"For sentimental reasons" --- A lovely and wonderful rendition by Patti Page....... I fell in love with her voice in 1950,whilst serving in the Royal Navy,H.M.S.Tamar. Probably the best all-round female singer in the Fifties......and still going strong !!! Well done,Patti !......Lovely,and keep it up !......Bless you !!!
Why cant we have singers like Patti today it would be so nice ,what a voice what a beautiful lady and she still performs at 83 and still a very lovely lady , Patti is an american treasure and I for one think more of her songs should be played and her life and music honored more. There will never be a more talented singer or a more beautiful, she is a songs best friend.
What can I say about the beloved Patti Page that hasn't been said already. In a word "Sensational". She was a dish too, really gorgeous and ladylike. I've just heard her singing Sentimental Reasons and it has become a fave of mine which I will add to In Old Cape Cord and Boys' night out. This world, unfortunately, doesn't make singers like her anymore. She will be loved to eternity.
As a girl and young woman, I sang constantly... the old standards (like 'Sentimental Reasons') were my go to fav's. Sang in every talent show in school. Our sixth grade teacher, who looked and dressed just like "Pat Boon", used to pull the old upright piano out each Friday, bring me up in front of the classroom... He'd ask my choice, he'd play and have me sing to the class. Everyone always said I sounded just like this great lady... Patti Page. Quite the honor.
One Of The many wonderful songs Patti sang. It seems no matter if the song has been recorded by another artist she made it enchanting. She added charm to all of her songs. You can feel her emotion while she sings. Truly a precious singer and woman.
That was when music was great and the singers the best. Nice to be able to hear the simple melody and hear all of the words without electronic nonsense in the background. Just beautiful!
I first heard Patti Page in 1950, soinging The Tennessee Waltz, fell in love with her singing then, still crazy about her. Memories!! How certain songs define certain times in your life, just hearing a song takes you back to a time you remember fondly. Thank you Patti Page for so many great memories.

Patti, my favorite singer of all time. Not only is her voice smooth and controlled, her facial expressions are also subtle and poignant. Very few people have the combination of both sounding lovely and looking beautiful while singing. Patti is the best of both worlds. Love her!
I'm with you!Female singers these days seem to think they have to out beller each other, and the more outrageous the better.I'll take the charm, class and taste of Patti any time.
@@elliemerc01 You've misunderstood what she said. This clip is from 'The Patti Page Show', a syndicated variety television series back in the 50's starring Patti Page. This kind of television variety shows were a singer would get their own show were they performed their songs or invited other artists to perform their songs with the host were very popular in the 50's & 60's (Nat King Cole Show, Perry Como Show, Danny Kaye Show etc.). Just like all those other shows, all the songs featured on the Patti Page Show were pre-recorded by Patti and she would then lip sync them during the taping of the show (because audio technology back then didn't really offer the fidelity needed for live performances in tv studios). That's what Mia Hess was saying in her comment, that even though it's not live it's still great to see Patti perform it. It's still Patti Page you are hearing, not some other singer's voice with Patti lip syncing to it. She's just not performing it live on camera, that's all.
I used to play your music, it gives wonderful inspiration to go on living with a promising life to endure whatever challenge you're dealing with. It appease our spirit on a higher pedestal to keep on struggling in life.
I wish I could live 1930-60's life and learn how the life was that time. If any people born that time would love to know and they are the luckiest people than us of this generation.
@G E Those in the greatest generation were too good at what they did... It is hard to compete legitimately with people you know are better. The only way to compete is to offer something a little less wholesome. Then the next person can't compete legitimately, so they offer a little less. > Then we're left with the positive feedback loop of gradually crippling morality until the bar of quality is underground(hell) as we see in pop culture today.
Patti Page had style, class, warmth and even though in my opinion she was one of the best singers that ever lived, she made it seem so effortless. Not at all like today''s female singers, who parade on stage scantily clad, with all the bright lights, smoke and other special effects. Patti didn't need all that baloney...her singing was that good.
I agree Michael Buble does a good job, but I don't know of any of todays female singers that can compare with Patti Page, of course she was from a different era , when being a "lady"meant something.
When she stretches out the word "Youuuuu" and the vowel melts, shifts, and changes, without being forced or phony----very few singers can do *THAT* and make it sound MORE beautiful than the "regular" way.
I wonder if this music isn't available anymore because of demand? I like a lot of stuff, mostly cause "patti Page" was the 1st great singer I saw on TV at the age of about 5-6 yrs old. Memories, I find. can be encapsulated in music so well....plus Pattie was beautiful to look at!!
Hi, I'm up late here on West coast, but yes Patti is a phenomenal vocalist with vocal warmth and style that is unrivaled and unmistakable. Thanks for watching. Kevin
I love you for sentimental reasons I hope you do believe me I'll give you my heart I love you and you alone were meant for me Please give your loving heart to me And say we'll never part I think of you every morning Dream of you every night Darling, I'm never lonely Whenever you are in sight I love you for sentimental reasons I hope you do believe me I've given you my heart I love you for sentimental reasons I hope you do believe me I've given you my heart
Slow merveilleux sur lequel nous avons tous dansé! Comment captez-vous les shows de Patti Page qui a été l'interprète de mon beau-père Paul Durand avec All my love et Mademoiselle de Paree ?
It's almost hard to fathom how beautiful this woman's voice is. We will always love you, Patti.
This is the lullaby I've sang for my children since they were babies ❤

One of my favorite songs this time exceptionally well sung by Patti Page
Not only does Patti phrase over; she sings 2 phrases on ONE breathe! Spectacular!!
Another great singer from that wonderful era, to be rarely heard as time goes by, with the exception of TH-cam. What an era!
You're absolutely right!
And you are right to recognize quality.
Fallout and BioShock brought this music back. Video games are awesome.

BEAUTIFUL... ALL OF IT...
How did we stray so far from these values and talent?
+MsSmashone It began when they took God out of public schools. Liberal tolerance to follow...what a sad state of affairs.
