This could easily be brought up to a higher quality spec. They could partner with a company like Glock or Smith and Wesson to get real pistol grips and triggers in. Personally, I'd like to see a staccato partnership because I enjoy their triggers.

A "gun enthusiast" friend in Texas had a birthday coming up. While shopping through thrift stores I found a gun shaped mouse.. And I don't mean a gun handle, I mean the whole thing was shaped like a handgun. The only difference was the large flat base that the optic sensor was housed in. Packing this strange looking mouse up for him, it was sent from Canada to the US well before his birthday. By the time he got it, it was over a month late, it had been in the hands of Homeland Security for weeks, and not only had they gone through everything in the box, but they ate more than half of the home made cookies that had been made for him. He discovered half eaten cookies in the bags, with big bite marks taken out of them and then put right back in like it didn't matter (because apparently to them it didn't.) So if you're going to buy something silly like this, be *really* careful about shipping it... Homeland Security might eat your cookies.

I think the most surprising thing about this, is the fact it took so long for someone to try it. With all the crazy peripherals throughout the years, a "gun style mouse" seems like a pretty easy idea to sell. And I agree, good or bad, it's great to see companies try new things.
LGR featured an old mouse shaped like a full pistol in one of his OddWare videos recently (along with other uncommon mice). It surprised me that it didn't suck.
His OddWare videos give me nostalgia, even though I've never seen most of the devices. Just something about that era of computer tech reminds me of my childhood. 😂
I had actually bought this a few weeks ago for shits and giggles and that actually has been happening. I usually twitch a lot when trying to use a claw grip and am more stable now 😂
Ive been using arm aiming on mice my whole life lol. Born in 90 and them mouse balls didnt give you a choice unless you used a trackball. At this point when i do use my harpoon for fps broadstrokes is arm and the micro movements is in the wrist. I get the longest sessions without pain using this method whilst wresting my hand on the mouse with the lower palm. I can play all day long with controller but a lifetime of wasd n mouse has fuckethed my stamina. Love my logictech trackball for everything else though.
I've bought it recently and been using it for around a day. I think if you're only gaming then maybe it isn't the mouse for you. On the other hand, I had pain in my wrist for weeks that didn't go away from using normal mice. I tried everything from stretching and looking up wrist exercises. Most of my career I've been in IT world so I spent a lot of my time on the computer as a job. With the Ragnok 2 mouse the pain I had for weeks just stopped. I do get a little fatigued with it being a grip but that's usually because I grip tightly. Overall, I think this mouse design did wonders for me and my wrist. And if anyone else had problems with their wrists I'd recommend this one.
Gun-mice are great! This is the fourth gun-mouse I've seen, I used to own a MonsterGecko Pistol Mouse (an optical mouse-gun with a longer baseplate and the sensor right at the front of the baseplate, and a massive scroll wheel that went through the whole mouse body, plus a metal trigger; it was well-built but its secondary button was crammed in into the angle between the bottom of the trigger guard and uncomfortable to press. The sweeping movement took some getting used to. I also had a CyberGun P230 mouse, which was moulded in the shape of an actual P230 pistol if you glued one to the top of an ancient late 80s mouse - it was nicer in the hand than the MonsterGecko, but for some bizarre reason it was a ball mouse, not optical, and of all the real gun's controls it used only the trigger, adding in an extra button below the trigger for a right click. There was also a Zalman mouse based on this concept, but I never had or used that one. Both the ones I did have were quite nice to use in general principles, but overall very disappointing, and I always wanted to see the concept done better. For one thing, nobody who makes these seems to have looked at any actual guns. Many guns are covered in controls (hammer, safety, magazine catch, slide latch are common to most handguns) which are designed specifically to be used in the thick of a gunfight, but every execution of this concept I've seen ignores these controls in favour of adding a right click button below the trigger which prevents you from gripping the thing comfortably. Why? Gun ergonomics are varied but basically always excellent, but nobody bothers to avail themselves of the research and development that gunsmiths did already, much of which is long out of patent or copyright protection. Many for example laud the Colt 1911 as one of the most pleasant to hold guns ever made. Near to the trigger in easy reach of the firing hand it has a hammer which could become a button, magazine release button, a slide latch, and a safety which moves up and down and would be perfect to adapt into a jog switch that functions as a mouse wheel, and all of these could be replicated on both sides of the gun to accomodate left-handed people. Another thing that confuses me is the lack of anything like this from major mouse manufacturers who are actually capable of making things properly and creating ergonomically sound designs with a good standard of fit and finish. Even now that many companies make ergo mice, the insistence on buttons rather than triggers (which are, after all, a time-tested type of control specifically designed for accuracy and minimal movement) when pads have used triggers for some time, makes no sense to me. Any gamer who uses a pad knows how pleasing triggers are, so why aren't they on mice? But having played Red Steel on Wii back in the day...THAT is the way to do gun peripherals. I've heard you can make wiimotes work on PCs but never had any luck trying to do it. Logitech, step the hell up and make this! Another thing - this is far from the first mouse to have haptic feedback, back around 2004 I used to own a Belkin Nostromo mouse which had force feedback. My mother banned me from using it as it made my whole desk vibrate and was audible downstairs!
With 3D printing it should be easy to replicate ergonomics and controls - different switches placement. Regarding ergonomic mice I've bought Logitech Lift. It is already niche product, perhaps manufacturers follow standard.
I remember back in the 2000s they had one like this before. I think it would be better if they tilted it 45 degrees or so and make the base bigger so it’s more of a hybrid mouse but has the feel of holding a gun. That would be cool.
Yes, it was from Zalman. A buddy of min had one and was crazy good with it in FPS. We were in high level competitions, so the concept of this type of mouse is at least not a limitation.

