  • This video shows the Difference between Storey Drift & Storey Displacement with example.
    Storey drift can be defined as "It is the displacement of one storey with respect to the other storey."
    Storey displacement can be defined as "It is the displacement of a storey with respect to the base of a structure".
    These both terms are used in earthquake or seismic engineering design.In this video one example has been taken to show the exact difference between these two terms.

    Sir. May I ask in ASCE the storey drift limit is 0.02hx. How about the story displacement, is there any limit for that or do we check only the story drift? Thank in advance sir.

      Drift ratio.
      Relative displacement between stories is Drift, and the Drift of that storey divided by its height is drift ratio.
