Relaxing is the best key in inclement weather, so having warm/dry kit really helps. I think so many people forget just how useful the clutch is for bike control :-)

The clutch work was something I self taught in my early days as a new rider on my ‘moped’. Never trained or taught the techniques. For years I thought it wasn’t really the ‘done thing’ ... (the extended use of the friction zone) however it just improved my rides and I just stuck with it. All the best for 2021 mate. Thanks for your encouragement and support of my channel the last two years. Much appreciated 🤝🙌🏼👍🏼

I try and avoid the rain but still do it , unless it is belting down. Great advise mate, take care and stay well.

One great tip is to stay away from the painted white lines in the wet on the road. In Australia those white lines will cause you to lose traction and slide. I am surprised I didn't hear this mentioned!

That's a point I've made on other videos too, a good one mate. The more white on the road the more danger and that's in the dry also. Interestingly I have found the white lines in Australia terrible in the wet compared to some countries. Amazes me how motorcyclists aren't considered in the slightest when it comes to road planning and the authorities who make decisions on these things. Some places have grit added to the white paint to make it grippy but I've not come across it here.

@@TheRiderGuider Great reply mate. Yes, Canberra tried some very fine crushed glass in the paint but I don't think it was really successful. (It wasn't enough glass to cut anyone as far as I know)

@@TheRiderGuider Worse is paint with oil or diesel on it. That can be lethal.

All good stuff but I find the biggest factors for me in rain is being comfortable, dry and with good vision all adds to my performance in bad weather. So mainly I will back off a little keep the bike more upright than normal with extra care on corners and roundabouts. I treat my visor with rain x so if rain does gather on the visor a little turn of the head clears it. If you are dry and comfortable you do not tense up which can lead to other problems in your reactions to how the bike handles. What I love most about wet riding is seeing all those drivers looking at you as if you are crazy to be out on a bike.

The most dangerous of rainriding is in first rain. I mean with this, when it has not rained for a long time. You can often see the very slippery rainbow colors mainly at traffic lights. In Belgium we are lucky not to have very often this first rain situation. Ride safe. 🤡

Hi Werner, yes the rain (when it comes) in Australia is often on to warm dry roads and can mean slippy conditions. Maybe not like the Roubaix cobbles though 🤣 ... the cyclists have some great skills on the approach to Belgium 🇧🇪👍🏼