As others have mentioned, imagine if this had higher end materials like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, metal casing etc. I do think the weight is actually good but it’s not a bad idea on paper but needs better materials and parts to have better execution. Not a bad product but needs a V3
There is a reason that a vertical mouse isn't just straight up and down. I would like to see you test more vertical mouse options. I've been using a delux seeker for a while now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Once you get adjusted to a good vertical mouse it becomes invisible.
I used to have a 3M EM550 which is basically this with a more "ergonomic" hand grip and base but the biggest problem was that you couldn't use left and right click at the same time, they were mutually exclusive presses at the top. Makes it basically unusable unless you remap the other buttons to left click and then it became even less useful with less buttons available.
LGR made a weird mouse review a while back and actually got to use a "Gun Mouse" like this but having an actual gun on top of the handle, and I think it does help with the immersion. And that was like, a very old laser optical mouse,to boot.
v3 should use an accelerometer for side to side movement, use a 'safety' for a thumb button and give it its own button assignment. with a scroll wheel just above it. Use an actual trigger like you'd see on an airsoft or paintball gun and maybe something like a switch that has a buckling spring for that tactile sensation. also weight balanced throughout. weight alone means nothing for a design like that if it doesn't have a balanced weight to feel more like you're actually holding one it'll feel wrong. (and maybe get a higher end sensor and such so that it can compete better)
I had one very similar YEARS ago but the base was a lot longer and the sensor was out towards the front of the base instead of right under the grip. With the sensor further out, you could tilt your wrist left and right to pan left and right instead of it being right under where your fist is. Thought it was a neat idea and wasn't horrible to use. Looks like the company may have been Monster Gecko that made it.
Granted the build quality seems to be subpar but the idea has some pretty good heft to it. Make it a lightspeed sensor, increase the weight (a bit) and make the mouse buttons like actual mouse buttons and I would probably only use this for fps games. Also the attachment should be permanent with palmrest and maybe allow movement on the y-axis without it detaching (spring mechanism?) for upward aiming.
I'm actually really excited for this! I've wanted a gun-shaped mouse for years, but not for "cool gun stuff!" but for ergonomic reasons! I'd INSTANTLY buy one that had a fully attached base and more buttons on the side!

I'm sure one could do much better with that concept. I don't play FPS games much, but I can imagine having a not-so-cheap version of this and actually liking it as an FPS guy.
Dude there could be many reason i dont think he just doesnt care i think it actully adds to the feeling around it, he could actully just sit there and tell you all the Specs and stuff But his emotion to the product kind of shows you. If it's good or not like he sat there going in. Yeah, it's okay and when he explains about the features. And the weird buttons. It does kind of help you get a better understanding and how it feels to have the mouse.
I have one of these and I love it. Weird it may be but it keeps my fingers from going numb like a normal mouse does. The feel of the trigger and gun grip is great. I'd say this is better for gaming than for overall mouse use though. I have a Logitech vertical mouse for that but that thing is so heavy that it could never be competitive. I've tried many vertical mice for gaming over the years and this is the best for me. If you like vertical mice I'd say give it a try. If it's your first time trying one it will feel strange at first. It forces you to aim with your whole arm but you can still get that fine control of a normal mouse.
Thats actually a really interesting concept for a mouse. From an ergo pov. Makes me wonder why popular ergo mice are just vertical regular mice. Instead of something... like... well... this. I think it has potential

