My feeling tells me that rock is probably going to get hot and crack, explode, or both….I don’t see any kind of firebrick, which are designed to withstand that kind of heat….also, the mortar will probably not withstand the constant heating either….maybe I’m missing something,…who knows

@David Davison Your right ,should be plastered with mortar on the inside, myself ,I would of used a firebrick with thin set,and layed stone backing behind firebrick and topped with cement with small stone mixed to add strength to the top

Having somewhat of a background in masonry, I wouldn’t expect this structure to last very long..
No explanation why? There's still some stone structures standing from thousands of years ago, using a lower quality of mortar.
