You MUST know „Zombie“ by the Cranberries! There‘s nobody who doesn‘t know this song! And if you don’t know it, it should be up next! Their third famous song is „linger“, which has a similar feel like „Ode to my family“
This breaks my heart, knowing she’s gone. I’m a full blown metalhead and have been for 38 years, since I was 12. I’ve been to more concerts than I can count, and the single, only non metal concert I ever went to was The Cranberries. After hearing Dolores’ voice, I had to see her live. I instantly fell in love with her voice as soon as I heard it. She was absolutely ethereal in concert and her vocals were so spot on it was awe inspiring. There were subtle differences, so you knew you were hearing her live performance, but it could have been the album vocals if you weren’t paying too much attention. I was just in awe of her, her presence and her talent. When I heard she had passed and joined the ranks of other phenomenal voices to never be heard anew again, I was absolutely heartbroken. To pass on the eve of going into the studio to lay down vocals on Bad Wolf’s cover of Zombie….that was so incredibly sad to hear. The cover came out great, but her vocals would have turned the cover into a force of nature. Now she’s in the company of greats like Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, etc. She is so sorely missed. Even though I didn’t know her personally, her singing meant a lot to me, as her songs are tied to very specific times of my life, like the birth of my first and only child. When I heard she passed, I shed tears, and I’m not afraid to admit that.
A soft, mostly quiet yet resonant song. You can hear the strains of family, love and experience in it. Many years ago, I sent a digital copy of it to my mom for Mother’s Day. She is the other major music fan in our family; I’m certain I get my love of it from her. And she liked it a lot, saying that it was very poignant and sweet. Which I agree with. R.I.P. to Delores, thank you for the music and the touching odes to many things.
MORE CRANBERRIES PLEASE! 1. Zombie (which you certainly have heard. Must watch official video to get the full impact) 2. Dreams 3. Linger (first hit, which she wrote as a teenager)
World has lost a great talent when she's gone. So sad. Thanks for sharing your insights on her beautiful voice, I'd definitely like to see & hear more from her here 💕
What a lovely choice to start a Cranberries journey. It is a thing of beauty and shows their talents well. Most start with "Zombie" and I would suggest that next. RIP Delores.
I enjoyed your technical analysis, not that I understood all of it! :) One of my favourite Cranberries songs is Dreams. That's an unusually upbeat and optimistic song! It's been in a few movies and TV shows.
The "yodel" as you call it is an Irish tradition called Keening. It's not quite as obvious with Sinead O'Connor but she does it too. Check her out too👌
Delores had an extraordinary voice. I really loved your reaction here. I like others would suggest Zombie which she portrays her ability to insert a power into her vocals that breaks me every time I hear it.
Jennifer! I'm not super familiar with the Cranberries but this is a really nice song. Listening to Dolores sing it's clear it was a big loss when she died. Near the end where you're describing the feel of the song we both used the word "longing" at the same moment. She's remembering her childhood and her relationship with her parents as happy but maybe something came between that and she's longing for the happy childhood. Really interesting song. I liked it as well. Great reaction and analysis as always Jen.
Absolutely amazing band they classed themselves as alternative rock band, you must checkout the Cranberries original song called Zombie the music video , as the video explains the meaning behind the song, the song Zombie was a No1 hit in 26 countries, great reaction thanks 🙏
Great breakdown 👏 Delores amazing voice was single handedly responsible for somehow making a Limerick “cool” in the 90s (quite an accomplishment as to some ears it’s an accent that has more sharp edges than a bag of hammers 😉)
Even in my most Metal days, I could always stop and listen to The Cranberries. The band just sounded "right" to me. Add her voice to that band and no wrong could be done.
The Cranberries and Delores were exceptional. Jen, I imagine you could do a Cranberries week like you have done with Home Free and others. :) They have plenty of songs you could react on. :) Slainte mhaith!
I was lucky enough to see them live in the mid/late 90's, i loved them so much. She was a tiny woman, 5'2 but her voice.......... the power that came out of that tiny frame was astounding. I loved the way she sung, and not hiding the Irish twang while singing. Im not one to get overly emotional when a celeb passes, but her death hit me hard. Theres only two famous people that died and it affected me in a way. Her and Chester Bennington. Maybe because i loved their music a lot, not sure. But both were a big loss. :(
