They are talking about their relationship with their art, music and dance. And how a dancer dies twice, the first death being when he/she stops dancing. BTS also mentions how they are afraid to lose their passion for their art and how losing this passion can feel like death for them
By the way, the shadows are the other members. It's not CGI. I think that you should watch the behind the scenes of Black Swan. 😊 They have filmed the mv at the old LA theater that people say that is haunted.
The shadow behind Suga was made by Jimin. He was standing in the audience chairs. The shadow above RM was made by J-Hope. He was standing on the stairs, behind RM. 💜💜
Watch the behind the scenes video. This was shot at the Los Angeles Theatre. Not a set. So, this mv is based on the famous ballet Swan Lake. It's about a white/good swan and a black/evil swan. In many modern productions, both parts are played by the same dancer. Symbolizing the struggle within oneself between light and dark. This is further shown by the black, white and grey colour's throughout the video and their clothing. BTS did a whole series of songs about the shadowself. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
Not sure if others mentioned…..but there is a behind the scenes video of The Making of that you should watch as it answers many of your questions. BTS almost always releases behind the scenes videos of how they shoot their MVs and their dance practices…..they are really cool. And Yes……Jimin was the dancer at the begining and the shadow behind Suga and behind JK at the end of the MV. JHope was the shadow above RM🔥
I loved your reaction. Many reactors skim over the dancing, while I relish it. Jimin is the solo dancer for this MV. His dancing is so fluid, graceful. All of them embodied the sense of this song. So glad you enjoyed & appreciated this song’s MV.
The lyrics to BTS's "Black Swan" explore the relationship between artists and their craft, and the fear of losing that relationship: Loss of love for the craft The song compares the feeling of losing love for one's craft to death. For example, the lyrics include "If this can no longer resonate, no longer make my heart vibrate, then like this may be how I die my first death". Self-reflection The song's mature lyrics convey the members of BTS's self-reflection as artists who have learned what music means to them. The ego The vocals and lyrics may represent the ego, which organizes thoughts and intuitions, and continues the pursuit of personal identity. Working with struggles The song may suggest that instead of denying or giving in to struggles, we can learn to work alongside them. Facing inner shadows The song may suggest that we should face our inner shadows, but resist becoming submerged to their depths. Ode to creatives The song may be an ode to creatives everywhere.
With "Black Swan," BTS divulge their most harrowing shadow yet, one that any person who lives for making art faces: losing the passion for creating. "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." Martha Graham. This quote is at the root of the sentiments inlaid in "Black Swan." Much like a dancer feels purposeless when they can no longer express themselves through dance, BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death. RM sings, "If this can no longer resonate / No longer make my heart vibrate / Then this may be how I die my first death." Once again, BTS affirm that despite their countless record-breaking accolades, the wealth they've amassed, and their ever-increasing fame, they are artists. What means most to them is the art - music, visuals, dances - that they create. 💜
For the shadows, they did a camera trick to capture the shadows of other members dancing in the bg. On the RM's shot where the shadow is in the ceiling, J Hope is dancing on the stairs behind RM for example. There is a behind the scenes video of how they shot this one and some of their other MVs.
The person that keeps capturing your attention with skill, fluidity, and emotion in his dance is Jimin…..who released his 2nd solo album MUSE this year. You should watch his MV Who if you haven’t already…..his dancing and singing is mesmerizing🔥
If you want to know how they did the shadows or anything else, there is a behind the scenes video. You might enjoy their creativity shown in it and you won't need to use guesswork to try and figure it all out. Did you notice when Jin turned around that his reflections in the mirrors didn't? 😉 💜
It's definitely not a.set it's an actual theater in LA Army have been there to take pictures from there I have as well to I love that theater. Ita a bts landmark if you ask me.
BTS rarely uses CGI or sets. Almost always on location. There is no expense spared which is the reason their videos are so highly acclaimed. I hope you continue to explore their discography. Thank you for your reaction to BTS.
