Last clip is understandable. Would've honked too. The police car didn't turn on his lights so it seems to be a normal car parking in the middle of the street.
4:29, I don't think she understands countersteering. Looks like at 4:48 she tried to "turn left" but actually steered right into the car's path. Heavy price to pay for that one.
It's not about countersteering. Actually, it is impossible to ride a bike at all without countersteering, whether you do it on purpose or subconsciously. This though, is clearly an example of target fixation. She sees the car, is afraid to hit it, and animal instincts kick in and make you look at the car, which subsequently makes you steer towards it, only amplifying the fear. Where you look is where you go.
@@tHaH4x0r It can be more than one thing. You can clearly see her push the bars to the right, which means go right, and that's where she went. It was her second ride. I don't think she trusted that you push left to go left in that panic situation. In any case it ended badly.
@@bluesriderDF Of course her bars moved to the right, it would be impossible for her to move the bars left and the bike moving right. Do you think kids know about countersteering when riding a bicycle? Of course they dont. Yet they still can apply it effectively in practice because it is the only way you can control a two wheeled vehicle at speed. The point I am making is, that its unlikely that there was a conscious effort of counter-steering, or even avoiding the car. It is a very common fight or flight response, and panic response, to lock onto the car and because of it steer towards it. Hell, if you ride a motorcycle for any considerable length you must have had it happen to yourself once. The panic response happens to everyone, and experience just helps in it being less likely to happen in common situations. The difficult part is snapping out of that panic response when it does happen.
I think what happens is that they don't understand that the bike has to lean to turn, so when they start turning and the bike leans, they feel like they are falling over, so they straighten up to "balance" the bike, which means they fail to turn, and they crash. She really shouldn't have been on the road.
Was thinking the same, that's where the oil leaking from car engines will be. Even at intersections I always ensure I'm either side not in the middle of the lane as you're just asking for trouble.
@@ilaser4064lol this is such an American thing - we don’t have these huge mystery invisible oil slicks in the middle of our roads in Europe. Very rare. Odd that. And also, that rider could’ve spotted that a country mile off…
@@thumpertorque_ lol I love that you think you did a thing there 😂😂👍🏻. I put in 20K+ miles a year in Europe, and have never seen anything like this. Also, the line was huge and obvious (like I said). If the rider had been paying any attention, he’d have easily avoided it…
The girl who broke her ankle may have misjudged the turn and may have had target fixation, but those were not the primary cause of the crash. She simply never learned to counter-steer. You can see her turning the handlebars to the left and fighting the resultant right turn into the car. Not understanding counter-steering is ticking time bomb. You can get away with leaning for awhile, but when you need to swerve out of danger, you will steer right into it.
Hey man, running a binge on some of your videos, don't worry about the voice overs, I personally like them, adds a bit of life to the show. 👍 Been watching you for years, damn good channel.
I was following a couple on separate Harleys. Brand new bikes, leathers, the whole shebang! We all turned left onto the next road, him in the lead with her trailing behind. She was NOT a rider. She struggled to make the turn as he pulled far ahead and around the corner. The lady with me behind approached a right turn and that’s when it showed that she was not shown how to ride. She tried to go around the curve..by steering the handlebars! Yup. Right into oncoming traffic! Fortunately everyone avoided a collision. I caught up to the fella a couple miles up ahead to let him know. His jaw hit the fuel tank! I’m sure they both learned a valuable lesson that day!😮
04:04 , Guy could have went around with an evasive swerve / pushing hard on the one side of the handlebars. Surely I would've tried to brake too, but still...
you've never been on fresh tarred road... there is no such thing as a swerve... you'd eat it the same ... this is like riding in snow, or on dirt.. you give extra space and don't ride directly behind anyone :)
@@FiveFiveZeroTwo Yes, with more distance to the car in front and with a gentle break the moment he noticed the new tarmack or simply not riding in the centerbehind the car but instead to one of the sides where the cars wheels go, in that case he wouldnt need to swerve to much to avoid collision. I dont know if there were any signs for it, but in Denmark they always put warning signs for newly paved roads.

