  • Professional cyclists really do get the best of the best. They ride the fastest bikes, use the best available tech, and have a team of mechanics behind them to keep everything in top condition. Ollie went to Italy to visit team EF Education-EasyPost and take a behind the scenes look at their mega Muc-Off truck, as well as getting some pro tips on cleaning your bike!
Correction: 3:41 Muc-Off has removed PTFEs from their products as they can cause damage to wildlife.

I remember when I first started working as a team mechanic, in the late 80s for Team GB. There were no 'team bikes' everyone had a different bike, if someone had a puncture you had to send the punctured tubular back to the federation as 'proof'. It was grim. Working for a Pro Team was a revelation, but still pretty shitty.

Team trucks and busses are always interesting. I will definitely try the trick with the degreaser and the brush. Shimano should invest a few grams and make the roadie brakes more like the MTB brakes. My XTRs need practical no service. At some point they start to squeak and usually I‘m on the metal spring between the pads at that point and they need new pads.

Just got round to watching this video now, having just subscribed to EF Education etc., etc., etc.🙄😉 Loved it, but didn't feel comfortable with the 'bike maintenance' guys being called 'bike mechanics'.🤨 I know that they refer to themselves as the same, but I think that it's about high time they were referred to as 'cycle technicians'. After all, bikes are a lot more oomplex these days, with electroncs, hydraulic hoses, power metres, disc brakes etc. We need to acknowledge the important and highly technical maintenance that they provide, in a time restrictive enviroment. Great work guys.👍

Disk brakes are a joke within the circles. It's only a matter of time before manufacturers are confident they've sold a disk brake bike to everyone who's likely to buy one and they'll move on to try and sell the next 'thing' it's just how it works.
