The fact that they mention the maximum flight time of 45 minutes and a payload capacity of 4kg on what they call "Racing drone" clearly indicates that this was meant for something else.
the out of box tuning on this drone was complete trash.. they come with a very basic AM32 firmware tune that is more for a 3" drone. after fixing the ESC and loading a basic 5" freestyle PID tune i was getting around 20 minutes on a 3300mah 6s and the odd vibrations went away.. i assume the vibrations are literally caused by the really bad tune making the motors surge constantly.
I believe ardupilot firmware would be better suited for these sizes and there are presets and autotune features. I am also building one right now mainly for long range cruising with hd camera. I will be glad if you can link some videos or url for getting these sizes to fly better. Or even your tuning process. Thank you.
That hard voltage drop right away that does not want to come back up even when just sort of floating is a dead giveaway for a vibration issue. And then the squealing sound they mention. It just feels different flying a quad with that kind of issies. I burned 2 motors like that.
Hey Stew, Welcome to Beast class quads. I have only flown one, and I love flying it. You are going to need a lion pack to get the most time for flying, but you won't be able to fly aggressive, they are not meant to be flown like that. I just built a 6s 4500ma lion pack for my 7in lon̈g-range qùad and I get 20 minutes. These just are not a freestyle quads. Long-range is flying slow and steady. I can't wait to build a 10in LR qùad. Thanks for the video and HARRY FLYING.
This is ment to go over to a unknow location east of another unknown location cause it’s a consumer product and can be shipped easily and it’s cheap. Then be heavily modified with a 4kg payload. 😂
900kv is probably too high for this size, I'm using 650kv on my 10 inch and get great flight times. Also 3 bladed props aren't good need 2 bladed for long range. This configuration and motor kv indicates meant for delivering a payload.
I went the cheap route and a did a DIY build with parts all off Aliexpress............tuning was a pain, the default INAV pids were all way to high, it bounced, gittered all over the place. Tried EZ tune, nope. When started with P at 10, I, at 0, and D at 0.......and just started doing test flights till it was stable. Frame was tight, motors tight, new and balanced Genfam props, vtx tight, brand new camera secured and all motor wires secured.
We are using such a drones with 8000-13000mAh Li-Ion battaries. It really fly far and long. Not sure about 45min, but 25-30min is real. And as I see your instance have bad tuned pids. It can do better.
Motors need changing to lower kv (650/700 or so)and lower stator height,bi blade's and deffo a pid tune, you can make a silk purse out of a pigs ear..I know cause ive done it many times.👍
too much to say here Stu....first tighten EVERYTHING obviously, tune the shit outta it that's the main problem it doesn't like those props, change the props, give it a chance it might get better def not 45 min lol
Definitely too much. Something is probably wrong in the tune. Although my 10 inch isn't efficient too, it's not that power hungry. I get about 14 minute flight with a 6s 6000mah LiIon. 3215 motor. Personally my 8 inch Flys much better. I see no sense in 10 inch. With the same 1.2kg battery my 8 inch Flys longer.
Reminds me of a line from a song, Suck on my big 10 inch. LMAO. And its made by the company that makes my soldering iron. Def designed for a "short" flight. Especially at that price. Take that quad and put a good tune and good rates on it, and see how it does then
Why you did not enable amp draw in osd? :( maybe you need to fly 6S2P with two 3.3Ah ;) Edit: I use the OVONIC more for cruising and mid range, for that they are a good choice but for powerful freestyle I would use LiPo's with a higher C rating than 70C.
Do the new large props like those need balanced? Looks like they do... We always had to balance the large 8-15" props back in the old flamewheel days. But I have seen videos of the long range guys comparing a 7-inch with a 10-inch and a 10-in just doesn't get tossed around by up drafts in the mountains like a 7inch does... Sounds like that's a budget quad and budget quads always need lots of TLC to get them to fly good... But honestly that frames arms just look too long and skinny and probably needs some bracing motor to motor.
