That’s funny Don I just took two tires of my sons (40) 2 year old Arians that wouldn’t hold air from new . He burns wood so I grabbed a split log and did the same rotating tire and hitting the back . They were well seized .Took them to my shop and cleaned them up Put a lot of sealer inside and over pressured the tire a by 5 lbs . No more issues . That’s the key . My old sears I bought when they went under I removed the wheels before it was even started and copper seized them . When you know you know . Great video . Merry Christmas or happy holidays what ever cranks your snow blower 😂 🎄🎅🛠️👏
A 10 Yr old MTD/Cub Cadet always stored in the garage and never had the wheels off only had 1 wheel seized luckily. Gonna grease these things every year now
Wow, you got off easy. I had a machine a couple years ago that took days to get the wheels off. After using PB Blaster and heat I ended up taking it a friend that had oxyacetylene and a press to remove them. A little anti-seize is the ounce of prevention. I have seen you do the recommended lubrication to the inside of the shaft that is clearly identified as annual maintenance and I doubt many even do it. I hope you are enjoying the Holidays and I Wish You, Your Family and all the channel viewers a Happy-Healthy and Prosperous New Year! 🎉
One more point to remember,..before you put wheel(s) back on the axel, clean all the dust and rust from the exposed axel and from inside the wheel axel hole too. Then coat both with a good quality 'marine' / water resistant type of grease before putting the wheel back on. This will keep the wheels from seizing on again ; if you do this once a season, you should have trouble free servicing.
I can confirm this method works... I used a similar method earlier this month on a free 2005 Yard Machines snowblower, except I had removed the tire and wheel on the other side, so the axle slid out and the key that pins the gear to the axle fell out. Easy enough to fix, but I'll remember that for next time.
I spent days trying to remove the left wheel on mine. Soaking and pounding on it. The nylon spacer had to be cut off which had a lot to do with the wheel seizing. The spacer prevented me from using heat and had to be removed. Very frustrating! The right side wasn't seized and slid right off. 😂
Dony, craftsman blower both wheels won't turn easily. With engine not running. Inside belly, shaft with large sprocket does not turn easily, hex shaft also hard to turn. Lots of surface rust. Friction wheel ok and not a problem. Can shaft bearings be removed and cleaned or replaced?
Also, use a bicycle pump to inflate the tires to proper pressure because like around here, snowblower sits in shed till Snow season and tires will lose air.
What about showing a wheel that is really seized? I have had to drill a hole next to the shaft, so I could insert an ironsaw slowly saw all the way through to the axle, after I had tried all other metods.
How do you do it if there is no bolt hole in the end of the shaft, I have a rear tine tiller with the same issue but instead of a bolt in the end it has a pin that goes through the shaft. I cant get it to move at all.
i will share a secret a old man taught me when i was a young man. if you have a pair of side cutters that you find out in the yard that's seized up do not put a lube on them. you may have to hit the handle with a hammer to get them to open a bit. then put them in a bucket of water and open and close them and they will open wider and wider it only takes less than a minute and they will be like new. water will soften the rust and remove it better than any lube.
By far the easiest method is pull the wheels off when you service the machine at the end of the season and apply grease or anti seize to the shaft. 3 minutes of prevention versus 30 minutes or more of swearing and frustration.
It’s too bad the manufacturers don’t use a nylon/plastic bushing between the wheel and the shaft, that would prevent this sometimes very difficult issue.

Cool way to remove a seized wheel. An 80% success rate makes it well worth trying. Thanks, Don. You're the man.

What a pro DonyBoy73 is! 👍👍👍
Another awesome video from my favorite youtuber
Keep up the great work buddy
great advise about deflating the tire
Excellent tip.💗 it's likely a good idea to take the wheels off a little sooner, rather than a little later /and use a little anti seize.

Awesome method, Dony. As always, thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. 👍❤️👍

Anti seize is like Franks Hot sauce… I put that s-t on everything! Good tip!
Excellent tips! Thank you!
Awesome tip Don!
Thank you.
Good job, also remember to add anti seize to the axle when reassembling,
Yeah I put some on my axles thank you for the video
Great tip Don. Thank you.
Brilliant!!! Thank you!!! 🛠
I am going to try this on my troy bilt. You a re a smart fellow.
Great tip!!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year…All the best!!!
I have used an HVAC blower motor puller to remove snowblower wheels.
Hapened to me once eaven heat did'nt work so I drilled two holes in the rim and used a puller , it worked perfectly .
Great info, thanks Donny
Again another great tip! Happy Holiday! Thanks Again 👌 😊
Great tip, thanks for posting.
Great Tip!
Thank you very much!
Good tip Don. Thanks for sharing.
Oh this is fabulous, thanks Don.
Thanks! Dony you are the best!
One more method to remember. Thanks
Great solution… Thanks, Don! 👍🏼
I do this but I use an air hammer. Works great
Great tip!

Thanks for posting Dony
GREAT FROM CANADA -----> MERCI BEAUCOUP

This is why it's good to remove the wheels once a year, clean up the axle and put a coat of grease on the axle ends
What if you have a snap ring holding on your tire???? No bolt whole in middle of shaft.
Assume same but something that fits inside wheel diameter.
👍great video
Thanks 🙏
I found a free snowblower with the rims welded to the shaft.lmfao wonder what that person was thinking.
Nice Tipp😎👍
Great tip If I heat it up ill have to paint the wheel
What about showing a wheel that is really seized?
I have had to drill a hole next to the shaft, so I could insert an ironsaw slowly saw all the way through to the axle, after I had tried all other metods.
Nice tip, thanks
Cool 😊
Dony do you always have to drain oil and gas 100% when flipping snowblowers up like this?
No need to drain oil. For gas, if it's pretty full . remove cap, place plastic bag over opening and re-install cap.
What's the upper hole above the axle for
Hammer and wire is the greatest human invention there is!
And duct tape!
Oh, we didn't get to see your torch this time. Hahaha
That is the same square d axel that is on the mtd riding movers

Keep the Penetrant oil on it for a few days then grab your biggest Hammer.....
@@gordbaker896 You have to try the other method Don explained. Spray the shaft area then hammer the inside of the tire outwards.

do you ever use a air chisel

Put antiziez on shaft before putting wheel on!!!
Unfortunately that method will not work on An Ariens as the wheel axle doesn't have a bolt hole like the MTD.
👍👍
👍
If I don't use the blower but 3 times a year and I put anti-seize on it last season, can I go more than one season without redoing it?
You should be ok
@@donyboy73 thank you. You do great work!
Don't forget the "Never seize" upon re assembly.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Dam!
That was not stuck on there if it moved some pulling on it, do one that is really rusted to the axle.
It’s too bad the manufacturers don’t use a nylon/plastic bushing between the wheel and the shaft, that would prevent this sometimes very difficult issue.
I saw it move before you even sprayed it.....
I guess you did not see My question. Bummer...
I didn't either!
