I am not a senior, I'm 18 years old, but this is the best tutorial I have found yet. The material is presented in an easily digestible way, and the tutorial goes slower than most I've found, which makes it much simpler to follow along. Thank you!
I just watched and did this first lesson. It is amazing! You are an excellent teacher and teach a bit slower than others and I was about to follow and learn the 2 chords. I hope you have more lessons but I am not finding them. You are an EXCELLENT instructor!
This is the best ever thanks you sir. I note three years elapsed from time of my viewing I can only hope you are well. I wish there were a second tutorial. Worth paying for.❤
I'm a 54yo woodworker, and I just finished building my first musical instrument, a concert ukulele. I've been looking for a good beginner tutorial and I think I've found the one that works for me. This lesson was so simple I know I can remember it. Easy practice and it'll stick. Thanks so very much for doing this.
Hi there and thank you very much for your time with the video..I am 46 year old Irish man who never played any instruments but recently decided to learn ukelele and I am grateful for your help thanks Darragh nee from Galway Ireland 🇮🇪
I'm 67 and learning ukulele for the first time and I LOVED your tutorial. You went at my pace and explained in the most simple terms from the parts of the ukulele, the placement of fingers on the fretboard and how to strum. Thank you so very much.
Thank you so very much, Rob!! I'm 64 and just learning to play the ukulele. So fun! And, you make it easy. I appreciate your deliberateness. That way we can learn by finger memory. Love that! Looking forward to the second lesson. :)
My son is 10 he has been trying to learn how to play ukulele by watching online videos. He is a lefty and has trouble following along to other videos. He loved this video so much. Your calm demeanor and the way you teach is perfect. My son and I wish you had more lessons to follow up
Thank you so much ! Very patient tutor ! God bless you for sharing your knowledge ! Best regards, Serge Uppiah from Mauritius, small island in the Indian Ocean !!!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I appreciate the easy slow rate the material is presented. The video takes the frustration out of following along.
GREAT video. Helped a kid, who has been discouraged by other instruments, get started on the Ukulele and he LOVES it! Really appreciate that the video covers how you hold the Uke, proper finger position, and strumming technique.
Thank you for that lesson, I am a complete beginner with my Ukulele arriving in about a week. Your lesson has given me confidence that i will succeed in my endeavour to learn to play a stringed instument at aged 80.
Thank you sooooo much! My mom who is very musically talented now has dimentia and she is playing along with you. You have an incredible teaching method, at a perfect pace for her (and me too!).👏👏👏👏👏👏
I loved this lesson! I'm a senior-beginner and the way you did this first lesson was perfect - from how to hold the instrument to first chord practices showing positioning on frets. It seems the action needs to be at the wrist while strumming. Can't wait for more, thank you! 😊🎶
Hi Rob: Thank you for the lesson. I’m 68, and this is my second attempt at playing my Kala uke. Hope this will help my fingers from hitting other strings. Will definitely check out your videos. 😎🇺🇸
I commented under another post (oops) but want to say a bit more. Rob I am 62 years old and always wanted to play a musical instrument. I bought a couple Ukuleles so am using the concert size since I have arthritis pretty bad but really want to play. I found you today and did my first lesson today. I am excited because I do believe I can learn to play the Ukulele after your lesson. Thanks so much! You do not know how encouraging this was to me! I look forward to your posting more lessons.
Thank you for kind comments- glad it helped. I have another video in the works, but I have been so busy I am really behind. In the meantime, if you are interested in a private lesson online, feel free to reach out. Best-Rob
Thank you. These are easy to follow lessons. The camera angle, however, makes it impossible, for a novice, to see which fingers are actually pressing on the strings. I had to refer to diagrams of the chords.
Thank you LITA, I just discover your video, you are the Best Tutor of beginner Ukulele. Please please when will the 2nd tutorial be ready. Blessings, and much appreciation.
Well, that was fun. I should grab my Tenor but gearing up for cello lessons, if I remain ultra brave. ... A new sub tho. Musicality, or not. Looking more for Jazz, Blue Bossa, etc.
Hello from the UK Rob. Thank you for this video which I will share with newcomers to our volunteer ukulele band. We are all retired and eager to learn more UKE skills. We entertain residents in local Nursing Homes which is a joy. How do we access your other videos on u tube please? Thanks, Caroline.
How interesting! Where is Moran?? State? I run a senior learning uke class outside of Seattle. This semester our theme is LOVE, and we have a different category each week. I arranged an ensemble piece to play….and added words….AND decided that a little Here Comes the Sun riff at the start and end would be cool…..soooooooo, your intro caught my attention! I will send the several beginners I have your way.
You should of covered how to tune the Ukulele, type of strings, and how to change strings. Otherwise pretty good lesson, I think I'll go out and buy one.
Was this the only video? I love his style of teaching and actually learned the two chords (this was my sixth video and I could actually follow this one) I don’t see any further lessons 😢 maybe I just don’t see them
Too funny! Don't I wish. Actually what happened was I got into an auto accident awhile back and got behind on a lot of things (I'm fully recovered now).

Thanks- glad it was helpful. The action should mainly be from the wrist, but it is ok if your arm moves a bit. Just don't do the Pete Townsend thing!

PLEASE do a lesson on Here Comes The Sun! And PICKING! And Arpeggios! PLEASE!
Great attitude and good patience:)
Thank you!
Hi Rob …I can’t seem to find any more lessons and I’m hoping you’re considering doing some more…..I really enjoyed this video…🙂
Thanks! I am going to do another video shortly. I teach in a school music program besides working for LITA so have been super busy.