First, it need right PID tune for particular weight. Maybe it worth to reduce D gains. It may dramatically reduce useless motors overheating and overconsumption. Inspect the assembly. Slap on two of 6s2p li-ions in parallel, one ontop, one on bottom (with y-cable). PID-tune for weight. Go cruise mountains. Pee on putin.
You're never going to get 45 min of flight time with that motor and prop combo. I have an old iFlight DC10 running 900kv motors with bi-blade props and 4s2p LI-ion packs(5000-1000mah). It's not a speed demon but with that setup and cruising around I get long flight times. Also the tune on this looks horrid as if it was built for some other specific purpose.
I wont run less than 8mm thicc arms on my 7inchers, no wonder its flight was wobbly as hell with only 7mm thin arms on a 10incher... Might be worth stripping for parts as there seems to be no spare arms available if someone wanted to double them up with some E6000 between. Would be better off transferring the guts into a Five33 Spec7 with doubled-up 'Long-Arm' kit & ditch the race weights- should come in around the 1kg mark without Gopro! ;)
I’d run a 6000 mah + battery with that prop size, but even so the claimed flight time is a big over exaggeration. Might get closer to that figure using a much higher capacity Li ion battery? 🤔 Not something I’d want to own…motors getting hot is wasted battery energy
If the motors are so hot then there's something wrong. I doubt a better tune would take the flight time from 3 min to 45 but it's wasting a ton of energy fluttering the motors. Sounds like they tuned for a lot of weight and without that weight to dampen movement the tune is way too sensitive. Maybe the payload is a crapton of batteries to be able to get that 45min... Hell, milk this for some more content "Fixing the worst FPV drone on the market!"
A long range pilot would never by this, because it's not a DC frame. That would be a must have to film. We know all these cheap 10 inch stuff is released for high sales and to carry evil shit.
A few things make me laugh at this one. first and foremost.. 4 kilo lifting Ill leave this B.S. flag right here on the ground. Second heavy lift but its a "race" drone? yeah uhh no.. third race drone tops out at 80 mph.. These flags are stackin up mate. finally 45 minute flight times... OTAY PANKY. that tune you was flying sorry to say was straight up A$$. tune that up properly and the efficiency will drastically improve but you STIL aint gettin 45 minute flight times.10-12 MAYBE on that configuration.
The fact that they mention the maximum flight time of 45 minutes and a payload capacity of 4kg on what they call "Racing drone" clearly indicates that this was meant for something else.
Is that something else dropping "aid" for people in areas they shouldn't be in?
they are meant to take a "fourpack" of 16s, plus payload of ca 2kg including release mechanism or "deployment equipment" like a VOG.
This configuration and motors is for 1 way bombing trip 100%. lol
my thought exactly, blacked out motors that are matted.. cmon... we know what market the manufacturer is aiming this towards, dont we?
Agreed.... seems a major trend in the market😅😢
yup yup yup
AliExpress has tons of these for $150

@@vaphualfpv i suck at video editing and frankly i work on REAL aircraft and generally dont have time.. when i have time i am usually flying..

My brother in Christ, that thing is not meant for racing...
“rAcInG dRoNe” 🤪 racing to target
Carrying a payload as fast as possible...
Racing to get that unwanted delivery completed on time.
Like they don't make enough selling these in military contracts. Even the OSD shows crosshairs. Most pilots turn them off for freestyle.
Oh I like my crosshair...
i use the crosshair but i agree with your point
i use it for lining up gaps of POI, not tanks and bunkers

If you think that's big my biggest is 32" for real. 900mm diagonal makes a 10 look like a whoop 😂
There has to be a tuning issue. Something is not correct. You should call the manufacturer and check things. Does not add up.
It's kinda depressing that all the fpv brands are focused on making war machines now.
Like they haven't been for the last 20 years? Where have you been...🤔
@@k1ortia no they haven't... the current fpv drones are based on racedrones till the war in Ukraine repurposed them as war machines
