Great job my friend ! Great job ! Thinking we are going to be doing the same thing on a smaller scale on our Troy Bilt Horse ! It should work, at least it does in my simple little pea brain ! The handlebars are able to adjust off to the side by about a 45° angle, and moves our walking path out of the freshly tilled soil ! Have seen it a few times here, so time to quit talking about it, and just get it done !
The down side is...once your lumber wares away after 25 years of use , you will have to replace it! Lol....great job mate, I’m gonna build me one of these . Thanks.

So even after having ideas on how to make it better I have not been able to use it again. But one day I will ramp back up and have the space to use it and the tractor again! I been thinking about how to use a 13hp Honda motor that was given to me. I have a piece of land that I need to fill up and I don't have a tractor. So I could build a rototiller and have it so I could put the motor on it quickly. I have some tires around here that I could use to make it mobile. I got a friend with a junk yard down the road that I could get an axle at then shorten it and make it turn the tines. I used to work a lot down round Houma and Galliano. Heard the accent and had to subscribe. God bless you brother.

Don Pfeiffer thank you for the kind words. If it helps. I used 11 inch wide wood from the saw mill. 1 1/4 inches thick. The plate for the bracket that attaches to the tiller is 4 inches wide x 11 inches long. The other plate that is welded to that is 6 inches wide and 11 inches long. The boards were cut 42 inches long then we tacked the plates together and moved the ends of the boards towards each other to 32 inch tops screwed the board across the top to hold it down and welded the plates together. I have a 6 foot tiller that I was using. A 36 inch bed would be a much better size than the smaller I was making. Too much dirt was pushing over the sides with mine. I am sure it would do great at 36! Good luck and have a great week! Gro Dat!!

TheMachiningman I cannot take the credit for it. I watched many videos from great people on here and put this together. I have a 6 foot tiller. I used boards that were 12 inches high and 6 foot long. The width of the row you can determine. I wanted mine 32 inches wide so I bent the wood in and secured to where the row would come out the back at 32 inches.

I bet with the corner of a board in the center of your top piece, you would have a simple furrow maker. and you are a brave man to stand right on the back of that when he engaged that tiller on that ground! lol. I would have had pieces of rock shards coming out of every piece of my body just so my wife would be able to say " damn you old fool, standing in back of a rototiller with the guard up... " LOL
Lol we pulled the guard off to hook up the brackets. I had already passed the tiller a few times so it was soft, but we have her little worry about rocks down here in South louisiana. As long as someone don't put them, there's none in the ground! Oh am ibwould have feel off my wife would have said the same thing! Thanks for watching
It does raise up. My tractor is short so it would drag the ground a bit. I added a couple bars from the tiller to the back brace it would hold level and stay off the ground.
Nice soil. Mine is a lot more clay, though been working to build up organic matter in it. How much 'pre-prep' work did you do to it ? Did you use a subsoiler, plow, etc ahead of time ? Thanks !
Ed Smith we have alot of clay here also. All I passed was the tiller. I pass it forward once, then back down the row, than pass it forward again . I find with this tiller that works the best. This was the best year of the tilling. We hit it perfect with the weather. Ground was perfect, dry but not drought dry. I add rice chaff from time to time when I am able to get it. There's no nutritional value to the soil from it, but it does help to keep it fluffy. 20 years ago they could not get rid of it, now they sell it... go figure! Thanks for watching. I no longer work the ground there. We have just purchased property to start a homestead on. Will be using this again with some modifications. So at this point I may end up with a truck Fram somewhere else but I will probably not. It's alot of work build something like I have now. And to do it for a 3rd time. We grow normal crops as in tomatoes cucumbers peppers. The reason for the beds / rows is because here in south louisiana we gulf storms most every afternoon when it starts warming up. Those storms drop tons of rain. 2 to 3 inches in an hour. Without the rows the plants would die because the soil would never dry. Everything in this area has to be planted on rows. Its easier for us to deal with a drought here also. Water is pretty plentiful as the water table is about 20 feet to the first zone. Thanks for watching! Gro Dat!!
Maani Hoosen it should work. Not sure where your from but here in South Louisiana for the crawfish ponds they use what's called levee builders. I had never seen them untill i made this. But look on youtube or Google search and you should be able to find some pictures or someone with a video. It will do the same as this without the tiller. We are also thinking about making one for a 3 point hitch connection. When the gardening slows down we like playing with the welding machine. So no telling what we're gonna end up with! As its built right here, I dont think it would hold up to that kind of soil. There is something similar that is used to make levees around here for ponds. Maybe look up that. Thanks for watching! Gro Dat!!
Zaappp !!! It's a 6 foot tiller the opening there in the back was 28 inches. I have opened it up to 33 a couple times. The excess dirt falls over the sides when there is too much for the row.
Growing Grass Hobby Farms Thanks for the reply. I've got an 81 inch tiller and have been thinking about doing this to make 48 inch beds for rows of blueberries instead of buying a hiller. They don't even have to be as high as yours. They're going to settle anyway. One pass would probably do. Maybe make the flat board across the back angle down to flatten it out and put something there to knock the corners down and maybe tighten it up.
Zaappp !!! The issue I have with lt leaving furrow down the middle is not bad for me. I like to plant in a furrow. To stop it I will attatch some pipes from the tiller to the back of the bed shaper. The bed shaper tends to want to bring the back end up when it fills full of dirt. We have made a couple mods to it but with the weather we have been having was not able to try them to see how they work. Only had time to do it this way before the rain started... 2 weeks ago. Lol its just clumps of dirt. Thats was an old cow field. Though I am no longer working that property. Working on some in town growing. Here in south Louisiana we have black jack dirt. It has to be perfectly moist to have some good tilling. And that was after 3 years of adding organic matter to the soil. Hope to soon have more property closer to the house. It is just using a 3 of tiller. We fabricated the back end that makes the row/bed. Used scraps we had around the farm. I was planning on making a how to video but we no longer have the farm so I have no use for another one. If you have any questions please feel free to ask away. It possible could. If your not pulling a tiller behind the mower you will prob have to add more weight to hold it down. I have seen a couple videos on TH-cam e where people actually made something similar and just pulled it while walking. It didn't make a high bed but did make a bed. Couple thing to think about with doing the with a mower. The dirt does get awful heavy when pulling. Trying to make too high of a bed would end up bogging down the mower. Another thing the better the ground is tilled the easier the beds shape. Good luck! Gro Dat!