Great video, thank you for posting. Can you show us the cords for Bob Dylans Lay Lady Lay?
Thank you for this first lesson. I am just starting out and it was extremely helpful. I look forward to your next video. Best wishes to you.
I’m 73 and am playing for the first time. Thank you so much for this lesson. How do I get the next lessons?
Thanks for making lesson easy to folloe
I'm thinking real hard about getting a ukulele! A concertina was way tooooo hard!!
Thank you LITA, I just discover your video, you are the Best Tutor of beginner Ukulele. Please please when will the 2nd tutorial be ready. Blessings, and much appreciation.
Working on it! Sorry for long delay!
My dog has fleas is how I learned as a child!
Very helpful! Thank you
Very good explanation we use G good Children E eat A apples.
With my young students I often have them make up their own funny ones
Great stuff!! any more vids to come?
Yes, I am planning on doing some more in the future.
Is there a chapter two for uke learning also? I'm on a roll! Thank you
Working on it!
I know you all must be having a great time

Hi Rob... I loved this as a first lesson.... just don't know how to find #2...??
Wow, Thanks.

We entertain residents in local Nursing Homes which is a joy. How do we access your other videos on u tube please? Thanks, Caroline.
That's great- I did this video through the nonprofit LITA, which has a music program I run sending volunteer musicians into senior care facilities
I have another one in the works, but I'm really behind as I am busy teaching guitar and uke at a school and privately
My grandkids call me G. I'm gonna use the string memorization phrase of G Can Equal Awesome. :)

Steve- thanks! We are in Marin County, California. That's great that you run a senior uke class.
when will lesson 2 be available please ?
I am working on it- thanks for patience. (I got into an auto accident awhile back and got behind on a lot of things - fully recovered now).
Your Ukulele looks nice and country if you don’t ask me asking where did you buy it from thanks
It's a Kala Resonator Tenor. You'll be able to find it online or at a music store.
when is the next lesson going to be and how will we know
Thank you so much for this.already subsribed your channel.
Is there going to be a second tutorial
Hey, Rob. Are you a Todd Rundgren fan, by any chance? Love is the Answer is what made me ask that question....
The nonprofit LITA is over 40 years old- not sure the origin of the name but thanks for pointing out the Rundgren song!
You should of covered how to tune the Ukulele, type of strings, and how to change strings. Otherwise pretty good lesson, I think I'll go out and buy one.
Thanks for comment. There are actually plenty of videos on those subjects, but if there is enough interest I might do a separate video
Was this the only video?
I love his style of teaching and actually learned the two chords (this was my sixth video and I could actually follow this one) I don’t see any further lessons 😢 maybe I just don’t see them
That's on me, but I am planning on doing some more this summer! I have been very busy teaching in a school music program and have gotten behind!
This is just what I need, but I don’t see a lesson two?
Me bad! I'm almost done with the second lesson. I do this for a nonprofit so my time has been limited
How do I find your second and subsequent ukulele lessons, Rob, please?
I am working on Lesson 2 right now- about halfway through. I'm just very busy for an "old guy"!
@@litaloveistheanswer1620 , thank you!!
Where do I find lesson 2 love lesson 1
Working on it! I'm about halfway through
❤❤❤
i see that you are using a 'kala'? it is gorgeous. is that a design on either side or do they have a function? i can't find one like that.
It's a Kala Resonator ukulele (with F sound holes)
@@litaloveistheanswer1620 thank you so much for these great helpful videos and for taking the time to reply.
Thank you for the lesson. I'm 68 and playing now at care homes. I like your uke. What is that please and thank you
It's a Kala Resonator
Can u show the Cmajor scales
Yes, on my list!
I found this video to be very helpful….where do I find your 2nd lesson?
I'm working on it! I do this for a nonprofit and I've gotten a bit behind
Plese tell me Rob, what notes did you play after "dream" at the end of row your boat?
It's just a G chord followed by a C chord
Hey thanks for the lesson I'm a beginner and I love it👍😁🙏SUB 😁
This really works for me lesson 2??
Yeah, working on it- just got behind between giving lessons and nonprofit duties,
@@litaloveistheanswer1620, have you create more beginning ukulele lessons yet? I hope so!! :)
Hi I want to learn Ukulele but can please advise what is the type of instrument for beginner & not expensive. 🙏Thank you.
Doris- I would suggest a soprano or a concert size ukulele (soprano is the smallest). Kala makes some good inexpensive ones.
@@litaloveistheanswer1620 Thank you. Stay safe. 🙏
How do I get to lesson 2? Can’t seem to find it
It's halfway completed. It's a slow process because I do this for a nonprofit and have another job teaching guitar and uke so time is limited
Rob must have won Lottery and gone to the moon, never to be heard of again.
Too funny! Don't I wish. Actually what happened was I got into an auto accident awhile back and got behind on a lot of things (I'm fully recovered now).
Can a baritone uke be tuned to the same tuning as the smaller models?
Thanks for your question. I wouldn't suggest doing that. There would be way too much string tension.
In North Wales Uk we say Goats Can Eat Anything😊
Aren't baritone ukes tuned DGBE?
Yes, but I'm not playing a baritone uke.
Is there other lessons?
Not yet, but I am planning on doing some follow up lessons! Thanks- Rob
Are you still hoping to add follow ups Rob?
@@JillJesshope Yes! Apologies- my teaching schedule plus working for a nonprofit keeps me busy, but I still want to do additional videos
You are great so waiting for more lessons!!!
@@litaloveistheanswer1620
Yes, I'm waiting for the next lessons, please! My husband finds you to be a wonderful teacher.
Isn't that a G cord on a baritone uke?
I'm playing a tenor uke. The C on a tenor uke fingering would be a G on a baritone
What type is that uke?
Kala baritone resonator
Or Gotta Catch ‘Em All is easier for me
Oh I like that!
Just one lesson where the rest?
