      we have videos of the cybertruck with trailers moving things and delivering cars, but it's not a common occurrence, the semi is still in the test phase. You have to be really dense to think it just won't happen when there are a dozen of other hydrogen and EV semi trucks in production.

    Truck driver here...and I love they came out with this truck since everything is going emissions free....but I would like to see a hybrid model where an electric motor would assist uphill and from a standing stop at a red light to help keep up with traffic as well as a disel engine for mileage. In my opinion, that would be the perfect truck 🚚

    • @easternbiker47

      Look Up Edison Motors if that is what you're after. They make a series hybrid truck that is always propelled by the electric motors, and the diesel motor is a generator. Similar to trains. They guys who own it are pretty cool dudes too

    • @spidergoose891
      @spidergoose891 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Diesel electric was great for almost 100 years. Now, we can make micro turbines and experiment with different fuels and variations of turbines. Turbine generators will always be superior to batteries, and once done right, better than diesel generators.

    • @bcgrittner
      @bcgrittner หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s been done in Europe, I believe. There is an electric motor on the trailer powered by a super capacitor. The capacitor gets charged from regenerative braking and assists the truck diesel engine when starting or other heavy load situations. The capacitor should last almost forever. It is not a battery. An extra connection to the truck tractor is required as is a computer that tells the electric motor to assist the diesel. I don’t have numbers, but it sounds promising.

      @easternbiker47 similar to a hybrid car, a train needs the engine to run 24/7 to be able to move. Trains in most cases dont have batteries.

      That's because Elon Musk or whoever else came up with this design obviously also know these Visions from the Future too.
      I find it so funny how some people think it's just a coincidence how new stuff looks like they would be portrayed in future Movies
      when you could look just one steep deeper and realize that if you know these Visions the Designers will know them too obviously.
      Ppl don't have an empty head while designing things. Even if they didn't do it for good promotion to say "look we are the future" or something they would still have to come up with their Design based on some Vision, for example from Movies etc.
      Not sure if the guy above me unironically tried to make it into a conspiracy theory but I have seen people try that. It's so stupid. Everything is first invented in Fiction. That's pretty much the definition of the Word Fiction.

    • @eliasvonbrille

      It's really cool if you think about it because that means that you can pretty much predict how future Cities etc will look like.

      Because it's shellware, investors got scammed on this one big time.
      The shipping industry is all about efficiency. To get one of these Teslas to perform like a diesel semi, the weight of battery cells vs fuel is ridiculous. If you load the required cells on a Tesla needed to let it run as far and fast as a diesel semi, the weight exceeds 90% of the total gross volume legally allowed on highways....leaving 10% for cargo. Diesels with full tanks take up something like 15% of the maximum legal gross volume, leaving 85% for cargo.
      So with rough numbers, a single Tesla semi will only be able to transport one tenth the weight of cargo that a diesel semi could.
      One tenth.
      These won't be taking jobs any time soon.