Old person here: Using a RumblePak for the first time was a game changer; it's a little thing, but keyboards and mice not having force feedback sometimes feels like a loss. Obviously office mice and work keyboards don't need force feedback, but it's neat to see them on gaming accessories.
The moveable palm guard is a feature!!! Had it been permanently in place you wouldn't be able to lift and maneuver the mouse comfortably because the back edge would catch the table.
Studies have shown that while vertical mice reduce arm strain, they are substantially worse for any speed or accuracy-dependant tasks. I've used one for work at length but struggled to ever make use of one in a game
It would be nice if he would actually use the device before hating on it for 10min. Literally talking about how bad it is to use before he even used it.
I am glad this exists... one could go crazy, add one for the left hand as well, independently dual wield (if such a game would support that), and add some floor pedals for movement lol. I think people might instinctively want to lift the gun mouse from the surface though. pros and cons for sure. Great video review and looks fun, definitely considering getting one of these.
I've had the Zalman wired gun mouse for years and part of me loves it because of its potential. It's way to small for my hands and where this ragnok is a bit larger I hoped it would be everything the Zalman was not. It's definitely too small and all of the points raised in this video are accurate and I agree with all of the issues emphasized here. The base is worthless a little magnet is no where near sufficient. Mx blue switches for the trigger is AMAZING but that's really what drew me in and it's not enough to carry this product as is. It needs resizing and a much more substantial base.
Reminds me of the Pistol Mouse FPS by MonsterGecko, and that was the whole gun not just the handle and came out in 2004. So it's not a 'new' thing as claimed in the video. Even the scroll wheel is in the same place.
I would pay good money for a perfect version of this. If they could make the trigger simulate the break of different firearms, and make the case more premium and true to form it would be very nice
Something like this would be better as a kit, provide half a dozen grip models that people can 3d print or buy print to order so they can pick something that is comfortable to their hand shape/preference. It probably would lack the polish that an injection molded production part can have but I could see buying a reasonably priced kit and printing off a few grips to play with a gimmick like this. It would also allow the company outsource some of the issues in this video, because anyone with tinkercad and a printer could fix several of those issues.
Paintball guns with electronic triggers used to use mouse clicking mechanisms behind the trigger so you could get ultra-fast semi-auto shots off. Seems to me they could just take that grip and click trigger, wire a mouse tracking sensor to the bottom, and you'd have the ideal version of this product.
Cushion for the glide pad add-on, and make it just a tiny bit longer so it's more stable for all angles. Then, I'd have the handle able to angle 20-30 degrees left or right, and back or forward as well so that you can find your own ergonomic angle. Instead of a smooth handle grip, make it a bit more concave. You don't need to concave for each finger, just do one concave so your hands can rest and squeeze easier. Instead of a tiny scroll wheel, make it a long scroll bar. And yes, give your thumb more buttons. Just make sure the buttons are out of the way of your normal and comfortable grip so there are no accidental presses. For the left and right click/triggers, obviously make them optical with a tactile bump. This way, you could always use the tactile bump as a 'full actuation' in later revisions so you actually could have pseudo-analog triggers. If all these are addressed, I'd happily pay a premium price.
This form factor would make more sense if it was in the style of a tactical AR pistol grip with one of those really thick & wide bottoms. Would be more comfortable and it would fit in with the feedback that the bottom place should be a more permanent/attachable component to allow better gliding and stability.
Maybe if it also had either a gyro or a front laser for additional movement, so you can use the bottom sensor for swooping movement and the wrist for tiny adjustments (where you aim UP to look UP, would need a bit of a gimball on the bottom or something).. or just aim at the screen with it like the duck hunt gun =) And I wonder why the top-rear is devoid of useful buttons, could fit at least the secondary click there because the one in the front *seems* awkward.
i've been thinking about a vertical mouse design, but im lacking the recources to build a prototype. it is going in their direction, but has much more ergonomic features, with thumbrest, a ball instead of a wheel, which has the input states of up and down just like the wheel. the ball would be positioned on the thumbrest for the tip of the thumb to reach. there would be 2 additional buttons, fully customizable, at pinky and ringfinger and 2 fully customizable buttons for the thumb on the side of the thumbrest. this part would be a magnetic swapable adition, which would let you choose between those 2 buttons, even more buttons for MMOs and a thumpstick. the palm- and fingerrest would be super thin and serve actually as gliding pads. in the package would be a selfadhesive velcro pad with several different options for surface gliding counterparts. wireless charging, magnetic charging/connection cable type c usb rgb would be optional but i think its unnecessary. i don't even care if anybody would steal this concept, just to see it live and be able to play with it, as long as i get one for free XD
I think a cool alternative to this could be having a motion-tracked actual gun-shaped, i.e. full gun sized controller, like they use for VR, but without the VR, just tracking the "gun" like some Arcade games do in a simpler way for railshooters, that could be an insanely cool novelty shooter device at the very least.
A better bit of trivia for wingspan: The average human's wingspan (sticking your arms out perpendicular to your body and measuring from fingertip to fingertip) is roughly the same as their height. As someone practically 6 foot tall, I can confirm when cables are 6 feet just by holding each end and T-posing.
I dont get what he means by saying the ergonomics are so bad, doesnt seem to bad to me there already are ergo standing mice where you hold the it similarly. pretty sure if this was made a little better with a better sensor and triggers and i think it would be totally fine to use in competitive games for a lot of people. Might even be good for people with carpal tunnel.
Something the Canucks are missing is that most guns are not that ergonomic, and you have to hold them in a particular way. Not to mention, the gun shown on their website as an example, a USP, does not feel particularly premium to hold, despite costing ~$1000
Take a mid-range gaming mouse, a trigger assembly from an Xbox controller, tear them down and put them in a gun handle housing, jerry rig some software for it and I bet this would actually be a really brilliant experience for FPS games.
3M (like the tape company) makes an ergonomic mouse with a very similar form factor. I’ve been using it for over a year and really enjoy it despite some shortcomings of it
The wrist precision could be better with this gun, sure you have to relearn the motion. But flexing your wrist "up and down" instead of "side to side", like with a mouse, has more range of motion and more muscles controlling it. It's the same motion I got taught for drumming efficiently.
Opens the door for an interesting idea. Not a 'gun' handle design necessarily, but something more or less shaped by this ... that doesnt run around touching the mousepad or desk, but floats midair in the users hand ... so it doesnt have to rest on the desk during use, but could if needed. We're talking no desk laser sensor at all. Aim and view control could be by - Tilt the handle from neutral upright position towards the left for the cursor to run left, - tilt right for right , - tilt fwd for down, - tilt backwards for up ... with a range of scroll wheels and buttons very ergonomically placed and congruent for this type of floating use. This would require gyro's wii style (but much better) to catch and interpret this type of movement, and equate it to curser directional movement. Obviously the user will have to be able to rest their forearm or elbow on their chair arm or desk to allow this type of control. This has been done for VR setups while standing, so it isnt new tech, just adapted in a different seated desk format way. Hmmmmm.
I feel like it should've had like a mouse 4 button where the hammer would've been or where the clip/magazine release would've been on a real pistol that you could bind as your reload.
I have the Zalman Fps Gun mouse. It's a similar mouse but better design and high quality. Fun to use. My Dad, who is 78 uses it now. Not for gaming though, regular computer use
I have wrist issues and I use an MX Ergo vertical mouse for work and I am confident I am just as accurate with it now that I've had the chance to develop the muscle memory as I was with a standard mouse. This seems much akin to that type of mouse but maybe not implemented as well as it could be. This could show some promise though if it was perhaps made in a higher more premium quality. Side note, due to my wrist issues, I actually use a Gameball trackball for gaming and I am much more accurate with that then I have ever been with any regular mouse. I think that is mainly attributed to the fact that moving just your very dextrous fingers for aiming is much more accurate than moving your entire hand/wrist or even arm. There is a steep learning curve with it though and you need to practice for at least 30+ days of heavy gaming to build up the muscle memory. I've been using one for years and I am known for my headshot abilities in competitive shooters amongst my friends now.
He tilts the mouse sideways to show off the the grip problems and my brain immediately goes "Where's the Gangsta version?". Not that I am fan of the Gansta grip but I feel it would work much better for the product concept. Also the finger rest definitely needs improving and some sort of clip-on system.
Lazy game reviews did a gun shaped mouse review not that long ago and it was a similar experience "this is silly... This is stupid... Ugh..." *actually tries it* "well gosh darn, this actually feels fun..."
Imagine a “Custom Arms” competition ak grip, maybe with a proper trigger as left click! Maybe a two-stage trigger could be implemented, with the first-stage being right-click and second-stage being left!?!
Jokes aside... I never seen a perfect fit for my hands. I was actually starting to have wrist problems with my current non vertical mouse, and I bought this one. Most of the games I play are fps, but also story based, and gotta say... The form factor it's a great idea! Used some vertical mices before, but this hits the spot