2:14 - So you saw that Can-Am dude is a bad rider and the best idea you can come up with is to catch up to him and get as close as you can. What did you think would happen?
I will never understand that there is no law to wear a helmet in some states. Bikes are already dangerous but riding without a helmet is an actual deathwish
I'm in a no helmet state. It's up to the individual whether or not they want to ride without a helmet. Fine by me, I choose to wear a helmet. Statistics in my state show individuals wearing helmets die more frequently than those that don't in motorcycle crashes. Michigan State Police release motorcycle crash information every year and every year it gets brought up. Iirc it's around 55% of motorcycle fatal motorcycle crashes are individuals wearing helmets, 40% are not wearing a helmet, and 5% is unknown. Not that the information is useful, as none of their statistics account for the riders ability, time spent riding, whether or not they were sober or partaking in reckless behavior, etc
@@JohnnyD1993Are these stats looking at the percentage of people wearing or not wearing helmets? If more people are wearing helmets then of course most crashes will involve someone with a helmet. If only 20% aren't wearing helmets and they account for that high of a percentage then obviously they should be wearing a helmet.
@@GamerSwagThe They, unfortunately, do not release raw data, just percentages. What could one expect from the state police? Full transparency? They have no problem releasing total registrations per year, citing a decline. They have no problems releasing total number of crashes per year, showing an upward trend. My guess is most likely individuals not wearing helmets die at a higher rate, however even then the data is about useless. Most individuals not wearing helmets in fatal crashes are on motorcycles categorized as cruisers. So that doesn't account for intoxication, age, experience, physical capabilities, etc.
Why does there have to be a law to force the issue? Letting "common sense" dictate a helmet is a good idea, but not requiring one if you are over 18 lets adults make the choice. They're adults, they should have that right. If they want to choose no helmet, it's more organs to donate to everyone else. Alcohol leads to numerous traffic deaths too, should it be fully illegal too? Or just regulated by age, like it is.
that poor girl panicked, didn't know how to counter steer yet. glad all she got was a broken ankle, could have been her demise. and that deer hitting that guy broadside, incredible. and lastly, that scooter rider, he is soooo lucky to get away with just paying for damages.
It's a Rover 75, which are now becoming a bit of a classic. The problem is that the insurance company would only probably value it at a few hundred pounds and the repairs would likely far exceed that if done by an insurance company approved bodyshop. The sensible thing for the owner to do would be to buy it back from the insurance company for scrap value or less and get it fixed himself.
On Yamaha R125 video, from that corner entry, it is nearly impossible to get that turn... The speed, the rider's position, the angle, the corner entry... all of them were wrong. He is lucky that survived.
Definitely for people that are still novice riders you need to learn your machine as well as possible before you start to do crazy things on public roads with people because even if you trust yourself and your machine you have to keep other people into consideration for not only your own safety but others too
8:25 - I keep seeing this stupidity. The vehicle in front isn’t going to be stopping for no reason. There’s either a hazard in the road ahead of them, of they’re stopping. Also, if you’re going to pull out and filter - BLIND SPOT CHECK. Another biker could fly up behind and already be making the same move.
what I've learnt from these is that even the smallest tap and the bike needs parts replaced almost straight away, must be a very expensive thing to upkeep
5:32 do not ride in the middle of the lane behind a car. It blocs vision. Also oil is usually spilled there and the car will try to avoid obstacles hitting his wheels. The best place to ride is in the directly behind either wheel
Methavn, The driver said i have ur numberplate and u are going to pay U ARE GOING TO PAY lol it was Swedish and im from Sweden so Ez translate to English 👍
I had done them up tight because they were still laced when it came off we reckon once my foot hit the wheel and broke my shoe just slipped off I thought I was still wearing it when I hit the floor 😅
Maybe, you don't know what forces there are when crashing. Especially when your foot gets cramped in between a bike and a car. I mean the impact was so strong her ankle broke completely. It's only logical that the shoe might also fly off then no matter how good your shoe is or how tight it fits. It will just get ripped off, especially when your foot is broken. No more active bone structure to support the shoe to stay on your feet anyways
@ 3:18 Bike is in a right hand turn , not hanging his butt off the seat to the right, thinks he is too fast in the turn, squeezes front brake w/out weight transfer, front wheel locks, ''Down goes Frasier.''
What happened to Malko, as so many others I've seen here lowsiding in turns, is not counter-steering. When you steer in the direction of the turn that's what happens