I found The Cranberries years ago on a soundtrack for the Brad Pitt/Harrison Ford movie, "The Devil's Own". And have been fascinated with Delores' voice ever since! A real talent gone way too soon. 😢
Zombie is probably their best known song. It is about The Troubles. Watch the official video first. She had arranged to lend her vocals to a cover by Bad Wolves, but was found dead the morning she was supposed to be in the studio. They released it in tribute - another good option to watch after seeing the original.
Haven't looked below, but I'm guessing I'm not the first... Try their song Zombie. IMHO, this entire album, 'No Need to Argue' is a masterpiece, with Zombie being the pinnacle. Love Delores... another voice that was silenced far too early.
Salvation, Dreams, When You're Gone and free to decide are all incredible as well, all songs you cannot die before listening to, check them out later, even if its not for youtube ;)
Love your reaction! Dolores’ voice is so beautiful and angelic! Love those beautiful yodels she does. Would love to check your reaction of Zombie, which is a way darker song and features kinda different approach by Dolores. Prepare your tissues!
It's not Yodelling hun it's called Keening,it's a type of wailing for people that have died. There are Keening wailing songs you can listen to and find out 🙌
Hello, this video starts up really bad, when you say you do not know The Cranberries. But it can be forgiven. Maybe. This is how. Lately, I have listened to virtually all possible reaction/analysis videos on their songs, and yours is by far my favorite. So, thank you for the nice analysis. Now, if you actually want be forgiven for your dreadful sin, and if you genuinely liked Dolores' voice, you shall not stop here. "Ode to my family" is a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful song, but it is a sweet, delicate one and it does not showcase her greatness in full. And you have one aggravating factor: you actually did comment on "Zombie", but you picked a cover - a funny, interesting one to be fair, but, as often the case, a lost cause when compared with the original version when the original version is so epoch defining. Fine. But do you really want to miss out on one of the most incredible performances in the history of rock music? So, I am begging you, please do it, do "Zombie" by Cranberries (make sure to use the original video, not the live version; and make sure you have tissues nearby), I am sure lots of people out there really want to hear you commenting on Dolores O'Riordan magical voice, deep interpretation, subtle acting and human engagement at its best. You surely have seen the video by now, so I wonder, can you really not comment on that? If you will, together with my forgiveness for ignoring the band till this video, I will pass you a few suggestions of barely known, incredible voices that might tickle your curiosity. Here is a teaser: th-cam.com/video/VNE0mvsERqI/w-d-xo.html
Do a reaction to Zombie & official video (turn-on captions ~ lyrics), but with Zombie it is critical to listen to song thru first & just enjoy, be amazed, touched. Then analyse after you have recovered! Context. it is about an IRA bombing in Warrinton that killed two boys and Dolores anger that it was done in the name of Ireland, done in her name (watch Fergal on the drum, represents her anger & frustration). Really powerful song, don't know anything else like it
just have to say, i think you're the only person make a video on this song that visibly reacted to the sad children... basically shows how fraudulent the other "reaction" channels are... they're vultures pretending to care about something, imo. Anyway, I love your reactions and explanations of all the vocal techniques singers use
Really really REALLY wish folks would LISTEN first and then go back and re-listen before offering analysis. This constant stopping\starting\backing up is super annoying.
Great react! Love this channel. Please, can u eeact to Everything I Said and Disappointment and Daffodil Lament? The three great vocals in crittical reviews.
Thanks for watching!! I'm so excited to share with you some more of our original music!! Click here to support - gofund.me/575975e5
“Don’t Analyse” from another of their songs 😉
Always loved The Cranberries and her voice. A massive loss when she passed on.
That ain't no shit!
The yodel is actually keening, Used in Irish lament singing when words cannot express the grief. Also used by Sinead o Connor.
You MUST know „Zombie“ by the Cranberries! There‘s nobody who doesn‘t know this song! And if you don’t know it, it should be up next! Their third famous song is „linger“, which has a similar feel like „Ode to my family“
Makes a change for someone NOT to do "Zombie"...American s are particularly prone to react to that🎩
Hoping for the zombie reaction analysis
This breaks my heart, knowing she’s gone.