the click vibrations of a mouse cause slight pain in my finger joints if used for long time, so i was really looking for a mouse which had keyboard style keys rather than buttons, but i would have preferred in the normal mouse form factor
As someone who uses an MX vertical and a G402 everyday, as well as 2 months trying out the B100, i can confirm that changing hand orientation does take a bit of a learning curve. That said, the MX vertical is by far the most comfortable control device i'e ever used. Non-ergonomic grip on a "ergonomic" device like this really would be a dealbreaker. For the record I have huge hands, but I usually palm grip the G402 with the heel of my palm on the mousepad (which does give tactile movement feedback!).
They just need make it sideways, like how a gangster holds a gun. basically moving the buttons from the top to the front, and maybe use an ergo mouse as reference
I LOVED the old ZM-FG1000 from Zalman! Similar concept just all in all better a good 10 or more years ago now. Shame you can't find them ANYWHERE anymore...

I would not say I am much of a mouse expert or enthusiast by any stretch, but I would like to recommend you take a look at the Zelotes C18 vertical mouse, it is nothing too fancy but I have been using mine for about 3 years now and must say it is the best mouse I have personally ever used.
Imagine if they could create a better version where you can aim the Y-axis like a actual gun? Tilting up and down? The x-axis could still slide side to side. Maybe mounted on a sturdy support structure, that can slide but also give the player a floating ability to aim on the y-axis idk? There's got to be a way to build a quality, intuitive mouse (put aside "competitive eSports" I'm just talking about a good, fun feeling experience for playing certain games)
This would be cool for specific games like Sniper Contracts, Sniper Elites, Hunter Cotw and Way of the hunter. And maybe like Ready or Not. I would give it a shot on those games.
Believe it or not, we do not move mouse with our arm, but with our fingers instead. At least that's how I do it. I plant my wrist on the desk and claw the mouse lightly and extend my fingers to move the mouse up and curling it to move it down. Removing that feature and making it completely arm movement only will only tire your arm.
I would maybe try this out if it also came with a left hand one with a thumb stick for movement and some extra buttons. This seems like more of a half controller than a full mouse replacement

I'm buying one because I prefer the vertical simplicity of the mouse. The gun thing is sort of gimmicky, however, the vertical nature of the mouse is great for folks like me who have carpal tunnel and wrist pain.
I would say that a heavier more “realistic” feel is a trade-off as your hand will get tired quickly kind of like weighed vs. un-weighted keyboards/pianos. Would it feel like using a grip strengthener?
So this is the modern version of the atari 9pin joystick called "The Terminator" ... it was shaped like a grenade and it was useless. I can see some similarities. With the way this is shaped I'd immediately tilt it because my brain would go "hey, we're back in the 90s, we're using a joystick for a game like Descent"
i still have my Zalman FG-1000 👀 it was fun cuz you would use more of your wrist than just your arm since the sensor is placed further forward. Great vid!
That is good mouse idea but sadly they are need more improvement to be built-in, a side from what is saying in this video they should add : 1.Bigger handle aka grip on gun and if possible makes it 1:1 version from Desert eagle or some kind for size comparison 2.Handle need 4 movements articulation, up,down,right,left like in Hotas module which is more better on the terms of long time using 3.Roll button should be built with revolver so even you bump it without realizing it, you need more power (giving a settings using software to adjust how much resistance in there. 4.Trigger rather than using tactile cherry mx, better to use the same one with controller that is already common even fusing it with pulse triggers where is the triggers will bounce back everytime you pushing it. 5.Better materials, sliding pad or even better is plate so it cant move at all but giving 8 rotation moves on the stick it probably better
You could easily attach the palm rest by just having it slide on with some sort of rails, then the handle wouldn’t be able to rotate away from it like that.
I completely see the reason to the aim button being on the side, because in a real gun, there is a "button" there. And if you shoot guns IRL I would assume you'll just press the second "trigger" all the time, because its in the "gun grip".

