Rotator gear testing. That looks brutal.

One thing it´s clear, very good antenna!

Hi hope my cushcraft A3 is that good

Blimey! I live in similarly windy north Wales. I'd never install one of those antennas here, not even if I was given one free. My aluminium beam (and its directional stability) seems serene compared to that thing in a severe gale.

Don't talk about FACTS because he does not like FACTS about the WEAKNESS of Fiberglass & how it will never last as long as Aluminum by a very long time.

So don't buy one. Im not sure people give a shit.

Overrated and a bunch of BS HYPE.Aluminum is a Superior material any day of the year.

I'm guessing there was some damage to this antenna after this kind of wind.. or is this what these antennas are built for?

Ok it's fibreglass but surely not that expensive to replace then .

Most overrated Amateur Radio antenna ever manufactured.Ask them for their E & H Plane numbers & they will give you nothing but excuses. After 8 to 10 years in the sunlight all of the fiberglass will be dry rotted & need replacing.Check the facts because that is about the length of the lifetime in Florida,Arizona & other states with lots of sunlight on them. For what they cost they should last 20 years at least but they will be nothing left of any of them in 20 years while aluminum antennas will just need a new feedline.

Best antenna there is. Mine has been up for 11 years here in New Mexico, I finally have it a paint job because the clear coat on top was flaking. I waxed it every two years before that with marine wax. In 11 years I broke one drive gear in the driven element. The motors are simple to work on. It tunes anywhere in the band without a tuner, just with the controller by adjusting the elements. A multi band aluminum is much further from ideal and in 80 mph winds if it doesn't break it will surely be bent.

@@elkbow Try Waxing any antenna on a tower that does not retract or tilt over. It’s a Fact that Element Spacing is just as important as the SWR and you can not adjust that with any antenna. If a great SWR was the best feature in a antenna then a Dummy Load would be AWESOME and everyone would use one on every band.👍🎙

All antennas require maintenance, whether on a tower that's fixed or not, that's a tower issue. BTW, what's your callsign? Mine is AC5N.

@@elkbow mine is W4KVW & the only maintenance my Mosley TA-53M has required since 2004 is a new coax since my tower and antenna installer did not use the Coax Seal that I provided him but he used clear silicone and the coax filled with water as I told him it would. He did not tell me that he did not use the coax seal but I found out when a friend of mine went up and replaced the coax for me a couple of years ago and he discovered the silicone was torn badly and it allowed the water to enter the coax.I was not very happy with my original installer for not following my request since I paid him well and I provided him with all that he needed and it would have taken the same amount of time that the worthless silicone took and I assure you that water would not have gotten into the coax.I have known a couple of people who had issues with the elements becoming brittle and the metal tape rubbed holes in the bottom of the element. Also issues with motor failures from our Florida lightning strikes near them and not actually striking the antenna itself.I have not heard a station on 10 - 20 meters that I could not work with ease with the Mosley with the ICOM PW-1 and very few even just running 10 watts from my ICOM 703 PLUS.It’s very compact on the tower and the gain is very good for a 14’ boom Yagi and no tuner required anywhere on the phone portion of the band on any band.No motors to fail and it will still be working long after I’m Dead and Gone. They have been in business over 60 years because the antennas will last far longer than the owners and yes multiple owners will get the use of the antennas because they are built like a tank.I had a 30 year old TA-33Jr before switching to the TA-53M and gave it to another friend so it’s still going even today and I gave it to him in 2004 when I went to the TA-53M.I know that no SteppIR will ever last anywhere near that long without being completely rebuilt several times if then.I am happy you are pleased with it but as for me I will stick with Aluminum.👍🎙

@@1OFGODSOWN the 53M has a severely compromised F/B ratio due to that 14' boom. If I had one I would buy the add on kit to lengthen the boom to 20'. I also would get rig of the pathetic coils and contact M2 to get replacement coils. But with the price of the antenna and to add coils and the boom kit wouldn't be cost effective. Coil loaded elements will never be as effective, but the stock coils on all Mosley antennas are a joke and I know plenty of people that have had to replace them including my 33 I have at the ranch in Texas. As far as covering all bands without a tuner, well that's possible with almost any antenna, however your performance suffers greatly without proper resonance and reactance. Anytime you need to use the tuner the output isn't what a proper length antenna is for the existing factors. BTW I lived in Florida before moving to New Mexico.
