For example, a month ago, one person commented on how Joker should die by Batman's hands. That's where you stuck your nose. You talked about humanity. I believe you wanted to make a fair point, but you sir failed. You made absolutely no point at all. You just talked on how humans have been killing each other 3.4 million years, and how the world can carry on without dodo and T-rex. Please, get back to the subject if making a fair point is your goal. Thanks.

I agree with this video 100%. Joker is remorseless, and even gleeful, about his crimes. He takes endless pleasure in every single torture and death he inflicts, and he SHOULDN'T be able to use insanity for every single offense, because - while he can't remember anything about how he became the Joker or before he became the Joker due to his "multiple-choice origin" - he CAN remember, and is always fully aware of, many of his crimes. He remembers and takes a lot of joy in the death of Jason Todd, as well as shooting Barbara and other such misdeeds. He literally says "here's to crime" as Barbara is bleeding on the floor, acknowledging that the act is a crime. He deserves the death penalty - his is EVERYTHING that the death penalty should be used for. But, unfortunately, he always seems to escape NO MATTER WHAT, so I don't think he'll ever wait long enough for court proceedings to get to that point, or for the execution itself.

She only ever heard what HE wanted her to hear, not what SHE wanted to hear. Besides, the only way she COULD love him is if she believed that, on some deep level, he was stable and/or sane. I have two comments for this thread.
The first, is that I’m surprised nobody’s hired Deadshot to put a cap in the clown’s skull yet. If the only way is a sniper, then Deadshot’s the man you want to talk to, and I’m sure Joker’s pissed off someone who can afford to foot Deadshot’s bill.
The second, is that if Harley’s notes that Joker is in fact faking his insanity were to be released, then the Joker’s next arrest would’ve had him going straight to the injection table. That being the case, he decided that he needed to break Harley and discredit her by making her insane so nobody would believe the notes. I think he saw her becoming as devoted to him as she is as a lucky windfall. It reminds me of a character in one of my favorite book series. He’s a demon who’s been playing the part of the insane fool for over 50000 years so he can work behind the scenes and manipulate events in a way that neither gods or demons notice. The only difference is that Tizzy uses the role to remain unnoticed, while the Joker uses it to remain untouchable.

You know, this brings up an interesting point; why hasn't Joker been sentenced to death? Why hasn't a court of law sentenced him to death?
Of course, the real reason is DC likes keeping such a great character around, but in-universe? How is the Joker not dead yet? I mean, if not Batman or the courts, how has no other crime lord that has been injured by the Joker have him killed?

    • @danukil7703
      @danukil7703 7 ปีที่แล้ว +54

Of course, the audience would complain if the Joker was killed off, and I suppose I just don't understand US law enough (especially the legal system in the DC universe) to see why the Joker, after all this time, hasn't been deemed a serious threat worthy of the death penalty.

Here is a question, instead of leaving it in Batman's hands forcing him to do something he doesn't wanna do, or for the most part, the game of, how long can Batman hold out on not killing Joker, how come the Justice System hasn't killed him yet???
I mean the guy has done which I think we can all agree on, a TON of stuff that would send a normal person to the chair 15 times over, and heck doesn't even have to be the chair! I mean when you think about it, they just keep putting a guy in a crazy house that they know for a fact won't change him, and even more so he can get out just about anytime he wants really. Seems to me that Justice needs to step up it's game!
I mean I am not stupid, I know story wise it would be a fast end to a great character...who in the land of comics would show back up a year or so later (lol), but it's one of those things to me that, shouldn't even be force into Batman's hands, heck he does enough just putting some of these over the top crazy in the law's hands so they can stop the crazy killings and stuff, the most the Justice system can do is it's half of the job....then I also know that in the real world there would be some stupid rule or law giving the Joker rights because of the fact it was Batman that stopped him!

A pragmatist could disagree, so could a utilitarian and even a virtue ethicist; like Aristotle.
The Joker has shown no signs of rehabilitation, but shown all the evidence necessary to argue for permanent removal of his presence for the safety of society. No one has been able to offer a diagnosis, no one but Harley. in a comic before, she was manipulated into the abusive relationship, she concluded that the Joker was in fact; not mentally ill and should therefore be imprisoned for life or executed.
Even if he is mentally ill, I would still argue that killing him is lesser of two evils. Where leaving him alive is the greatest evil.
Batman cannot kill him due to his trauma, but anyone else could (and should).

