I agree, perhaps it’s because it’s not so easy to remove. I personally like the counterweight of having the cap on the pen. Actually I’m not sure where the need to have pens attached to devices came from. Most paper pads don’t have an attachment and we didn’t lose our pens, fancy or otherwise.
@@dom_leary I've ran into people who dislike having the cap on the pen while writing, specifically because of the counterweight. I think the loop is unnecessary (and can be removed from the Manta) if you just keep the tablet in your office or wherever, but the moment you move it around, you appreciate having the pen at the ready all the time. On top of, there have always been paper notebooks designed for be mobile with the pen loops or trays.
It looked like you were doing the erase gesture wrong a couple times and didn't right the last time. Its in the instruction manual on the SN, but theres a better step by step on their website in the support section. Follow that and it will work every single time. You can also use the slide bar, but most of time I just use rhe in screen icon. I probably will convert a Lamy Al-star to ceramic jusy to have the pen button though
I know those ways are there I was trying to illustrate how much easier it is to have pen with button. The slide bar (undo function) or the 2 finger its just quicker to scratch what I wrote and keep going. I just think the pens should be standard with erase button.
4:09 - I see no real reason to upgrade, unless your hard drive is full and need the extra storage the A5X2 offers via the removable SD Card. Personally, I prefer the old form-factor as the back was protected by the cover, but to many aesthetics matter more than usability, so I understand why they did it.
I agree, I couldn’t wait as long as ratta needed so bought a 2nd hand a5x, I love it, despite its chunky form next to remarkable. But now I can’t see the point, really don’t like the folio, there’s going to be a large drop in second hand value when the backs are scratched up, and the rubber nubs fall off. And of course ultimately it’s ruining the same software. And it’s quite expensive.
@@Ahuman1-o1y Indeed, and that _'slab'_ form factor makes it mach more rugged, I lie not, while studying mine sat on a think bible which sat on a large Ellicott commentary, as I stood up the corner of the commentary caught in my pocket and flipped the whole stack over and my A5X landed on another commentary on the floor with the other two volumes atop of it. There was a large bang as they landed... but my A5X was fine, but I wouldn't as confident if like the A5X2 the form factor wasn't even, nor had a folio covering the whole device. If you don't need that SD Card, I think you've made a good choice.
Try 2 finger on the side slider for erase. it is in the settings.
Exactly RTFM already. Heh.
I find it interesting that so many people leave their pen cap in the loop instead of removing the whole pen from the loop.

@dom_leary I add a loop to my paper journals and I always remove the pen completely. Dunno. Different people do different things.

Agreed. Also the click pen doesn't have this issue.
