Great cast! It isn't an easy play, contrary to what some people believe. This version sounds very well. As for Rona, congratulations for soldiering on despite of how she must have felt.
I am doing spelling bee for the second time, The first time round (in 2012) I used this version as a guide... This time round I had to dig through you tube to find it again... have seen various versions... this one is the best, so well done... and thanks for posting...
This is the most charming version of this production ever. I've fallen in love with this cast and production and I wish I could see it with an unsick Rona because I bet her voice is BANGING
My theater group and I are perfoming this and watching this made me feel better about Playing Chip. Thanks for posting this the entire cast was amazing.
Incredibly well done. my school did this musical two years ago (sadly, I didn't audition) and I had forgotten just how good it is. So much more than just a comedy.
I am in LOVE with this production. I watched it religiously as a kid. Are any of you guys still doing theatre? Thanks for keeping this up for us :) It's stellar!
I really, really, really like this version... I've watched all parts about five times! I think you were an amazing William! Pretty much everyone got the characters personalities down flat. I think Olive could've tried to sing bigger, and Chip was a little bit flat and sharp here and there, but I still love this! Especially 'Second' =-3
This was a great show, everyone did wonderful! As everyone mentioned, "poor rona!" and I do feel for her, BUT...I'm wondering why someone else couldn't do the part? It's not a huge part to learn and could be by listening to the cast recording/working with the musical director for a bit. Still, good job with what you had (especially the rap at the end - clever!)
@jhayson9999 It's even better when it's actually there ;) She turned the song into a rap because she had lost her voice to the point where she could barely pitch notes. Check her performance of "Nothing" in A Chorus Line if you want an example of how she normally sings.
@jojomojo245 There actually are a couple other full productions on TH-cam. Check out Northwestern University's version (that's the one I watched prior to doing this show). They do the "adults only" version.
@IJVin Yes, it was the actress' choice to do so :) She found it to be much more inspiring, sincere, and beautiful. Not everyone gets a happy ending, but everyone has the choice to make their own happy ending.
Better actors than singers. Chip hits just about every note embarrassingly flat. Overall an engaging, endearing performance from everyone. The source material is obviously great, but I really like how much they put into the characters. Wish I could hear the music better (I'm intrigued by the pianist), but it's more important to clearly hear the dialogue (which we can! hurrah!). Fun show, thanks for sharing
I love how Rona lost her voice and rapped- that's a true actress

That was utterly fabulous! Every single bit!
Rona got creative here!!! She was obviously sick, and thought on her feet. Props, girl! I love it:)
Can't get over how brilliant this cast is.

Thanks for uploading this! I enjoyed it! :)
OHMYGOD IM CRYING THIS RONA
My theater group and I are perfoming this and watching this made me feel better about Playing Chip. Thanks for posting this the entire cast was amazing.
This was absolutely amazing
Um, the girl playing Rona can sing very well, she lost her voice and didn't have an understudy available. Take your hateful comments elsewhere.
She lost her voice prior to this show; she physically couldn't. And there was no understudy for her role, except for The I Love You Song.
Amazing production!
I just found this, as it's the only full version of this musical online. The rap: hilarious. I like it even more every time I watch it.
dude, you're so freakin' fantastic.

You were a great barfée :)

Leaf Coneybear has... cats...
@joevinc27 right?! she lost her voice, and turned it into a show stealer. love it.

You used the original last line? Interesting... and a little depressing.
Also, I really like Marcy's reaction to Chip's last line.
@pashlu22 Thank you!

@hsmithtv Aww, thank you :) And it is! Go watch her version of "Nothing" on this channel!

I love the Barfee in this. He reminds me of Gerard way, wtf
Where was Olive's mom in bows?
In “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, there is normally cast doubling for Olive’s parents (and also Jesus, and Logainne’s dads).
Bell
why didn't rona sing? just asking
The rap doesn't fit Moments 1 and 2... but it works awesome on 3.
@whatever1408 *pwn. Come on, didn't you learn anything from this show? ;)
the rest of the cast is lovely. except Rona
Tito Babbitt she lost her voice what do you expect? She gave it her best go and honestly it made this productions quality go up
