When Seger wrote this song, he was not well known at all. He was a grinder on the road. So everyone looking at him was about the way he looked at the time with his long hair. People would make comments but not back them up. He has the line "You always seem outnumbered. You don't dare make a stand" is about the ones making the comments.
Bob Seger has a LOT of great songs including Night Moves, Like A Rock, Roll Me Away, Mainstreet, Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser, Old Time Rock & Roll, Hollywood Nights, We've Got Tonight, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, Still the Same, Feel Like a Number and more. He's one of the best.
He was my first concert I was 10 in 1980 and my Dad knew security and I had VIP treatment with front row center floors. The place was hopping and I fell in love with live shows I also saw him in 82 again He's incredible 😊
He can rock out with the best,”Nutbush,Katmandu,Fire Down Below…or he can be like this ,soulful introspective, but always, always tells a great story!! And his sax player’s name was Alto Reed…. As a sax player, you’ll get it
Excellent pick. Hes a treasure. " 🔥 down below, night moves." Think out of the lyrics . Life seems the same, getting the same results, " turn the page," in your life.
This was my first concert in 1980 I was 10 and wanted to see him so badly ( my parents had great taste in music) and my Dad knew security at the CNE and I got the VIP treatment front row center floors ushered, no line's. This started my journey of concerts. I would save and go to whoever I wanted to see. I saw him 2 years later and he's incredible live. The place was hopping. I know you love the saxophone so Betty lou is getting out tonight and definitely Old time rock and roll. Enjoy the ride cause its going to be a good one 😅 Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW I love how you smile every time you hear the saxophone 😅😊
Hey Dreezy, it always amazes me that the saxophone can make a person smile no matter how they feel! I loved your reaction to Bob Seger! Now you should try "Night Moves" or "Old Time Rock and Roll" or "Still the Same" these are three to get you started but the catalog for Bob is huge! So enjoy the ride!
Thanks, Dreez! One of my favorites by Bob.. glad you got the "live" recording, even though you don't have the video... so you can focus on lyrics... so soulful and evocative... appreciate your reaction...
Love Bob Segers music. He has so many hit songs it's hard to go wrong with his music. Another great Seger song is Shame on the Moon , I think you would really enjoy that one
Bob Seger can paint such a vivid image with his lyrics, you'd swear he was singing one of your memories! My dad went to school with him in Ann Arbor Michigan. My dad also went to one of his early gigs in an area that's referred to as "Downriver". And I attended a show on his final tour.
My Dad took me to see him in 1980 I was 10 and fell in love with live shows and then both my parents took me to the Against the wind tour in 82. He's absolutely incredible live 🙌
Another great reaction, I really respect your insights really incredible your appreciation of the classics. Proceed with caution young man, the Bob Seger rabbit hole is incredibly deep and vast a true American music legend, I’ve been stuck in this rabbit hole for almost 1/2 a century :)
Bob Seger is one of the best. I suggest “You’ll Accompany Me”, “Main Street”, “We’ve Got Tonight”, “Hollywood Nights”, “Against the Wind”. Really any Seger song lol
You simply cannot go wrong with Bob Seger. He has nothing but great music. Try Come To Poppa, Her Strut, Jody Girl, Still the Same, Ship of Fools, Sunspot Baby, Main Street, etc. etc. etc.
He recorded using the same musicians that Aretha Franklin used on her hits, the legendary swampers from muscle Shoals recording studio in Alabama.4 white guys who have played on 95 gold platinum hits and won eight Grammys
The line “wondering if a woman or a man” is from a time when males got their hair cut every two weeks, whether they needed it or not. At least my dad and 2 brothers did. There were signs saying “long haired need not apply”
"Roll Me Away", video shows him another microphone, 9.5 millions views, 4 yrs ago. I've never watched a reactor that didn't love it. I 2nd " Hollywood Nights" from other comment. Great channel!
I just started watching your reaction videos and you are one of my favorite reaction channels. I would love to see you react to Jackson Browne. He was my favorite musician in the 70's when I was a teenager. "The Load Out/Stay" is my favorite, but he had alot of hits. If you choose this song you should watch the live version BBC in 1978. He is a great lyricist and has a great voice. He wrote his first song when he was 16 I believe.
Makes me think of how great it must've been to be at that concert at Cobo Hall back in 1975! Other great Bob Seger songs include Against the Wind. Main Street. Like a Rock. If you ever do an album review, it has to be LIVE BULLET. A great live album by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.
Hold on Son. You are gonna go a musical journey; one for the ages! EDIT... Alright Kiddo. First time watching your stuff. I'm in! Gonna offer another beauty up for you. Chris LeDoux ~ This Cowboy Hat
Another heartfelt song about being on stage and touring that's worth a listen is The Load Out by Jackson Brown. It's his tribute to all the behind the scenes people who help to set him up on stage and then 'load out' back into the trucks. This live version is best. th-cam.com/video/scsJZ67ssDY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wFpmKadWFaC80ZP6
Some reactors say it must've been so great in the late 60s and 70s; that things were so much more laid back. Nope, taking a beating because you're a guy with long hair. It was rough. Bob Seger knows that. Just as many problems back then, just different types.
One of the best songs ever..."Night Moves" th-cam.com/video/_mRFWQoXq4c/w-d-xo.html If you search for it don't do the video. First, it takes you out of the song and second, they cut off one of the best parts at the end.

Bob Seger is a master class story teller.

He was my first concert I was 10 in 1980 and my Dad knew security and I had VIP treatment with front row center floors. The place was hopping and I fell in love with live shows I also saw him in 82 again
He's incredible 😊

Saw him twice live in Detroit. Phenomenal shows!!!

Old Time Rock and Roll, Like a Rock, Shakedown, and Kathmandu are a few of his songs. So many good ones to choose from!😊
You could do 100 more and never be bored. Feel Like a Number, Horizontal Bop, Roll Me Away, Betty Lou, Hollywood Nights and The Famous Final Scene.
Bob Seger is one of the best. I suggest “You’ll Accompany Me”, “Main Street”, “We’ve Got Tonight”, “Hollywood Nights”, “Against the Wind”. Really any Seger song lol

Come to Poppa, We’ve Got Tonight, and Main Street are some of my favorites of his!
If given only one artist to hear for the rest of my life it would be Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band
Dig deeper into bob's long list of songs
He recorded using the same musicians that Aretha Franklin used on her hits, the legendary swampers from muscle Shoals recording studio in Alabama.4 white guys who have played on 95 gold platinum hits and won eight Grammys
I believe if i remember correctly Glen Frey of The Eagles played piano on this.
The line “wondering if a woman or a man” is from a time when males got their hair cut every two weeks, whether they needed it or not. At least my dad and 2 brothers did. There were signs saying “long haired need not apply”
You can randomly pick any one of his songs out of a hat, and it would be a banger. ♥
"Roll Me Away", video shows him another microphone, 9.5 millions views, 4 yrs ago. I've never watched a reactor that didn't love it. I 2nd " Hollywood Nights" from other comment. Great channel!

Was that a common thing with artists then? What about other Artists that had long hair back in the days? Did they get the same treatment?
One of the best songs ever..."Night Moves" th-cam.com/video/_mRFWQoXq4c/w-d-xo.html
If you search for it don't do the video. First, it takes you out of the song and second, they cut off one of the
best parts at the end.
Metallica does a great cover of this song. I favor the original, but they did do it justice. 👍