A "gun enthusiast" friend in Texas had a birthday coming up. While shopping through thrift stores I found a gun shaped mouse.. And I don't mean a gun handle, I mean the whole thing was shaped like a handgun. The only difference was the large flat base that the optic sensor was housed in. Packing this strange looking mouse up for him, it was sent from Canada to the US well before his birthday. By the time he got it, it was over a month late, it had been in the hands of Homeland Security for weeks, and not only had they gone through everything in the box, but they ate more than half of the home made cookies that had been made for him. He discovered half eaten cookies in the bags, with big bite marks taken out of them and then put right back in like it didn't matter (because apparently to them it didn't.) So if you're going to buy something silly like this, be *really* careful about shipping it... Homeland Security might eat your cookies.

I think the most surprising thing about this, is the fact it took so long for someone to try it. With all the crazy peripherals throughout the years, a "gun style mouse" seems like a pretty easy idea to sell.

LGR featured an old mouse shaped like a full pistol in one of his OddWare videos recently (along with other uncommon mice). It surprised me that it didn't suck.
I love his like "weird mouse roundups", kinda seems like the bullet mouse had better ergonomics.

I had actually bought this a few weeks ago for shits and giggles and that actually has been happening. I usually twitch a lot when trying to use a claw grip and am more stable now 😂
Ive been using arm aiming on mice my whole life lol. Born in 90 and them mouse balls didnt give you a choice unless you used a trackball. At this point when i do use my harpoon for fps broadstrokes is arm and the micro movements is in the wrist. I get the longest sessions without pain using this method whilst wresting my hand on the mouse with the lower palm. I can play all day long with controller but a lifetime of wasd n mouse has fuckethed my stamina. Love my logictech trackball for everything else though.
I've bought it recently and been using it for around a day. I think if you're only gaming then maybe it isn't the mouse for you. On the other hand, I had pain in my wrist for weeks that didn't go away from using normal mice. I tried everything from stretching and looking up wrist exercises. Most of my career I've been in IT world so I spent a lot of my time on the computer as a job. With the Ragnok 2 mouse the pain I had for weeks just stopped. I do get a little fatigued with it being a grip but that's usually because I grip tightly. Overall, I think this mouse design did wonders for me and my wrist. And if anyone else had problems with their wrists I'd recommend this one.

Gun-mice are great! This is the fourth gun-mouse I've seen, I used to own a MonsterGecko Pistol Mouse (an optical mouse-gun with a longer baseplate and the sensor right at the front of the baseplate, and a massive scroll wheel that went through the whole mouse body, plus a metal trigger; it was well-built but its secondary button was crammed in into the angle between the bottom of the trigger guard and uncomfortable to press. The sweeping movement took some getting used to. I also had a CyberGun P230 mouse, which was moulded in the shape of an actual P230 pistol if you glued one to the top of an ancient late 80s mouse - it was nicer in the hand than the MonsterGecko, but for some bizarre reason it was a ball mouse, not optical, and of all the real gun's controls it used only the trigger, adding in an extra button below the trigger for a right click. There was also a Zalman mouse based on this concept, but I never had or used that one. Both the ones I did have were quite nice to use in general principles, but overall very disappointing, and I always wanted to see the concept done better.
For one thing, nobody who makes these seems to have looked at any actual guns. Many guns are covered in controls (hammer, safety, magazine catch, slide latch are common to most handguns) which are designed specifically to be used in the thick of a gunfight, but every execution of this concept I've seen ignores these controls in favour of adding a right click button below the trigger which prevents you from gripping the thing comfortably. Why? Gun ergonomics are varied but basically always excellent, but nobody bothers to avail themselves of the research and development that gunsmiths did already, much of which is long out of patent or copyright protection. Many for example laud the Colt 1911 as one of the most pleasant to hold guns ever made. Near to the trigger in easy reach of the firing hand it has a hammer which could become a button, magazine release button, a slide latch, and a safety which moves up and down and would be perfect to adapt into a jog switch that functions as a mouse wheel, and all of these could be replicated on both sides of the gun to accomodate left-handed people.
Another thing that confuses me is the lack of anything like this from major mouse manufacturers who are actually capable of making things properly and creating ergonomically sound designs with a good standard of fit and finish. Even now that many companies make ergo mice, the insistence on buttons rather than triggers (which are, after all, a time-tested type of control specifically designed for accuracy and minimal movement) when pads have used triggers for some time, makes no sense to me. Any gamer who uses a pad knows how pleasing triggers are, so why aren't they on mice?
But having played Red Steel on Wii back in the day...THAT is the way to do gun peripherals. I've heard you can make wiimotes work on PCs but never had any luck trying to do it. Logitech, step the hell up and make this!
Another thing - this is far from the first mouse to have haptic feedback, back around 2004 I used to own a Belkin Nostromo mouse which had force feedback. My mother banned me from using it as it made my whole desk vibrate and was audible downstairs!
With 3D printing it should be easy to replicate ergonomics and controls - different switches placement.
Regarding ergonomic mice I've bought Logitech Lift. It is already niche product, perhaps manufacturers follow standard.