Does the rowmaker lift when you raise the tiller? Looks awesome, I am going to try it with some 1/4 inch steel stock bent to the right angle.

Sand and gravel. About as loose as dirt can get
I no longer work the ground there. We have just purchased property to start a homestead on. Will be using this again with some modifications.
Did add alot of compost to that area and it made an amazing difference both in the soil and the quality of the plants and vegetables!

That was my best invention and by far my most watched video! Yep still have the tractor not much use for it on 1/2 acre but just can't seem to get rid of it. O wanted one for so long.

I am almost to the age that I will be happy with the half acre I have now. I was supposed to get 6 acres and the farm house from my grandparents, but I am not waiting to rebuild a farm there. So at this point I may end up with a truck Fram somewhere else but I will probably not. It's alot of work build something like I have now. And to do it for a 3rd time. I just dont see me having the want to do it again.

Yeah it’s already gotten a little bit colder tonight. Suppose to get a winter mix. Who knows. I’m going to go cut trees and play on my tractor lol. I just got a new chainsaw and so got to use it! Haha

Why do you make beds in the garden? What type of crops do you grow with the beds?
We grow normal crops as in tomatoes cucumbers peppers.
The reason for the beds / rows is because here in south louisiana we gulf storms most every afternoon when it starts warming up. Those storms drop tons of rain. 2 to 3 inches in an hour.
Without the rows the plants would die because the soil would never dry.
Everything in this area has to be planted on rows.
Its easier for us to deal with a drought here also. Water is pretty plentiful as the water table is about 20 feet to the first zone.

Maani Hoosen it should work. Not sure where your from but here in South Louisiana for the crawfish ponds they use what's called levee builders.
I had never seen them untill i made this. But look on youtube or Google search and you should be able to find some pictures or someone with a video. It will do the same as this without the tiller.
We are also thinking about making one for a 3 point hitch connection.
When the gardening slows down we like playing with the welding machine.
So no telling what we're gonna end up with! Gonna try and video more of our projects!

Is it works for heavy and wet soil?
As its built right here, I dont think it would hold up to that kind of soil. There is something similar that is used to make levees around here for ponds. Maybe look up that.

How much hp your beast have ?
28 hp at the PTO. Thats on a 6 foot tiller. A 4 ft tiller would work much better like this

Nice work! How wide is the tiller and how wide is the bed opening out the back?
Zaappp !!! It's a 6 foot tiller the opening there in the back was 28 inches. I have opened it up to 33 a couple times. The excess dirt falls over the sides when there is too much for the row.
Growing Grass Hobby Farms Thanks for the reply. I've got an 81 inch tiller and have been thinking about doing this to make 48 inch beds for rows of blueberries instead of buying a hiller. They don't even have to be as high as yours. They're going to settle anyway. One pass would probably do. Maybe make the flat board across the back angle down to flatten it out and put something there to knock the corners down and maybe tighten it up.
Zaappp !!! The issue I have with lt leaving furrow down the middle is not bad for me. I like to plant in a furrow.
To stop it I will attatch some pipes from the tiller to the back of the bed shaper. The bed shaper tends to want to bring the back end up when it fills full of dirt.
We have made a couple mods to it but with the weather we have been having was not able to try them to see how they work. Only had time to do it this way before the rain started... 2 weeks ago.

Lol its just clumps of dirt.
Thats was an old cow field. Though I am no longer working that property. Working on some in town growing. Here in south Louisiana we have black jack dirt. It has to be perfectly moist to have some good tilling. And that was after 3 years of adding organic matter to the soil.
Hope to soon have more property closer to the house.

It is just using a 3 of tiller. We fabricated the back end that makes the row/bed. Used scraps we had around the farm.
I was planning on making a how to video but we no longer have the farm so I have no use for another one.

Would this work with a small riding mower?
It possible could.
If your not pulling a tiller behind the mower you will prob have to add more weight to hold it down.
I have seen a couple videos on TH-cam e where people actually made something similar and just pulled it while walking.
It didn't make a high bed but did make a bed.
Couple thing to think about with doing the with a mower.
The dirt does get awful heavy when pulling. Trying to make too high of a bed would end up bogging down the mower.
Another thing the better the ground is tilled the easier the beds shape.

The boards are 12 inches tall if they were taller the row would be made higher also. Some dirt was spilling over the sides already because there was too much dirt