DarthLesbian420 i personally feel that most comics try to paint a line between good an evil, Batman is Good and the joker is evil. So they try to keep it simple and in order to prevent the story from abruptly ending they keep the villains alive unlike how most people wouldn’t in the real world. That joker alone is responsible for the deaths of millions literally he nuked a city and killed Superman’s unborn son and wife (injustice video game) people like that cannot be helped in their society. Then we look at anti heroes like the punisher a man that was a Vietnam war hero that did nothing wrong and fought for his country had his family stripped away from him for no reason other then the mafia simply deciding to kill them. And so he end killing a lot of people HE deems evil most being regular criminals that can be habilitated. I personally feel that’s he’s right to mourn and take revenge because ik damn well I would the same thing in his predicament(having his combat experience ect) but idk it’s all up to how we the readers and viewers feel

    Imagine the following idea-
The batman is faced with the worse dillema- kill the joker or let millions die. No third option. He does the deed, and feels nothing new. Killing isn't an infection to your morality, just an act, sometimes a necessary one.
He then continues to be less soft on other criminals he fight. Poof, the penguin got one punch to the head to many, blood vessels in his brain can't hold the force of the punch too well. Another one bites the dust. Oh well, who cares, it was for the better. Then lex Luther gets a batarang a bit too dip in his forehead. And slowly, batman ain't so tight on this killing thing. Even on petty crimes, such as small theft. What? That's how his parents die.
And thus, a new version of injustice is created.

Your argument could also be said about batman in general. All of the goons he has put in a hospital I bet a lot of them have died. What will he do when he finds out one of jokers henchmen died because he hit his head on the floor when batman threw a batarang at him? Will he start a clearly irrational descent into a murderous authority? Or will he realize that sometimes people die and that doesn't mean killing is acceptable? Keep in mind that we're talking about possibly the smartest guy in the planet. I think the most intelligent person would choose the latter. Of course Superman went crazy with power, he was raised in a farm. Individual people are different, they react to situations differently.

I've always considered it a weak excuse on batman part, unless batman isn't well in the head himself. There is a clear line to draw at killing someone (self-defense etc) and simply not drawing the line (killing everyone or not killing anyone). Joker is pretty much among the worst criminals (human-tier, not counting planet destroying entities) there are, drawing the line on being like joker would mean killing very few people that are equal or worse than joker. In addition to that joker in many depictions (if not all, not sure about it) is pretty much irredeemable and can't be contained (temporarily at best) making other more humane approaches completely ineffective and inevitably leading to more deaths and destruction caused by joker.

If Batman killed the Joker then he’d be exactly what he’s fighting. He’d just be the same as the the man who killed his parents. You can say that he would prevent the joker from killing more, but he doesn’t have the right to decide who lives and who dies, that’s not his job. That’s for the law to decide, hence why he takes his enemies to their perspective prisons upon capture. He isn’t the law. Here’s a few examples of what happens when someone kills the joker:
Exhibit A: the batman who laughs, this version of batman killed the joker, and you know what he did after? Wiped out the entire population of his earth and many others across the multiverse. He stopped the joker from killing, and ended up killing well over a 1000x more people than the joker ever did himself.
Exhibit B: Batman in Titans, during the illusion created by trigon in Dick Grayson’s head, he killed the joker, then killed the rest of his enemies like two face and the riddler, then started killing innocent people including his friends, police, nurses, etc.
Exhibit C: Superman in Injustice, kills the joker after he tricked him into killing his pregnant wife, which leads to him enslaving the planet, killing any criminal he could get his hands on including petty thieves and the likes, kills his own friends just for even harbouring the thought that he had gone too far.
There’s a few examples, and there are plenty more if you want them.