I remember back in the 2000s they had one like this before. I think it would be better if they tilted it 45 degrees or so and make the base bigger so it’s more of a hybrid mouse but has the feel of holding a gun. That would be cool.

Yes, it was from Zalman. A buddy of min had one and was crazy good with it in FPS. We were in high level competitions, so the concept of this type of mouse is at least not a limitation.

As others have mentioned, imagine if this had higher end materials like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, metal casing etc. I do think the weight is actually good but it’s not a bad idea on paper but needs better materials and parts to have better execution. Not a bad product but needs a V3
There is a reason that a vertical mouse isn't just straight up and down. I would like to see you test more vertical mouse options. I've been using a delux seeker for a while now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Once you get adjusted to a good vertical mouse it becomes invisible.

I used to have a 3M EM550 which is basically this with a more "ergonomic" hand grip and base but the biggest problem was that you couldn't use left and right click at the same time, they were mutually exclusive presses at the top. Makes it basically unusable unless you remap the other buttons to left click and then it became even less useful with less buttons available.

LGR made a weird mouse review a while back and actually got to use a "Gun Mouse" like this but having an actual gun on top of the handle, and I think it does help with the immersion. And that was like, a very old laser optical mouse,to boot.
This on a solid base with some really nice switches does have fps-potential.

v3 should use an accelerometer for side to side movement, use a 'safety' for a thumb button and give it its own button assignment. with a scroll wheel just above it. Use an actual trigger like you'd see on an airsoft or paintball gun and maybe something like a switch that has a buckling spring for that tactile sensation. also weight balanced throughout. weight alone means nothing for a design like that if it doesn't have a balanced weight to feel more like you're actually holding one it'll feel wrong. (and maybe get a higher end sensor and such so that it can compete better)
I had one very similar YEARS ago but the base was a lot longer and the sensor was out towards the front of the base instead of right under the grip. With the sensor further out, you could tilt your wrist left and right to pan left and right instead of it being right under where your fist is. Thought it was a neat idea and wasn't horrible to use. Looks like the company may have been Monster Gecko that made it.

The Penguin mouse is a pretty good implementation of a vertical mouse! It took a week or so to get used to, but it’s fantastic for ergonomics.
Granted the build quality seems to be subpar but the idea has some pretty good heft to it. Make it a lightspeed sensor, increase the weight (a bit) and make the mouse buttons like actual mouse buttons and I would probably only use this for fps games. Also the attachment should be permanent with palmrest and maybe allow movement on the y-axis without it detaching (spring mechanism?) for upward aiming.
I'm actually really excited for this! I've wanted a gun-shaped mouse for years, but not for "cool gun stuff!" but for ergonomic reasons! I'd INSTANTLY buy one that had a fully attached base and more buttons on the side!

I have one of these and I love it. Weird it may be but it keeps my fingers from going numb like a normal mouse does. The feel of the trigger and gun grip is great. I'd say this is better for gaming than for overall mouse use though. I have a Logitech vertical mouse for that but that thing is so heavy that it could never be competitive. I've tried many vertical mice for gaming over the years and this is the best for me. If you like vertical mice I'd say give it a try. If it's your first time trying one it will feel strange at first. It forces you to aim with your whole arm but you can still get that fine control of a normal mouse.

The moveable palm guard is a feature!!! Had it been permanently in place you wouldn't be able to lift and maneuver the mouse comfortably because the back edge would catch the table.

Studies have shown that while vertical mice reduce arm strain, they are substantially worse for any speed or accuracy-dependant tasks. I've used one for work at length but struggled to ever make use of one in a game

I am glad this exists... one could go crazy, add one for the left hand as well, independently dual wield (if such a game would support that), and add some floor pedals for movement lol. I think people might instinctively want to lift the gun mouse from the surface though. pros and cons for sure. Great video review and looks fun, definitely considering getting one of these.
I've had the Zalman wired gun mouse for years and part of me loves it because of its potential. It's way to small for my hands and where this ragnok is a bit larger I hoped it would be everything the Zalman was not. It's definitely too small and all of the points raised in this video are accurate and I agree with all of the issues emphasized here. The base is worthless a little magnet is no where near sufficient. Mx blue switches for the trigger is AMAZING but that's really what drew me in and it's not enough to carry this product as is. It needs resizing and a much more substantial base.

