Your explanation makes a lot of sense. Here's something I found. After much struggle to deworm a horse I had, it turned out she much preferred it administered from directly in front, not from the side. Now she takes it in her mouth herself, in her front teeth. I have to firmly hang on to the tube, or she'll take it all in, and quickly squeeze the plunger. It's a crack up. I don't even need a halter on her.
