I’ve never seen that last technique with the bobby pin and picking the stitch up then knitting them tog. Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this! 🥰

This is so excellent. I come back to it every couple of years or so - some day I'll have it memorized. Thank you!

Eunny...of all the short row videos I have watched over the last two days, your demo is absolutely the very best...especially the Japanese short row and using a bobby pin is absolutely brilliant...so much easier than a marker or a non-coiled safety pin...speeds up the process amazingly...thank you so very much...YOU are my trusted instructor....extremely clear, concise and easy (have shared this link with my entire knitting group! Enjoy your day! Sincerely...Judith

Finally someone who holds the yarn on her left hand! This is so much easier to understand! Thank you for demonstrating these techniques :-)

Finally! After viewing several videos on short rows and at least 3 methods for short rows your video made sense to me. Thank you!

Ohhhh, THAT's how it's done! I have a couple of really nice patterns that require short rows that I was really confused about but you make it look so easy!! I am going to try the last bobby pin trick because I don't want it to look so obvious. Thank you!!!

My preferred method is German short rows. Easy to do, much neater than traditional wrap and turn, and no bobby pins. Thanks for the video.

Though I hardly do the w&t short row (use it only sometimes) I love the way you do it, it's easier than some other ways I observed. Most of the time I use the Japanese short row the second more "refined" version. Thanks for the lesson, it's a joy watching your speed continental knitting! 😊

I used this and it's wonderful! I can't believe how easy and how beautiful it is! (The 3rd method -- I couldn't use the 4th [slipped stitch] method because the turn stitch is in seed stitch) Thank you so much!
One thing I wish though, That you had shown us the close-up of not only the stitch, but also of the rest of the fabric -- so we could see the effect and make a more informed decision about the different methods. You did it for the first swatch, but not the others, so we could see both the front and the back and decide which we liked.

Thanks for this video, a bit rushed but I got the main points! I wanted to share that I accidentally discovered that the "bobby pin" method and the "wrap and turn" method pick up exactly the same bit of yarn to "close the gap" so for me the wrap and turn is easier because having all those bobby pins hanging (for example sock heels) is really cumbersome. The wrap and turn has a tiny bit more yarn because of wrapping around a stitch, so maybe that's why it seems a bit neater - so I pulled the wrap a tiny bit tighter (didn't strangle it tho) and voila - perfect short rows (almost).

thank you so much for this video. i know the host/demonstrator (this particular instructor) is no longer with Interweave gut I am hoping someone from the show can still answer my question regarding short row stitches. I am following a pattern that instruct me after having 10 w&t on both side of my work by doing them on both the right side and wrong side of the work. The instructions go on to tell me to (starting on the right side) to knit to the 1st wrapped stitch, unwrap it, w&t, then on the wrong side to the same with the purl stitches until i have unwrapped all all 10 previously wrappec stitches. My question is, how am I suppose to do this? I am confused. If I am supposd to be unwrapping stitches, while at the same with the next stitch w&t in order to unwrap stitches? It is really confusing. I will create more wrap stitches so how do they get unwrapped? ugh! Please help. Thank you.

+EstellosBest , That's a tough one without seeing the pattern or project. If you are a member of Ravelry I would suggest posting it there in a forum. And/or seeing if the pattern or designer is on Ravelry so you can ask there. Hope that helps. If you are not a member of Ravelry. Post the designer and pattern name here and I will look it up for you.

+VanessaRae Thank you so very much for your help. I have not been able to continue work on this project due to this dilemma. The name of the pattern is Sitio Stockingings, designed by Ashley Fay and from the book, Vampire Knits by Genevieve Miller. I did check and ask the designer on Raverly first (my ID there Dntunravl) but I never got a reply.

    Shoulder Shaping
Row 1 (RS): Sl 2 stitches purlwise with yarn in front, purl
    to last 3 stitches, turn.
Row 2: Yo, knit to last 3 stitches, turn. [yarn overs do not
count as sts and will be worked together with the next st
to close holes left when work was turned]
Row 3: Yo, purl to 3 stitches before yo on previous row,
    turn.
Row 4: Yo, knit to 3 stitches before yo on previous row,
    turn.
    Repeat last 2 rows 15 (16, 17, 18, 19) more times. [45
(47, 47, 49, 49) stitches remain in work at center of row]
So in this case, do we keep adding the yarn over until we reach rows and stitches in center?

I would like to have seen how they look after you've used each method. You demonstrated it very clearly with the first sample, which created a noticeable effect that I do not want.
But with the traditional wrap-and-turn method, you used a dark red yarn that blended with the background -- hard to see, and you didn't show us at all what it looked like when finished.
And even with the bobby pin method, you didn't show us the effect -- the finished fabric -- when presumably, the entire sample you knitted for each method had used that technique.
Your videos seem off the cuff. To be more effective, you need to plan them a bit more, and keep in mind what someone watching will actually need to see.

Yes, you're right, l think of the same things, very nice methods but l must see how it looks after it's done, please! How about short rows and knitting further in? How will it fit to be in plane rounds again e.g.in socks or in pullovers e.g. several different painted parts done with short rows? How can l go on, please? Thank you!