I would pay good money for a perfect version of this. If they could make the trigger simulate the break of different firearms, and make the case more premium and true to form it would be very nice
Something like this would be better as a kit, provide half a dozen grip models that people can 3d print or buy print to order so they can pick something that is comfortable to their hand shape/preference. It probably would lack the polish that an injection molded production part can have but I could see buying a reasonably priced kit and printing off a few grips to play with a gimmick like this. It would also allow the company outsource some of the issues in this video, because anyone with tinkercad and a printer could fix several of those issues.
Paintball guns with electronic triggers used to use mouse clicking mechanisms behind the trigger so you could get ultra-fast semi-auto shots off. Seems to me they could just take that grip and click trigger, wire a mouse tracking sensor to the bottom, and you'd have the ideal version of this product.
Cushion for the glide pad add-on, and make it just a tiny bit longer so it's more stable for all angles. Then, I'd have the handle able to angle 20-30 degrees left or right, and back or forward as well so that you can find your own ergonomic angle. Instead of a smooth handle grip, make it a bit more concave. You don't need to concave for each finger, just do one concave so your hands can rest and squeeze easier. Instead of a tiny scroll wheel, make it a long scroll bar. And yes, give your thumb more buttons. Just make sure the buttons are out of the way of your normal and comfortable grip so there are no accidental presses. For the left and right click/triggers, obviously make them optical with a tactile bump. This way, you could always use the tactile bump as a 'full actuation' in later revisions so you actually could have pseudo-analog triggers. If all these are addressed, I'd happily pay a premium price.
I remember having something simiar to this mouse called the FPSGun mouse. I love the way it felt holding it, but still felt cheap.
This form factor would make more sense if it was in the style of a tactical AR pistol grip with one of those really thick & wide bottoms. Would be more comfortable and it would fit in with the feedback that the bottom place should be a more permanent/attachable component to allow better gliding and stability.

Maybe if it also had either a gyro or a front laser for additional movement, so you can use the bottom sensor for swooping movement and the wrist for tiny adjustments (where you aim UP to look UP, would need a bit of a gimball on the bottom or something).. or just aim at the screen with it like the duck hunt gun =)
And I wonder why the top-rear is devoid of useful buttons, could fit at least the secondary click there because the one in the front *seems* awkward.
i've been thinking about a vertical mouse design, but im lacking the recources to build a prototype.
it is going in their direction, but has much more ergonomic features, with thumbrest, a ball instead of a wheel, which has the input states of up and down just like the wheel. the ball would be positioned on the thumbrest for the tip of the thumb to reach. there would be 2 additional buttons, fully customizable, at pinky and ringfinger and 2 fully customizable buttons for the thumb on the side of the thumbrest.
this part would be a magnetic swapable adition, which would let you choose between those 2 buttons, even more buttons for MMOs and a thumpstick.
the palm- and fingerrest would be super thin and serve actually as gliding pads.
in the package would be a selfadhesive velcro pad with several different options for surface gliding counterparts.
wireless charging, magnetic charging/connection cable type c usb
rgb would be optional but i think its unnecessary.
i don't even care if anybody would steal this concept, just to see it live and be able to play with it, as long as i get one for free XD
I think a cool alternative to this could be having a motion-tracked actual gun-shaped, i.e. full gun sized controller, like they use for VR, but without the VR, just tracking the "gun" like some Arcade games do in a simpler way for railshooters, that could be an insanely cool novelty shooter device at the very least.
A better bit of trivia for wingspan: The average human's wingspan (sticking your arms out perpendicular to your body and measuring from fingertip to fingertip) is roughly the same as their height. As someone practically 6 foot tall, I can confirm when cables are 6 feet just by holding each end and T-posing.

Something the Canucks are missing is that most guns are not that ergonomic, and you have to hold them in a particular way. Not to mention, the gun shown on their website as an example, a USP, does not feel particularly premium to hold, despite costing ~$1000
Take a mid-range gaming mouse, a trigger assembly from an Xbox controller, tear them down and put them in a gun handle housing, jerry rig some software for it and I bet this would actually be a really brilliant experience for FPS games.
3M (like the tape company) makes an ergonomic mouse with a very similar form factor. I’ve been using it for over a year and really enjoy it despite some shortcomings of it

If it wasn't unnecessarily gun-themed and cheap, this would be super cool. I've always wanted more vertical-grip mouses in the gaming space.
The wrist precision could be better with this gun, sure you have to relearn the motion. But flexing your wrist "up and down" instead of "side to side", like with a mouse, has more range of motion and more muscles controlling it. It's the same motion I got taught for drumming efficiently.
Opens the door for an interesting idea. Not a 'gun' handle design necessarily, but something more or less shaped by this ... that doesnt run around touching the mousepad or desk, but floats midair in the users hand ... so it doesnt have to rest on the desk during use, but could if needed. We're talking no desk laser sensor at all.
Aim and view control could be by
- Tilt the handle from neutral upright position towards the left for the cursor to run left,
- tilt right for right ,
- tilt fwd for down,
- tilt backwards for up
... with a range of scroll wheels and buttons very ergonomically placed and congruent for this type of floating use.
This would require gyro's wii style (but much better) to catch and interpret this type of movement, and equate it to curser directional movement. Obviously the user will have to be able to rest their forearm or elbow on their chair arm or desk to allow this type of control. This has been done for VR setups while standing, so it isnt new tech, just adapted in a different seated desk format way.

