Right. hollywood drama.....suspense with no end....never getting real life, true. Ice road truckers....yeah, all the wrong type of trucks, for those winter/road/weather conditions. THEY SHOULD HAVE OLDER R MODEL Macks, with large older Mack engines, No computers: just all mechanical stuff. Camel back suspension / NOT AIR RIDE. And, 2 air dryers, with a hotbox behind cab, for heat, in case of engine failure/coolant leaks, etc. (old trucker in Alberta)
I worked along the Dalton Hiway for 15 years putting a few hundred thousand miles on 4 wheelers and yes it was a bunch of BS. Hell they even wrecked with my work Excursion that was being transported for a blown head gasket repair. They did it on a straight stretch.Carlille had a reputation as being rude with not slowing down for oncoming traffic even when that traffic slowed.
I hauled water in the drilling rigs in northern Alberta and BC. I had to freeze in muskeg before trucks like on this show could drive on. I drove out on the lakes to load water, it was no big deal but always in the back of my mind I might fall through.
Any responsible owner in that type of region would never shirk on maintenance like Hugh did, leaving staff without heaters etc. It's all BS talking about going through the ice, but nit saying "but only if I drive like a dick over ir" It's all bollocks.

Watched till the end, but this video did not say why it was canceled. And to be honest all the fake crackling sounds of ice and repeated types of non sense in the show got really old... so I'm not surprised it got canceled. I hope Hugh got nothing... he was the worst of humanity, couldn't stand him. Hope Kelly is doing well. Alex was the best character. I'd likely watch again but if Hugh came back I'd think twice if the show kept him on.
Rick was as bad as Hugh and maybe even worse. Those two regularly showed a total disrespect for laws, rules and equipment and only cared for delivering the most loads per season, at the cost of everything.
I really loved Alex too. What a lovely beautiful man, kind, polite, generous spirit, quiet nature, sense of humour and faith in the Lord🙏💕 I also liked Jack Jesse and the young lad Austin Wheeler though their relationship didn't start off well. Didn't particularly like Porkchop. Too much of a smart arse and arrogant. "Can't stop the Chop"! Well, that didn't age well did it😕
I miss the shows and still watch the old episodes. I watched till the end. I'm a trucker and am always amazed at the skills these truckers display. I live through them on the ice roads. Please bring it back !!!!

RIP Darrell Ward I believe it got canceled due to Darrell's untimely death in season 10 and they only mafr season 11 to see if it was still OK since I myself was a huge fan of Darrell and even applied to drive for him and I was also unfortunate to see the crash site on I 90 in MT where he passed the day of the accident
My friends in Alaska said the show was utter bullshit. They're also telling me about how difficulti it's going to be to have ice roads with all the melting in the permafrost.
They broadcast all the episodes,this show is still popular, people want too watch this show! They have millions of fan's, they should have ice road truckers available on DVD!
Lisa Kelly was a good truck driver on the show,they made her prove herself,driving on the ice,with a heavy load. They wanted to see if she can handle the stress! She did,and the other driver's,respected her! I wonder,if she is still a ice road trucker?
Dont miss it! Tired of the stupid stunts they did! Pulling the trailer brakes on to make the trailer slide sideways around a curve and running in the "ditch" to make some drama, just stupid. Not realty trucking.
Oh yeah running supplies to Oil fields on ice is not really trucking. Did they try and create drama sure that's what TV is for, did they create accidents no.
Lol in the first season an RTL truck fell through the ice on Waite Lake (I pumped the load over to one of our empty trucks) Hugh was the next truck behind the guy, he dirty his pants and turned up a road for just empty’s and stopped on a portage Nuna left him there for 30hrs till they profiled the ice. Driving on the ice is the easiest most boring trucking you will ever do. (Out of Yellowknife)
Non fiction programming? The entire show was full of fiction. Yes, real people do the work that was shown but none of the real people are as stupid as the characters in the show. Most of the things shown were over dramatized and just plain ignorant. All B.S.! I felt sorry for the characters being portrayed as completely brainless.

Watched it from the first episode to the last. In the beginning it was really good, but near the end, there were things done to make it look more dramatic. Those in the trucking industry caught on to the phoniness of some of it and were able to pick out the "dramatized" parts.
I literally got my AZ (cdl) because of this show. When the first show of the first season aired, I became a trucker and was fully licensed 3. Months later lol
I never made it thru the first season. After the thousandth or so video of under the ice and them just doing truly stupid stuff I stopped. It was just staged so-called reality.
As a trucker (non ice-road) I learned a lot that I didn't know about the whole concept. But ultimately it was major trumped-up drama. The under the ice shot, ALWAYS with the fake cracking sounds, the insinuation that deaths are so commonplace (they aren't), etc. Don't get me wrong, a tough job for tough folks. And another risk factor for trucking. But overly dramatic/fake.
The truck depicted in the original show was a small scale model using icing sugar for snow, they (at times took l8berties with the truth, which may have put some viewers off.
They had this on the TV at my truck driving school on day 1 while we were doing physicals and drug tests. That is the most I ever watched. Never got into it. But you could tell there was manufactured drama and bs.
The confrontations were set up and soooo fake. I'm normally not a rude person but with few exceptions these Drivers seemed to be some of the dumbest people on TV. A close second or maybe even tied with some of these guys would have been those Clowns that harvested trees on the side of mountains. Where they'd drag the trees up the mountains. I can't remember the name but the guys in the Southeast that cut trees in the swamps was a good show. Smart and hard workers.
You keep showing,"Screwy Dewey",but never mention him by name.That "clown" must have very long arms,as he was constantly,patting him self on the back!Hugh was very entertaining,Alex was by far the best man on the show as was the guy who lost his life in a plane accident.The guy who worked for "Polar" and was alway"s screwing up was hilaurious!
Because Mark was a clown and didn't pay his bills, he undercut everyone to get all the work. Now I heard he's sleeping above some dumpy bar. Lessons say no to cheap freight or you will be out of buisness.
I asked a Swedish trucker what he thought of it.

Yep, Lisa looked great on the show. She has really put alot of weight on last time I saw her, looks nothing like she did before.

My favorite bit was the animations when they showed what could kill them.
It was OK at first but got old pretty fast. The same old fake drummed up drama got embarrassingly stupid.
My brother and sister got to meet Alex and Lisa at truck fest in Edinburgh. Lisa is tiny in real life.
