That's a lot of work but I bet it is very satisfying once you know everything is in top working order.

Full service mate! I'm impressed at your mechanical skills, it definitely helps to have the right tools. I'm always pulling my bike apart to stay on top of creaks, many times I have found things hanging on by a thread so it's always worth investigating creaks.

Hey Greg, wow that was an absolute monster rebuild of the whole bike. I'm sure it probably feels as good as new now. One thing to note with those shimano motors is that unfortunately there is no one in Australia who can service the motors. There are a number of bearings inside the motors similar to what you have in the wheels and suspension pivots. The bearing on the drive side is usually what fails first. It's literally a ~$27 bearing but when it goes you can hear it grinding and may also feel play in the cranks. Unfortunately if it gets to that point there is no one here in Australia willing to replace this bearing for you. (It's just that these motors are not designed to be serviced, unlike say the bosch motors)
If you want to keep the bike for more than 3 years / 3500km then I would suggest that every say 2 months you remove the chainring from the motor and add some marine grease or other thick grease inside the groove that the lockring screws into and behind where the chainring sits. Yes this grease will attract dirt/dust. However the goal is to keep water out. So I would also suggest that you do everything possible to avoid water coming into contact with the motor around the axle/cranks. I turn my bike upside down, wipe the motor area with a damp cloth and then any water you spray on other parts of the bike won't just run down onto the motor.
Otherwise if you just sell the bike after ~2yrs then just do whatever as it won't be your problem, lol.
If you're ever around Bright, VIC and want that motor derestricted let me know and I can do it for cost. I have a 2022 E160 8000. Amazing bikes if you look after them.
Also with the rear hub, the dark grey plastic toothed ring shown at 23:04 is shimano part number Y3FM14000. That part is something of a known issue with those hubs. Sometimes they wear away or break and then the hub stops working. You can go on aliexpress and buy that part so that you have one handy if it ever happens to you. If you ever see that spacer looking worn down it's time to oder a new one. I say aliexpress because it seems that shimano Australia never have them in stock so your local shop probably won't be able to order one.
Can't wait to see you absolutely shredding one this. Also doing all this work yourself is going to save you tens of thousands of dollars over your lifetime of riding bikes.

@@GregBarling Yeah no worries. Also with the cables for the light, display and remote you might be able to route these through the rubber grommet on the side of the frame if you drill an extra hole. On the previous model that I have it was quite easy. I'm not 100% how sure it would be to do on your bike. It doesn't look as nice but makes servicing the fork/headset much easier.

Hey man, nice work, specialty tools are certainly the go. To be honest I'm a little afraid of messing things up servicing stuff myself but as with all things bike you make it look easy, thanks dude.

Thanks Adrian! it's not that hard, if you ever worried about messing anything up there is plenty of tutorials on TH-cam. Are you back on the bike yet mate?

Nah not on the bike yet, I'm waiting for a reco and because that knee has seen a fair bit of surgical action it's slightly more complicated. I've only been down to the track once since to save getting depressed about it, that rain has set the three-corner jacks off in spots, will have to go down and chip some out. Take it easy man.