Oh my, I miss her so much.
She was so unique. And almost everything from the Cranberries was wonderful.
To me, one of the most beautiful vocalists of all time. I'll admit I shed a tear when I heard she'd passed.
Me too...

I dont know what it is but irish singers have some sort of magic to them. Just the tone. The emotion. Sometimes that yodel. Its just magic.
It's unique. RIP Dolores.
thx for that Jennifer.
RIP Dolores 😪
Cranberries is one of the best❤..RIP Dolores 😢
MORE CRANBERRIES PLEASE!
1. Zombie (which you certainly have heard. Must watch official video to get the full impact)
2. Dreams
3. Linger (first hit, which she wrote as a teenager)
one of the most beautiful voices in rock history! ♥
I enjoyed your reaction, Delores was a wonderful singer shame she left us so young
Quite a unique voice and sound, thanks Jen 😊
World has lost a great talent when she's gone. So sad. Thanks for sharing your insights on her beautiful voice, I'd definitely like to see & hear more from her here 💕
Dolores is keening, Irish lament singing which sounds like a yodel. Most Irish female sing with keening.
Love her voice and emotive personality. So unique and touching - no other vocalist has touched my soul as deeply as Dolores. 😢✌🏼❤️
What a lovely choice to start a Cranberries journey. It is a thing of beauty and shows their talents well. Most start with "Zombie" and I would suggest that next. RIP Delores.
Will definitely be looking at more 😊

Probably 6 times a year I still find myself sad about Dolores no longer being with us. 😢
Delores had an extraordinary voice. I really loved your reaction here. I like others would suggest Zombie which she portrays her ability to insert a power into her vocals that breaks me every time I hear it.

Having been in NI during the troubles i have to say I still livr with it today. Wonderful people so divided, pretty much like the USA today. Sad!!😢😢
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤

the cranberries are a top tier band. you've started a heck of a journey here. theyre incredible.
DREAMS is a nice one, and so is ANIMAL INSTINCT. For something a bit different you could try PROMISSES and The Icicle Melts
Even in my most Metal days, I could always stop and listen to The Cranberries. The band just sounded "right" to me. Add her voice to that band and no wrong could be done.
Originally released 30 years ago! Remixed in 2020. I wonder how things changed? Great reaction.
Oh thanks for sharing that!
Definitely check out Zombie and I would also recommend my favorite Cranberries song: When You're Gone
This song was played over n over on MTV among all rock songs wave...
The Cranberries and Delores were exceptional. Jen, I imagine you could do a Cranberries week like you have done with Home Free and others. :) They have plenty of songs you could react on. :) Slainte mhaith!
Yes ☺️ i’m sure I could!

Wait till you react to ZOMBIE by them. 👍🍀 Also LINGER, and DREAM.
Really surprised you didn’t do Zombie first. Their most popular song by far. Really powerful also.
Zombie is obviously a popular one of theirs, but I'd love to see Dreams

They're from Limerick down the south of Ireland ,they've a very strong and regionally particular accent
just have to say, i think you're the only person make a video on this song that visibly reacted to the sad children... basically shows how fraudulent the other "reaction" channels are... they're vultures pretending to care about something, imo. Dolores was one of the greatest
“Zombie” is a bit of a dirge. It’s supposed to be. But it’s not very representative of the band. This song is far more their style.
Sounds Irish
song interruptus award winner
linger react
Far too many interruptions for me. 😩
