I can only imagine where she would be right now. During the 2000’s, she was really gonna explode. She was doing movies, more music, she was planning a world tour, she was gonna open a clothing line, and she had several movie deals with Warner Brothers. She was already mainstream and poppin in the 90s, but the 2000’s was her years to really have that mega stardom she really worked for. RIP Babygirl❤️
@SmurfyToonz Yeah. Aaliyah got to film a couple of scenes for The Matrix before she passed, but she didn’t film enough so that she could be kept in the movie, which is why her part was given to actress Nona Gaye.
Fun fact: Aaliyah made this song when she was 18 but the record company thought she was to young so she had to wait until she was older to record it
Rock The Boat(2001) was written by the late and great Static Major and produced by Keybeats( Aaliyah only worked with R. from summer “93” to summer “94” from that point they never worked or spoke to each other again) the entire “Aaliyah” era was about her owning her womanhood and being in total control both personally and professionally(a defining and iconic moment).

R Kelly worked with Aaliyah during her first album in 1993-94. In 1995 Aaliyah wasn’t working with R. Kelly after the marriage controversy. Rock the boat was written in the late 90’s, but her label thought the song was too mature for her cuz she was in her late teens to early twenties, so she released it in 2001. So this was way after she stopped messing with R Kelly, so I don’t think he had anything to do with this track.

Aaliyah died the day the shoot ended in the airplane crash at age 22. This song was produced by some other producer who's name I forgot. Earlier that year she had a premonition about her death explained in her MTV Diary of...

All the scenes dancing on the boat were shot on a soundstage in front of green screen a week before they left for the Bahamas. The action was added to the boat in post production.
mk toohtwo no. The only scenes that were done on green screen were the ones of her and her dancers dancing on the water with waves around them. Those scenes were filmed in Miami where they flew to the Bahamas after. Everything else was shot in the Bahamas, there’s behind the scene footage of it all on her BET access.

Fun fact. Her video For more than a woman was done but record label wanted rock the boat, so they sent her to film it early. This was the last video she shot and she died on plane leaving this shoot. They used footage and put it together to make final video. I was so sad when this came on the news that day because she was/is so important to me. She was 22 and just really getting started. RIP baby girl.

We was definitely robbed. I remember that fateful day being 14 and just starting 9th grade and Aaliyah being my forever childhood sweetheart. She was alive and vibrant and our Detroit girl then like lightning she was gone. It was shocking and scared my soul because that was the first person whom I knew that I loved from a distance that died so young. I felt robbed of seeing her life cut short. It was not fair and still it isn't fair.

R.kelly produced her 1st album and after that she cut ties with him & started working with Timberland & missy for her one & a million album & onwards. If you look at interviews after her 1st album she looks annoyed when asked about R. Kelly and refuses to talk about him. Even though she passed back in 01 it still feels recent. I was a huge fan. The music video is hard to watch honestly. I heard that her father has since passed and now is buried beside her at her gravesite

R.i.p. to Aaliyah 🙏 and her crew that lost there lives as well r.i.p. to Christopher Maldonado, Gina Smith, Douglas krats, Anthony Forman, and the pilot Jose Morales and her Bodyguard they all died 22 years ago on August 25th Aaliyah is buried inside the wall in New York 💔😢 this year in August it will be 23 years of there death the pilot Jose Morales had Cocaine and alcohol in his system at the time of the crash Aaliyahs body was found 20 feet away from the wreckage she had a head injury and her back was badly burned 🔥then she went into shock and thats how she died if she would've lived with those injuries she would've died anyway she was 22 years old when she died she would've been 45 years old and Aaliyah was giving a sleeping pill 💊 cause she was afraid of flying and r.i.p. to Aaliyahs father Michael Haughton who passed away in 2012 hes buried next to Aaliyah and he would've 75 years old she was buried on August 31st on Friday afternoon in Brooklyn New York

Aaliyah and her crew decided to leave early because they were tired from working all day long so the pilot Jose Morales showed up late at the airport in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 cause he was busy getting drunk and high and he wasn't supposed to fly anymore air planes because he got arrested for drugs and stealing he also faked his pilot licenses so thats how he was able to fly and Aaliyah was complaining about the plane being so small when it finally arrived so an i witness saw a man give Aaliyah a sleeping pill then he carried her on the plane that she was afraid to get on thats shady as hell and that was the wrong plane they were on Lenny Kravitz already had a plane already ready for Aaliyah and her crew but the video director Hype Williams took the plane for him self and the people who worked at the Marsh Harbor airport in the Bahamas at the time of the crash they did not even leave any flowers or anything for Aaliyah and her crew they were trying to cover up Aaliyahs death its so many shady things surrounding her death

It's sad to say this but it's her own fault she died after this video she was traveling back to the US on a small plane and the pilot said you have to much stuff with you wait for another plane and she said I don't care and the crash was caused by weight as all her stuff weighed them down and crashed
