One of my favorite R&B songs of the 00s. Very well produced. So simple and chill. Just instruments and Aaliyah adlibing on top of her background vocals.
The R&B, chill feel I get when listening to this song. Gets my hips going every time. My favorite song of hers. Her vocal style as I remember it is smooth but never overpowering. RIP Aaliyah. Great song choice to review
I'm so glad that you checked to see who wrote it. Static Major was an amazing songwriter! He wrote so many hits in addition to the ones you mentioned. He wrote Pony, Same Ol G, and So Anxious for Ginuwine( his vocals are usually prominent on the tracks too), he wrote Lollipop for Lil Wayne, he wrote quite of sings for the group Pretty Ricky and he was also in a group himself called Playa, such an underrated 90s r&b group. You should react to their song called Cheers 2 U which he also wrote. Sadly, like Aaliyah he is no longer with us. He passed away in 2008.
Hidden gem for you to check out: Death of a Playa , featuring Aaliyah and her brother on the track. Her mellifluous vocals AND the highs and lows of her voice are chilling
I personally adore "We Need a Resolution", but also "Try Again" and "More Than a Woman". Such a shame she was ripped away from us just when she was hitting the world in a huge way.
Oooh and for a truly weird somewhat off beat track I'd recommend "I Am Music" where her magic is truly angelic, laid over a deliciously odd production. One of my favourite songs back in the day, played it (and especially her part) on loop!
At 545 you nailed it. Aaliyah was revered for how effortless and natural she was. She never felt forced and never had to try hard. The whole song is filled with entendres and sexual metaphors but it goes over your head because of how laid back and classy she interprets the song. You are literally looking at her on her last day on earth in the scenes with the dress and underwater. She literally died hours after the vid wrapped at around 6:55 on August 25 ,2001. Her death went right into 9/11 for me as a young teen coming of age so in a way I never really fully got past it
I remember crying when they finally released this video ❤️💔 Her team naturally had their trauma to deal with to get this edited and out. I may remember wrong, but I think her boyfriend was a producer on this record?! She didn’t get much time away from «the monster» before she died, but the whole More than a woman record is so good and so telling 💝🙇🏼♀️
Oh my God, I've been living under a rock. I've just looked up what you're referring to and I had no idea. I avoided the documentary about the guy because I just believed he was scum and didn't need the details. Man, what a tragic life aaliyah had. I'm going to listen to all her stuff, I'll do plenty on this channel
@@bridgethegapreactions She was finally Living her own life, new boyfriend (Damon Dash) who seemed nice. He spoke about the monster after she died and got so much hate from the business and people around K, because very few dared. K was always creepy and as an Aaliyah fan about her age, it was mind blowing how he didn’t go down already back then.
All of that is speculation and theres inconsistencies in the stories that person that said had. (in regards to aaliyah and him) Why everytime Aaliyah is mentioned yall love to mention him too. It needs to stop.
You absolutely have to react to Aaliyah - giving up. Vocally her best performance by miles. She recorded it for the movie roll 'Sparkle' which was produced by Whitney Houston (Whitney handpicked Aaliyah to play the roll and there's an interview of Whitney saying Aaliyah was her sparkle, no one else could play the roll and after Aaliyah passed, Whitney buried the film for around 11 years until she decided to giver Jordin sparks a shot). You will not be disappointed with the song!
R.i.p. to 🙏 Aaliyah Dana Haughton ❤ and her crew 😢💔😇 who died in that plane crash as well r.i.p. Gina smith, Christopher Maldonado, Douglas krats, Anthony Forman, Jose Morales,
I just stumbled across your channel and I love all your content. I absolutely agree with your opinions with this song. This is such a smooth track from Aaliyah. I love how she doesn't overdo her vocals because it gives the song a seamless flow. The delicacy of her voice, the sensual tones, and silky cadences are all "chefs kiss". Amazing reaction btw! If you could, can you react to (Amerie - Why Dont We Fall In Love); from 2002.
really like your reacts. I was a teenager when this was out from the same city as Timbaland. This music had a buzz around it that lit up the whole area. Teddy Riley and Pharrell where here aswell so it was the epicenter for some great music. Her voice is unbelievably smooth.
A Correction to someone Aaliyah's Boyfriend was not A Producer of her last Album , The Producers are on the Album Which Are Barry Hankerson ( Her Uncle ) Jomo Hankerson ( Her Cousin & Barry's Son ) & Aaliyah ( As Co Executive Producer ) .
Not sure if you knew, but she died in the helicopter crash right after filming this video. Eerie how it ended with her descending up in the water and light…
Oh, I didn't know it was this one! I remember reading at the time that it was from a video shoot. She was so cool and had such wide appeal - she would have been a megastar. She was in a couple of movies too wasn't she?
@@bridgethegapreactions yes, she was in Romeo Must Die and Queen of the Damned. She was filming Matrix 2 & 3 when she passed abd was signed up for many other roles as well.

Not my choice, but I'm still very bad at remembering to shout out people who have requested things on videos!
Keep the Aaliyah reactions coming!🔥👏🏾 she has so many other perfect songs along with this one
And my fave of hers with the breath control...." I Don't Wanna"
