    Playoff expectations is too high 🤷🏾‍♂️💯

  • @IanSane
    @IanSane 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    Biggest problem for Bryce Young last year was that the guy taken after him completely outplayed him. So I would consider a reasonable expectation for Caleb Williams is that the quarterbacks taken after him don't show him up. That and his play isn't so terrible that we're questioning if he even knows how to play. So Caleb should be decent but not necessarily great. Clearly the best of his draft and showing his potential but possibly with some wrinkles that can be written off due to inexperience in the NFL. Last game of the season should also be better than the first and if it's worse, oh boy.

      Who cares if someone else has a better rookie year? That doesn't define a career.

    • @mistajones315

      Nah. bryces biggest issue was the team around him was horrible. He didn't have any good support.

    • @lionelreyna
      @lionelreyna 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well he definitely has the weapons around him to be great. Even Zach Wilson could play with the roster the Bears have.

    • @Dr-puppenstein
      @Dr-puppenstein 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Except stroud went to a far better team than Bryce. Panthers butchered themselves to get him and the texans had multiple first round picks and made probably more offseason moves than any team in the league. If bears fail after how many picks they've accumulated over the last 3 years plus all the players they've signed then williams was just massively overrated.

  • @73ajd1
    @73ajd1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Caleb just needs to get acclimated to the team and the game, just like everyone else. He's a rookie, irregardless of hype or draft position.

  • @nickh2935
    @nickh2935 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    You can hype him up all you want, but we remember how many times the “experts” have been completely wrong. Mahomes is the best QB in the league yet he was a project QB in the draft with a lot of things going against him. And that is my point, college performance and draft hype isn’t a good predictor of how well that QB will do in the nfl.
    The thing that matters most is how well a team can develop a QB and improve their skills. That is what makes or breaks a QB’s career. It’s a team sport in the end. The bears do not have the best track record when it comes to that, that’s what I’m basing my expectations on.

    • @Dr-puppenstein
      @Dr-puppenstein 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without one of the best offensive coaches in the league and a top 5 roster his entire career mahomes would've been mid. He was a project qb that was gifted the perfect situation similar to purdy with the 49ers. Teams try so hard to pick their franchise qb and think it's a bust because the rest of the team sucks and then overhype the ones who are carried to wins.

    Bears fan here. Bears won 7 games last year and their defense didn't start clicking until the 2nd half. They also had a few colossal 4th qtr losses. They've upgraded at C, WR, and S. Caleb SHOULD be an upgrade at QB in week 1, even if he's just average at first. Plus, whatever they do at 9 should be a blue-chip starter. There are no guarantees in football, but the Bears should be a fringe playoff team on paper.

  • @SoulKingKurosaki
    @SoulKingKurosaki 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    It's gonna be high regardless. Cuz people expecting Brady, Mahomes, Manning levels of greatness. They'll say "oh well the Texans went to the playoffs last year, the Bears should do the same"

    • @LiveLXStudios
      @LiveLXStudios 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, they weren’t far off the playoffs last year and the roster is only better. Of course people are going to expect it. If he’s being sold as better than the very popular Fields, that is actively the expectation.

    The best rookie QBs on paper are Cam Newton and Justin Herbert. Cam the best dual threat QB and Justin the best passer. But Brock Purdy was really good his rookie year at the helm helping a really good team to the NFC Championship game. Then CJ Stroud. What a run! Winning the division and a playoff game as a rookie! Numbers are good but the run tells the "clutch!"
    Unrealistic high expectations of a rookie Caleb Williams would be a 5000 yard pass season with 40 TDs and winning the division and/or a NFC Championship appearance.
    Sure it's highly unlikely but so is a QB of his talent to join a roster like the Bears. If Williams translates to the NFL the way he played college all the above is very possible. He has the team. He's very talented. If he plays all 17 games and the Bears stay healthy I don't see why Williams and the Bears don't have 4000+ pass yards, 30+ pass TDs and a playoff berth.

      Ehhh… you have to remember that we never had a QB who could see the field. Fields and the guys before couldn’t get past the first read and stuck to them for the most part hoping they would get open in which the oline ended up buckling which led to those sacks. The Bears offensive line is better than what fields made them look like. Caleb can see the field make plays, and there is no question on that.

    Don’t expect him to be in the top 20 in stats for QBs this year unless we have tons of Qb injuries again this year. The guy is completely overrated. How many QBs have we seen come out Riley’s system and not live up to expectations. Hurts is the only one and I’d attribute that to playing both for Saban and Riley and the system they play in Philly. I don’t expect Caleb to be a starter after 3-4 years in the NFL because he relies on his WRs being overwhelmingly better than those defending them and a top Oline. He won’t have that coming into the NFL and we will see him run a lot and making poor decisions just like when he got flustered at USC.
