I live in iran and see your videos . Your editing is not fancy and your production is not crazy . But i still watch it only for one thing : "relevancy" . Nothing in this platform can beat relevancy and originality . I perfer to watch your videos over all the big famous youtube gurus cause fhey dont feel like youtubers anymore . The closeness and friendliness in your videos that come from this minimalist edit is much more attractive than fanct editing cause its relevant . Thank you . Wish you the best ⚘️
I agree. Even though I like editing myself it's not an important factor for me to watch a video. Authenticity and relatability is far more important. I watch because I can connect to the words being spoken and it makes me engaged in sharing. It's probably different for different niches. Some people can relate to different things, we as creators must find where we relate the most to our viewers while retaining our authenticity and passion.
I don't like fancy editing, too much fluff and feels artificial, like one of those commercials. My style probably works with the minority audiences but I think that's better than nothing. After all, I can only work around my busy schedule. That being said, I do enjoy watching informative videos on TH-cam over silly challenges hence my videos emulates those. I do enjoy a good laugh watching short skits though :)
I could agree more. I stopped watching those fancy edited channels. It’s become a turnoff for me. They are just click bait, but not giving any actual helpful tips.
Kevin, I will disagree with anyone who says yours videos are not engaging. I wait for your new video only to listen to your opinions, experiences and TH-cam journey as I too am a TH-camr. I have so much to learn from what you speak. We genuinely need honest people like you to guide us.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and strategies as always Kevin. I don't find your videos boring and I enjoy the different angle you provide on the same topics.
Your content is very interesting to me as a content creator. I felt you where talking to me on my level about the ups and downs of content creation. I feel we were on the same journey even though our channels are not similar at all.
we're all struggling I'm sure. There's a downside to what I say, it makes it hard for me to sell my service if I ever want to mentor any smaller TH-cam channels. Most go with gurus who first claim it is easy, get them to sign up, then proceed to tell them the truth. I do think I need to eventually charge to help channels at a lower level but we'll see.
I have watched your channel because you validate the struggles. A creator can follow all the right advice and still flop. It’s because the answer that’s right for your talent to reach your audience is more complex. Right now I’m dealing with my audience shifting and I need to find out what they shifted too. It’s hard to break 100 views now. Which on the positive side means I’m finally free of my 60 hour projects if they like quick and easy now!
absolutely. audiences grow as time passes so their interest changes as well. you need to constantly evaluate your channel like a business so that it continues growing. It isn't like a job where it stays consistent and predictable.
Id say your video are engaging. I enjoy them and have been around since the beginning. I do enjoy the trial and error part, I end up with alot of error and I still enjoy it. thanks for the info buddy
We appreciate you, Kevin. Your videos are always engaging and relatable. I also learned a new term: "eCPM". It's clear that you walk the talk by doing all kinds of experiments yourself. Thanks for sharing again!
I wish you are right but unfortunately no. Based on statistics, videos like this tend to be my worst performing ones. I like it but the audience gets to decide.
Hi Kevin! Love your channel! I’ve been a long time subscriber and appreciate how you get to right to the point and always keep it honest here. Sometimes it hurts but I have to hear it. lol I know I am never wasting time watching your content. Thank you for always making helpful videos. Do you have a video explaining the impression click through rate? I am not understanding why some of my videos have a higher rate but they aren’t getting pushed through. Or maybe I am not understanding how it works. thank you!
Thanks for being supportive. But no, I don't have any videos on that topic because I myself have come across such situation where my CTR is 14% yet it wasn't pushed through. I gave up in trying to aim for high CTR and instead focus on the value. In doing so, I started seeing my videos pushed for CTR as low as 5% and average watch percentage of 40%. I honestly believe aiming at the value and building that engagement contributes more than high CTR and average watch duration. They are all important and counts in how TH-cam ranks your videos so it is good to try and improve them but it is too subjective and out of our control. If you ask me, my priorities are value > engagement > community > ctr (title first then thumbnail) > watch duration Maybe I should work backwards to increase views but this direction I use does give me high subscription rate.
@ Hi Kevin Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my question and sharing your personal experience. Your strategy makes total sense. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️🙏🙏🙏😄
Mine's all scripted word for word lol.. it helps prepare myself and imagine how I should present in the video so that my recording doesn't go that long.
born and raised in Msia first 18 years of my life. Still speak fluent Malaysian (or Singlish?) . Can't get read of the accent, it is embedded within me. 🙂
@KevinChee well then do as you like for now, but I personally believe shorts don't bring any new viewers, they just get recommend mostly to your active subscribers and viewers, shorts category is mostly for those who makes only shorts videos, and they can be beneficial if you actually manage to bring your shorts viewers in your long form videos, as they are supposed to work better for new channels to get more viewers in less time. So in your matter I believe you make good shorts who can carry viewers till the end, so keep doing maybe they might work for you.
i noticed I have to type of videos that do well in my niche. Talking about cars, and solar power saving you money. I am an expert in solar power and an x car body mechanic. My solar guide sells well now that I have a shop page. shop pages upped my channel in search. great video you really helped my channel grow thank you I know just made 120 my first payout.

