Hey Anthony great content. We break down our Clean ups as First Time Cleaning and One Time Cleanings. We would never do an initial clean up free because as you mentioned they can be extremely difficult based on the amount of waste, terrain such as rocks, leaves etc. We price First Time Cleanings (ongoing service) a bit less than a One Time Cleanings. Those that only want to have the yard cleaned One Time must pay more because they are not continuing service. There is the option to provide a free scoop after the First Time Cleaning as a promotion. That 2nd cleaning is easy when we thoroughly clean a yard.
Just did my first job, and there's no way I would do this for free lol. This job is as hard as any other factory job. Planning to maybe not even scoop next year and move into another business.
You did your first job and you're thinking about doing something else?
Yeah, I didn't realize there was alot of scooper in my area of a population size of 200k in a 25 mile radius. One person is charging 9 bucks to do a yard. Maybe it's the economy or my area doesn't need scooper. I have lower my price to the bare minimum and even running facebook and google ads isn't helping much.
Who cares what your competition does? Charge higher prices and provide more value to your customers, there is no benefit being the cheapest business
@@bonglee5400 They may be charging 9 a yard, but they won't last long because any sane person would see that's not worth it. Don't de-value your worth. That 9 a yard, I'm sure they don't care all that much to do that good of a job. I know what my customers pay me and I show them how it's worth that in my service. If they don't want to pay, that's not a customer you want. It's not a hobby, you are there to provide a service to get paid.
@@PoopScoopsForNoobs kinda hard when I'm getting no client. The only client I had, she hasn't paid the other portion of the spring cleaning inovice yet.
I just did my first job. I had originally was going to stick to my weekly price i quoted because i sort of forgot the inital clean up fee......well the customer said no. She asked what the inital cost would be and she paid me accordingly. Not all customers are like that. I will charge an initial clean up fee from now on
You got extremely lucky as most people will never try to pay more if they don't have to
What's jobber routing like? Does it optimise well? Does it have colour coding for different service users for different days?
Thanks 👍
You can color code individual techs so you know which areas are being handled by which person, the routing feature works decently well updating for the most optimal driving and I've been happy with it 🙏
Good video, Anthony. I personally won't be trying FREE SCOOPS, but maybe down the road, it may happen. I have a question, I pre bill my service for the month, but what do you do when it's a month with five weeks? Like for one dog bi weekly I charge $50 a month. Thanks my dude...keep being awesome.
Great question! You get the average cost for your service: let's say you charge $25 for one dog every two weeks, you multiple $25 * 26 weeks (since you're only going half the time) and divide that by 12 months. So at $25 every other week their monthly price would be $54.16 and you won't have to worry about how many weeks are in a month.
How about half off for a limited amount of customers?
Any kind of offer will work if it's compelling enough to your target audience
i don't get this. free one time cleanup? for what purpose? just for the hope that they'll sign up for recurring?!!?1
Great question! When you consider the Lifetime Value of a client can be around $1500-2000+ when they sign up for recurring services, some companies are willing to sacrifice the income during the one time/initial cleaning so they can make more in the long run. If you live in snowy climates, I do not recommend doing free clean ups because picking up poop after the snow melts is physically taxing.
Try in a 100 plus degree weather. No free scoops on initial
Exactly!! I don't think free on initials is healthy for the longevity of a smaller business owner