I have the Zalman Fps Gun mouse. It's a similar mouse but better design and high quality. Fun to use. My Dad, who is 78 uses it now. Not for gaming though, regular computer use
I have wrist issues and I use an MX Ergo vertical mouse for work and I am confident I am just as accurate with it now that I've had the chance to develop the muscle memory as I was with a standard mouse. This seems much akin to that type of mouse but maybe not implemented as well as it could be. This could show some promise though if it was perhaps made in a higher more premium quality.
Side note, due to my wrist issues, I actually use a Gameball trackball for gaming and I am much more accurate with that then I have ever been with any regular mouse. I think that is mainly attributed to the fact that moving just your very dextrous fingers for aiming is much more accurate than moving your entire hand/wrist or even arm. There is a steep learning curve with it though and you need to practice for at least 30+ days of heavy gaming to build up the muscle memory. I've been using one for years and I am known for my headshot abilities in competitive shooters amongst my friends now.
He tilts the mouse sideways to show off the the grip problems and my brain immediately goes "Where's the Gangsta version?". Not that I am fan of the Gansta grip but I feel it would work much better for the product concept. Also the finger rest definitely needs improving and some sort of clip-on system.

Jokes aside... I never seen a perfect fit for my hands. I was actually starting to have wrist problems with my current non vertical mouse, and I bought this one. Most of the games I play are fps, but also story based, and gotta say... The form factor it's a great idea! Used some vertical mices before, but this hits the spot

the click vibrations of a mouse cause slight pain in my finger joints if used for long time, so i was really looking for a mouse which had keyboard style keys rather than buttons, but i would have preferred in the normal mouse form factor
Probably ship v3 with more platforms that vary in weight and cover a wide radius around the handle, or make it so you can put weights inside
As someone who uses an MX vertical and a G402 everyday, as well as 2 months trying out the B100, i can confirm that changing hand orientation does take a bit of a learning curve. That said, the MX vertical is by far the most comfortable control device i'e ever used. Non-ergonomic grip on a "ergonomic" device like this really would be a dealbreaker. For the record I have huge hands, but I usually palm grip the G402 with the heel of my palm on the mousepad (which does give tactile movement feedback!).

I would not say I am much of a mouse expert or enthusiast by any stretch, but I would like to recommend you take a look at the Zelotes C18 vertical mouse, it is nothing too fancy but I have been using mine for about 3 years now and must say it is the best mouse I have personally ever used.
I used to have a Zalman FPSGUN - that form factor seems more practical
i still daily drive it, did take long to get used and removed the heavy weght inside
Imagine if they could create a better version where you can aim the Y-axis like a actual gun? Tilting up and down? The x-axis could still slide side to side. Maybe mounted on a sturdy support structure, that can slide but also give the player a floating ability to aim on the y-axis idk? There's got to be a way to build a quality, intuitive mouse (put aside "competitive eSports" I'm just talking about a good, fun feeling experience for playing certain games)

They ought to make a limited collection, from antique or real gun handles.. I can imagine a wood grained handle from a magnum will be epic..
This would be cool for specific games like Sniper Contracts, Sniper Elites, Hunter Cotw and Way of the hunter. And maybe like Ready or Not. I would give it a shot on those games.

Believe it or not, we do not move mouse with our arm, but with our fingers instead. At least that's how I do it. I plant my wrist on the desk and claw the mouse lightly and extend my fingers to move the mouse up and curling it to move it down. Removing that feature and making it completely arm movement only will only tire your arm.
I would maybe try this out if it also came with a left hand one with a thumb stick for movement and some extra buttons. This seems like more of a half controller than a full mouse replacement

I'm buying one because I prefer the vertical simplicity of the mouse. The gun thing is sort of gimmicky, however, the vertical nature of the mouse is great for folks like me who have carpal tunnel and wrist pain.
I would say that a heavier more “realistic” feel is a trade-off as your hand will get tired quickly kind of like weighed vs. un-weighted keyboards/pianos. Would it feel like using a grip strengthener?
So this is the modern version of the atari 9pin joystick called "The Terminator" ... it was shaped like a grenade and it was useless. I can see some similarities.
With the way this is shaped I'd immediately tilt it because my brain would go "hey, we're back in the 90s, we're using a joystick for a game like Descent"
i still have my Zalman FG-1000 👀 it was fun cuz you would use more of your wrist than just your arm since the sensor is placed further forward. Great vid!
That is good mouse idea but sadly they are need more improvement to be built-in,
a side from what is saying in this video they should add :
1.Bigger handle aka grip on gun and if possible makes it 1:1 version from Desert eagle or some kind for size comparison
2.Handle need 4 movements articulation, up,down,right,left like in Hotas module which is more better on the terms of long time using
3.Roll button should be built with revolver so even you bump it without realizing it, you need more power (giving a settings using software to adjust how much resistance in there.
4.Trigger rather than using tactile cherry mx, better to use the same one with controller that is already common even fusing it with pulse triggers where is the triggers will bounce back everytime you pushing it.
5.Better materials, sliding pad or even better is plate so it cant move at all but giving 8 rotation moves on the stick it probably better
You could easily attach the palm rest by just having it slide on with some sort of rails, then the handle wouldn’t be able to rotate away from it like that.
I unironically want a higher quality one with premium materials, solid rumble and the PS5s trigger tech. That would be fun as heck
I completely see the reason to the aim button being on the side, because in a real gun, there is a "button" there. And if you shoot guns IRL I would assume you'll just press the second "trigger" all the time, because its in the "gun grip".
A good trigger should have a springy 1/4 and snaps at about 2 pounds of pressure then you feel the snap of it reset