I agree 💯👍 he tells it straight and I feel like he's the guy that stops at your house to encourage you to keep it up!
to each of its own I guess. I do get a lot of comments saying my videos aren't engaging lol.. but you know, you can't satisfy everyone :)
I agree and i also like Kevins voice
@@artofliferevolution its my accent isn't it? a mix of everything!
@@KevinChee not really about accent just the quality of your voice is soothing to listen to. Your accent sounds American to me.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and strategies as always Kevin. I don't find your videos boring and I enjoy the different angle you provide on the same topics.
I should start consolidating those that are serious and start creating videos for you guys
I'm only 20+ videos in and I'm trying two different styles. It's a long road but I'm learning so much! Thanks for always teaching it straight!
good luck

acknowledging (and fixing) the errors is key!

Glad you learn something. Gonna know the buzzwords to understand which direction to go
I watched like 4,5 vids...you seem sincere in your talks unlike the gang of these gurus nowadays..i must subscribe..keep up the good work man 💪
thank you. Sharing my advice based on experience, not a guru myself. Putting it out there :)
Agreed on every point you said, I've been testing and exploring strategies to gain more viewers, increase watch time, and boost growth potential.
That's good. once you start exploring, you will improve along the way
This is really well made with great points man
cheers!
Your video is in 10 minutes and you BEAT the algorithm......
Nah, missed it by 1 second!
It's great to learn from new TH-cam creators.
Excellent stuff!
This video is engaging and should have a lot of watch time. It’s because it’s informative rather than empty promises of other TH-camrs.
I wish you are right but unfortunately no. Based on statistics, videos like this tend to be my worst performing ones. I like it but the audience gets to decide.
@KevinChee I watched the whole thing. I wish you continued success though. And yes, the audience determines everything.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Welcome!
Hello dear friend . I have been following you for a long time . I gave up planning anything . Thanks for your consistent work .
Sometimes not planning is a plan itself!
I just and only do things for the cultural and artistic aspect of it . ☀️☀️👑
Thanks for this information 😊!

Interesting as usual🎉

🎉 thanks for another banger video. I’m currently planning my first video on yt. All this info helps
Don't forget the holiday season is coming and that's when YT traffic is mostly down. Make sure you launch it at least 1 week before Christmas
You gained a sub and follower bro🎉

I think it helps to have lots of topics like you said and just be honest in all the content and dialogue, I think people can sense scripted.
Mine's all scripted word for word lol.. it helps prepare myself and imagine how I should present in the video so that my recording doesn't go that long.
@ yeah lol I guess to clarify is that the script has to sound natural.
Just curious, were you from singapore or malaysia previously? Asking because your accent sounds similar to where i’m from
born and raised in Msia first 18 years of my life. Still speak fluent Malaysian (or Singlish?) . Can't get read of the accent, it is embedded within me. 🙂
@ i can empathise 🤣
Hi, I am thinking to delete content with poor views. Is it okay? Or will it hurt my channel and affect algorithm? Thanks!
Feel free to unlist (not delete) them if you feel they are no longer relevant or bad
@KevinChee thank you.
There is no such thing as beating it. over 5 years on YT and no better off than day 1.
good job to you
Hi kevin , my RPM is 0.25 USD xD
is that good or bad?
I did not beat the Algorithm I lost it I lost 10 subs in 2 minutes 💀
you're a hero
I lose subs all the time too! 😢
Bro you should stop uploading shorts, they really affects videos engagement
really? my recent videos seems to be flying since I started shorts a few days ago
@KevinChee
