I have no idea why ppl answer when they don’t have a clue or don’t fully understand cvt transmissions. Secondary is stuck open . Could be a number of reasons . Broken secondary spring ,binding in chaincase ,improperly assembled secondary . It takes all of 1/4 turn of the inner secondary sheave to fully slide the cam open . After that ,the primary will advance the belt up the clutch faces and pull the belt down into the secondary . Which means and extra load on the transmission which is beyond the secondary jackshaft will allow the primary to improperly load the secondary . Everything need to operate freely for the original clutching setup to work efficiently
The secondary is stuck open which makes the belt look streched, take the secondary off and look at the ramps and rollers on the inside, I can almost guarantee you have a flat spot on one or both.
Seems like this is a common polaris problem. Mine squeal real loud when i hit the gas and its moving. I thought it was the band so i changed it but it wasn't. I think its one of the clutches
@@brianf2580 no it got worse. Started chewing up belts like crazy. Broke down at my house. I want to fix it but the clutches r expensive and i can't afford it right now
The balanceers are not working right in your primary clutch, the spring on stock clutches often weakens and can not handle the weights properly as rpm's go up. I had to rebuild mine once, second time I installed a new EPI clutch kit and never had a problem since.

The belt is supposed to be at the top of the secondary clutch when sitting idle. That sec. clutch is bad
Have you figured out this issue my Polaris 500 is doing this also same thing belt hanging and bike won't move
secondary stuck open
Try clean both clutches and change deflection lol 8 years later

Did you ever figure this out?

Looks like secondary is stuck open to me.
There are no balancers
There are ramps which are weighted and a spring .
It’s a p85 or p90 primary
Did anyone find out exactly the problem with this clutch?
to me it sure looks like your secondary clutch isnt moving...
tim moore he probably has the brake locked on for all I can tell
my clutch broke into a million pieces anybody know how much it cost to fix
Need a new belt. I'd that doesn't fix then take it to the dealership and get them recalibrated
to me it looks like it might be your wet clutch it's slipping and not making nothing work outside
Dimas Garza there's no wet clutch in the 500's
looks like that belt is totally stretched out
thats exactly wat my scrambler 400 is doing did you fix please let me kno
Joe Vizcalla replace your clutch

Leonard G. Still the same design basically all clutch and belt driven bikes. I’ve seen can am clutch belts fail and their clutch as well.
Nathan Johnson Except Yamaha’s design, which is the best.