I can confirm it's "Mattress".

5:30 this is one of several reasons you generally shouldn’t cruise in the middle of the lane
Very rare. Odd that.

@@aps-pictures9335 That clip is from Europe. 🤦♂
Amazing comp, mate! Thanks for sharing my clip! Cheers!

Watching these videos while at work is what helps me survive my day ♥ soon enough I'll get my bike and I hope to be featured in your videos!
Same here! I watch these on my breaks, and it helps me keep a little sane 😂
I wish, you'll never have to be featured here. Stay safe, while having fun riding!
At work just stopped to watch motomadness...just thinking about riding home for the weekend ahead...have a nice weekend everyone and ride safe
@@TroyC68 Rider instantly locked the rear wheel and then dropped way before touching the car.. was that really unavoidable?
@@FiveFiveZeroTwo Yes, with more distance to the car in front and with a gentle break the moment he noticed the new tarmack or simply not riding in the centerbehind the car but instead to one of the sides where the cars wheels go, in that case he wouldnt need to swerve to much to avoid collision.
I dont know if there were any signs for it, but in Denmark they always put warning signs for newly paved roads.
Nice edit thanks for featuring us

Old guy riding is at least partially to blame, if not mostly, he assumed and made an ass out of himself. It was almost obvious the Spyder was going to turn left based on a few factors, without the indicator, including the fact there was a turning left and nothing in the right.
Fully to blame, because he was passing on a double yellow.
@@noahmercy-mann4323 Sure he's to blame, but anyone with half a brain would've realized what was about to transpire. At least wait for a second to see if he is going to turn without a signal, or if he's actually just stopping, pulling off to the right for some wild reason.
And the Can-Am had just run a red light! Rider clearly was not paying attention. Old Guy Riding is mostly to blame because he cannot stop in the distance he can see to be clear.
Both are to blame, old guy passed on a double yellow. Other guy ran a red light, turned with no indicator, driving without due regard, and U turn over a double yellow.
Exactly, why else would he have stopped in the middle of the road?
Great safety advice and commentary!

Who is narrating this, at 2:36 you say that the biker assumes he is good to pass, what the hell are you talking about, there is a double yellow, you cant pass, guy on the CanAm should use blinkers as well but trailing biker still does not have the right to pass.
At 4:15, car decides to brake, biker has no choice but to do the same! Yea that's how it works
At 9:11 what's the confusion at the intersection? Trenton Chappell didn't make a full stop, essentially running the stop sign and then proceeds to yell at the car that did stop, not much to be confused about.
The biker did assume he was good to pass. If he didn't assume it, he wouldn't have attempted it. I don't think you understand what an assumption is.

Leaping gazelle.... LOL... that sir is a white tail deer.

Natural selection. If they die, they die

It's a Rover 75. My bet is that car is cheaper than the work needed to fix it not including even the parts.
The main issue is that he didn’t counter steer …
Definitely for people that are still novice riders you need to learn your machine as well as possible before you start to do crazy things on public roads with people because even if you trust yourself and your machine you have to keep other people into consideration for not only your own safety but others too
8:25 - I keep seeing this stupidity. The vehicle in front isn’t going to be stopping for no reason. There’s either a hazard in the road ahead of them, of they’re stopping. @@zombaesquad28 they could not have been tight if the shoe came off.
