After the previous video I actually bought myself a 20t press similar to yours. I've always wanted one and I've changed quite a few motors' bearings with it. Thanks again for a splendid video.

Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate it.
Gary Baris: I don't know how I survived without one for so long. I'm glad I could be of influence.
As far as heating and tempering go; I'd LOVE to be able to use heat to adjust these tubes like Keith Fenner does to prop and lead-screw shafting. Unfortunately, the heavy chrome plating on fork tubes (and I assume hydraulic cylinders) will separate from the base metal if heated like that. Don't ask how I know that. :) I do not believe they are hardened and tempered. They certainly don't machine like it. I use old fork tubes for lots of stuff around here. They make excellent breaker bar extensions.
Why they bend? The first time was a head-on bike to bike collision. The second time, who knows.
I also found some post edit errors in this video. Something with my editing software is giving me fits, but it's minor so I'm not going to re-post. TH-cam won't allow re-posting without completely replacing the video, new link and all. So hiccups will remain.

Great metallurgical explanation about the point at which you are moving the tube
    Cheers

IF, you had a way to press a slug down through that tube it would have come very close to being round again. Carl

Hello, You are doing great job.
Can I ask you 1 question - what's the measurement tool's name (like a clock view)? How you are calling it? Thank you

That is a Dial Indicator. There are electronic versions also. Mechanical indicators are usually graduated in .001 inches (or metric equivalent). Finer graduations are also available but less common. You also need an indicator holder to use it.

Good video. I'm trying to share with a friend how to do this, without going over there. You know what you're doing.

Same procedure on 3 wheeler forks, right?

I would assume so. A bent tube is a bent tube. Good luck.

I dont know of any businesses that would do this. In todays litigious society its probably a liability to use anything other than a new replacment part. Maybe look for a shop that works on vintage bikes and restorations.
