row) and where do you perform a write cycle, so I can fit this code into the solution I am looking for?

    Epic work. Now get some 10 year-olds to make really nice videos with it. Or install 30 of them in the walls at clubs. Or wear a bunch of IR led's and dance in front of it in the dark.

    Hallo Bitluni,
    echt ne super Sache die du da entwickelt hast. Ich möchte dein Projekt nachbauen und wollte erstmal mit einer 8x8 led matrix die Machbarkeit testen. Soweit läuft das ganze.
    Aber leider sind die LEDs zeilenweise und nich wie bei dir "schlangenförmig" angeordnet.
    Gibt es eine Möglichkeit die Auflösung und led anordnung in deinem Beispiel auf github zu ändern?
    Danke.