@@Delete240 What kind of kindergarden level morality do you operate on? Joker is a mass-murdering psychopath with enough crimes on his rap sheet to receive consecutive death sentences; Joe Chill is just a random street thug. The two of them don't even remotely compare. That's like saying "If you kill Pol Pot, then you're no better than Jeffrey Dahmer". How does that make any sense in your head? By your own logic, when a cop shoots an armed criminal, he's no better than the criminal. No, that's not at all true. Also, will you people stop with the whole "if you kill him then you're no better than him" argument? That crap has lost its relevance by the time it's been established that Batman can only sustain his moral high ground by letting the Joker live so he can go on killing more people, which effectively renders Batman's moral high ground worthless. He cares more about his principles than about the suffering of others. The difference between a good person and an evil person is that a good person genuinely cares about the consequences of their actions as well as the suffering of others; evil people don't care who they hurt because they actively enjoy causing suffering to others. Killing a bad person to save others does not, under any moral standard, make you as bad as them.
Also, really? It's not Batman's place to decide who lives and who dies and he should let the law decide? Hello? Earth to Kian Hall! Batman is a vigilante. Do you know what that is? It's someone who undertakes law enforcement without legal authority. As a vigilante, Batman is unaccountable to the law. He has no reason to respect Gotham's laws because he's not a cop or a detective or a sanctioned operative. Speaking of which, are we actually talking about Gotham's notoriously corrupt and criminally negligent penal system? Are we talking about Arkham Asylum, a place that is outright notorious for its sheer inability to contain its detainees? You want Batman to leave criminals in the hands of such a corrupt system? Yeah, sure, look how well that's working out. Does the term "sisyphean task" mean anything to you?
Also, are we actually gonna weigh the pros and cons of killing Joker on account of a bunch of stories that are so utterly contrived that they might as well have been specifically written to give Joker a reason to exist?
Speaking of which, you do realize that when Superman killed Joker, he had already lost his wife, his unborn child and his entire city to that maniac? It wasn't the act of killing Joker that broke Superman -- it was the fact that Joker broke him in such a way that there's no way anyone could walk away from a tragedy like that with their sanity intact. Seriously, what would you have done in his stead? Never mind the fact that in the Injustice comic it was very blatant that if anyone had actually reached out to Superman and tried to help him by appealing to his better nature, he would've never become a ruthless tyrant. Instead, he had to endure 5 years of being egged on by virtually everyone, including his so-called friends whose opposition drove him to more and more extreme measures. Superman didn't just have "one bad day" -- he had several bad years that made him into the monster he eventually became.
I swear, you people will come up with the dumbest excuses to justify Batman's lawful stupid behavior.

More so okay than the other ones. Batman's legit bookoo-kookoo (crazier than the Joker) if he thinks he's keeping his "one rule", yet so obviously murders people every time he goes on patrol.
Batfleck is the most sane one; he doesn't have a "one rule", he realized (presumably after Robin's death) that it doesn't work and faces the reality of the deaths he's caused. He doesn't necessarily go out of his way to kill people, but he has no problem with it should it be the best/most convenient course of action.
Logically, Batman thinks it's okay to kill KGBeast in order to save Martha Kent. I've got no problems with that. Him killing people doesn't send him over the edge, it just makes him far more effective.
"Heroes killing their villains" isn't what causes Injustice. That is what Marvel heroes do all the time, and no one's suffering from it. Injustice happens when a hero purposefully lets his villain go too far. In other words, Batman's refusal to kill the Joker, which allows him to nuke Metropolis and kill Lois, is what caused Injustice, _not_ Superman killing the Joker.

Hollow Man it pissed me off so much how Zack Snyder decided for Batman to kill blowing thugs up left and right, because it goes against Batmans character and his virtues unlike in Batman the animated series. I understand Superman making a quick decision to remorsefully kill Zod but Batman just nonchalantly killing criminals in BvS left a bad taste in my mouth and they had Batman kill just so Snyder could have a dark and serious movie which im fine with dark and serious but not changing what makes a character that character! I can put up with Batmans brutality like in the Arkham games but not crossing the line to kill which I think takes such discipline and self control. But what about this!? Batman takes Joker as his prisoner liker Rick did with Negan in Walking Dead, Batman would feed him but cut off his arms and legs, blindfold and put headphones on Joker so he doesnt know where he is. Its inhumane but... LOOPHOLE!

I don't think Batman should kill the Joker nor anyone for that matter. The Joker is just too "broken" of a character that he causes a dilemma to Batman and others. Joker doesn't believe in the idea that he "can be saved" or if there's anything of him to be saved. He wants to push Batman and frankly anyone over their limit. When that happens, he wins even at the cost of his life. As what we seen in games like Arkham Knight or when he skinned his face to send to Batman, the "idea" of the Joker and the victory he gains with forcing a situation of killing him preserves "him" even after death.
In Injutsice, Superman's actions of killing the Joker was the Joker's everlasting victory on the world as he made one of the most respected heroes that were a beacon of light go to the point of no return.

    RWBY
In RWBY, at the penultimate finale of Volume 6, Blake and Yang kill Adam by impaling him through with the fractured shards of Gambol Shroud. Adam had previously vowed to destroy everyone and everything Blake loved as retaliation for "ruining his life", inflicted grave wounds on both her and Yang, and had stalked Blake across a continent to interfere with her: it's very clear he would never have stopped hunting the girls as long as he was alive, so their killing him is not presented in any unheroic way.
    Samurai Jack
Samurai Jack: In season 5, Jack is at first horrified that one of the Daughter of Aku he killed was human like he, not a machine as he had previously thought. But after recovering with the help of a wolf, he stands his ground and kills off almost all the Daughter of Aku when they strike again.
