Leandro Lo videos got me into jiujitsu last year, he had insane guard passing.
Thank you for breaking some of them down

So far my favorite guard passes aren't ones I can do, but ones that I've had done to me. For example, yesterday, I tried pulling guard on a black belt, and he just dove over my leg right into side control. I was just like "damn, that's cool."

Yeah that’s huge for guard retention but also for understanding guard passing

I like to pin their foot to their butt and step around. Low pressure pass.

Thank you for this. What made you start Jiu Jitsu, or martial arts in general?

Hey. I have a very unusual question. If you're in closed guard and trying to pass it, does it matter what leg to push down? I mean if you'll push your opponent top leg, he has support of bottom leg. But if you push a bottom leg, he has no support under it. Or am I wrong?

    • @JonThomasBJJ

It’s a good question, I have never really given it much thought as I usually don’t use that method for opening closed guard but it would be worth investigating for sure. I’ll think about it and check it out at gym at some point

Hey Jon, I like your stuff! I have a question about guards like DLR and RDLR. When I'm playing them, my coach will post his hands on my legs so it makes it hard for me to move my legs around. In that case, would you put your legs down and do some kind of wrestle up? Thanks.

Well dlr and reverse dlr would function very differently. In dlr if they are pushing both your legs down you can usually off balance them quite well with a collar grip in reverse dlr if they push your top leg back well I usually try to clear my bottom leg out and escape position
