AMAZING, ONLY 10K VIEWS, great arrangement, great drummer and bass player and the lead vocal is very pleasant, I had this album back in 68 but forgot about it until you tube reconnected me to it, I always liked Kind of a Drag and Don't you Care: Enjoy! oh, I'm 71. Saw the Doors in Long Beach, Buffalo Springfield in Hollywood with Steppenwolf and Saw Hendrix in Hollywood all live, Yay for the 60's.
The release date for the album is 1968 - after Sgt. Pepper. I've always thought this is one of the best post Pepper albums out there. Solid all the way through.
IN THOSE DAYS EVERY BAND WAS ALMOST FORCED BY THEIR PRODUCERS TO BE COMING UP WITH A PROPER 'ECLECTIC' ALBUM IN RESPONSE TO SGT. PEPPERS BY THE BEATLES...IT WAS THE AGE OF EXPERIMENTATION AND TOOK MOST BANDS PLACES THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE GONE UNLESS THE BEATLES HAD SET THE BAR THAT HIGH...
steverlfs, I trust this message finds you in vibrant health! I am unable to establish the exact release date of "Portraits", although I know it was in the year 1967 not 1968.I know Sgt.Peppers was released on June1,1967 - my 20th birthday. Do you know the actual day and month of release? Thankyou - I eagerly await your response.
I listened to this album countless times in the 60’s.
Can you please tell more about your life? Where did you listen to it, with who, under what circumstances, what substances, etc?

i wore this album out i love it!
A marvelous piece from the" PORTRAITS" album too few are aware of!!!
Portraits should be on the "1,000 Albums to Hear Before You Die" list.
One of the greatest cocept albums created, which doesn't get too much credit.
sumofone1969 They wanted to show they’d moved beyond Kind of a Drag. They sure did!
RIP Marty Grebb

Actually this was juat slightly before Sgt. Pepper's, making it one of the most visionary albums of the sixties. also blatantly overlooked.

steverlfs - My research tells me the actual release date of "Portraits" was January 1, 1968, exactly seven months after the release of Sgt. Peppers!
MrGoldenthroat sure can hear the influence. But I also hear how they could have influenced Chicago.
Correct. I was a High School Senior at the time and sold records after school. I bought the album.
I still have my Lp , androstenedione to it.
The comment from July 12, 2019 was actually written by David Dunbar not Aida Dunbar, I was on my wife's you tube account when I wrote it.
@sumofone1969 I agree sumo...