Black Swan is definitely one of their best songs! But man, this just the tip of the iceberg 😭. From their group MVs to every solo ones there are just so much meaning and so many things to breakdown. I can't wait for you to get to each of them.
I can see their pain and struggle in this video . I love this mv . We know how much problems and pain they were faced , they were struggled a lot . So now they are in position . For that I love them a lot 💜 . They deserve it . They are legend 🤌 .
Here is a list of MVs you should watch if you'd like to get into their recent solo releases as well: RM - LOST!, Come back to me Jin - The Astronaut Agust D - Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala (IN THIS ORDER) J-Hope - MORE, Arson Jimin - Set Me Free pt. 2, Like Crazy, Who V - Slow Dancing, Rainy Days, Love Me Again Jungkook - Standing Next To You, 3D, Seven
Thank you for your reaction! I always love seeing BTS reactions from professionals. It gives me me new info or even just watching y’all enjoy it always give me pleasure. You can always watch the making of these MVs right after the MV. You can see how they’re filmed.💜
13:29 and 13:36 that's Jimin. He was a ballet and contemporary dance before he became a trainee Please react to Xikers mvs, Ateez, The Rose, Zerobaseone, Seventeen and Enhypen, please?
i loved hearing your thoughts about the song's meaning! and i agree, the video is like a painting just like you said. all the shadows and focused lighting create that artistic feel and really tell the story. i think the dancing also compliments the sensitive and dark vibe of the song.
I was army for 4 year but now i'm carat but always proud because I was army and teha they are very talented I love them so much they are incredibly talented people and they are 7 talented king nothing they can't do they are very talented everyone who are reading this I recommend you to stan them they are hella talented this song is my favourite one ❤❤ Appreciating these talented group from carat ❤❤
Really enjoyed your reaction to Black Swan. Would love for you to critique Singularity. It's another interesting video...very artistic. Thanks again..look forward to more of your reactions. 💜
new to his reactions, has anyone mentioned that j-hope and jimin were dancers before bts? Like Jimin majored in it, and there's some fantastic videos out there from his time studying dance, and j-hope had an underground dance group called Neuron
I think you got that right. Overall, it's about losing passion for your art; inspiration; ability. And, there was a time when they had talked about ending the group because it became too much for some members. But, they got through it. There can be some of that reflected here too. Have you reacted to Blood Sweat and Tears. I think that's an amazing MV. It's about temptation, in general. The amount of symbolism in the MV is crazy though.
I have some suggestions since their discography is emence. If you want to see their beginning Then i would suggest, 'No more dream' search for English Subs for this one, ' We are Bulletproof pt.2', ' N.O. ' Dope' ,'Fire' and 'Not today' for starters. 'Save me' and 'I'm fine' are both iconic and sister songs in more than one ways. 'ON kinetic manifesto film', 'Dna' and 'Butter' i thing you'll love. 'Blood sweat and Tears' is King and 'Spring day' the Queen both require to be watched as MVs first and their explanation videos second and since you haven't reacted to more than half of the members... For RM (leader of group, rapper) 'Forever rain', 'Come back to me' and 'Flowerworks'. For SUGA (Agust D for his solo work) his trilogy ' Daechwita' 'Haegum' and 'Amygdala' plus a solo in BTS disc. Interlude: Shadow. For J-Hope 'Daydream', 'J-Hope on the streat' and ' More'. JIN our eldest, 'The Astronaut' and 'I'll be there'.Of course theirs a lot more including covers like 'Fix you' for MTV, their 'Tiny Desk' is amazing and more. I would also suggest to look into their guide videos. There is a guide by Taylor Mary, i believe there is a longer very comprehensive guide with lots of song spoilers.Phew that was a long one Lol❤

There is a "making of" video that shows exactly how they made this MV.
For me, the black swan is the best BTS video. It's a masterpiece.
In the scene with RM on the ceiling, it's J-Hope's shadow
Budget? What budget? BTS are the masters of MV's.
You’re gonna love Blood, Sweat&Tears
Exactly
omg yess

They are embracing that if they individually lose themselves, their group continues to inspire them because they believe in each other!
