Yes me too, I started way back about '80 taking TKD(Korean Art of self-defense) for about 5 years til it started to get more expensive(I could buy books on the Art for $20 ea. . Later around '96, I started in Aikido, went several times, got some good techniques down(free),I did get to test but since I haven't paid....I didn't advance. I feel I got almost enough to put with my TKD then read several books on JKD(the 4 books on BL's fighting techniques). I got "Tao of Jeet Kune Do", "Entering,to trapping,to grappling" among others,even some Ninjitsu with Stephen K. Hayes and his Sifu Dr. Masaki Hatsumi. Some books on TKD to learn a few up coming forms(just for yucks).
Dang anything you recommend of me doing. I'm trying to learn it and I am reading books and practicing daily with training and meditation. Any tips, books, vids, etc. that you have?

I did Aikido for 2 years, and then switched to Wing Chun. There are so many wing chun techniques that can end with an Aikido technique. This has developped a style named "Chin na"...
Actually wing chun stems from White crane Plum blossom and snake style from a monk named Ng Mui and Chin, Na was a joint manipulation technique which was around as long as the shoalin temple or longer. Aikido is a very young art created by Morihei Ueshiba in the early 1900s. So much of Aikido will show up in other martial arts as it was developed from many other martial arts, he was also a soldier in the Japanese Army.
Draceb yes but did you know that that Aikido comes out of Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu which is a sword art art as well and is older than dirt. Its my theory that all Asian arts draw roots in KungFu.

This was great. Never occurred to me that those were aikido techniques. It was cool how your demonstrations looked almost exactly the same way Bruce did it. You realize that Bruce wanted to be authentic and stay true to the different styles he used. Nice.

Being a Bruce Lee fan since the '70s, I realized that he was eclectic and innovative, but since I know very little about O'Sensei's style, I didn't realize that Bruce Lee had incorporated this also into his system. Thank You for this. I share your passion for Bruce Lee, His techniques, and The Art(s) It/ThemSelves. I began training at Jhoon Goo Rhee's school of Tae Kwon Do in Washington, D.C. in 1972. I was referred by a Friend and immediately began realization that Aikido and other styles were somehow connected. There was an energy there. For me it was a desire for Self discipline and Self control that guided me. Having seen Bruce Lee in movies, certainly I was inspired. I still am. Later in California I studied under Master Byong Yu. That was in 1973. The rest is history. I'm beginning Aikido training soon. Thank You again.

Truly amazing, whenever I watch any clip of Bruce Lee, always reminds me of being back in England, watching a movie at the old ODEON Cinema in my home town of Chelmsford, Essex. during the 60's & 70's, the ODEON always showed Bruce Lee movies. Bruce was an inspiration then & even more now, a superb personality & individual. Nice VDO, thanks so much for your detailed explanation of Bruce's fighting style. Growing up in Hongkong & participating in movies with his father certainly helped his ability to grow into an incredible young man, Anglo - Chinese style, also having a good knowledge of Tai Chi, Chi Gong. The beauty and genius of Bruce Lee was that he studied every art that was available absorbing what was useful to him and discarding what was not. Just remember you must know an art before you can discard an art. It is a lifetime journey. Good video and info!

One more subscriber :) Not sure if Lee trained in Aïkido, but I know he trained in Hapkido under Ji Han-Jae (whom he was introduced to by Jhoon Goo Rhee). And all these techniques you mention here can be found in Hapkido too (which is not a surprise since Aïkido and Hapkido share the same Aïkijujutsu roots). So, in the end, yes : we're all working with the same tool, which is human body, so the techniques are shared between many disciplines ;)
Yes, you´re absolutely right! In terms of style, speed, lightness, coolness, ingenuity, fitness, strength and so on... he might have been the most extraordinary man ever lived on this planet! That´s why he is without any doubt- THE legend!
I remember when I sparred with Bruce. He took defeat very graciously and when I was teaching him my style I made sure I was extra patient with him. Because I could see his natural ability. As I later told Foreman when he asked for some help, Bruce was a good student because his Ego let him accept a true Master. R.I.P Bruce Lee,perhaps my best prodigy.
Anyway when I developed Akido it was more for a fleeting meeting on a battlefield where my opponant would rush at me. Once I had threw them aside we would rarely meet again. Obviously the one exeption to this is when I ran into Emporor Hirohito inWW2.....But that's another story..

I did decades of Kyouku-Shin karate, and different styles of Aikido, and watched his movies hundreds of times, never caught these imbedded hidden moves, or the quick removing blocks, but they are so fast that everything blends together, now that we have the technology to actually slow it down, we can reveal more..., thank you for this evaluation...
What's awesome is the technique @ 2:37, I've used in "street sparring" scenarios in the past and honestly, I didn't even KNOW it was an Aikido technique. I was in a clinch head to head and when I felt the opponent's arm reach for an underhook, it just seemed natural to turn the arm like that and hold.
Yes. Bruce Lee did several techniques relating to the concepts of Aikido in Enter the Dragon, his last movie. The various throws he did on Sammo Hung at the opening scene and the leg and armpit drops at the final showdown with Han’s guards. A pity he passed on soon or we would get to witness how he could use Aikido to his advantage.

He actually has no "Aikido Knowledge", it is just so that the same techniques are used in plenty of martial arts, with names coming form the particular language/culture.
BL learned foot work from a famous western style boxer. You can see it in his fight against Chuck Norris at the end of one of his movies. I think he still preferred Kung Fu punches.
Funny I came across this video. I'm 46 now and I did 3 different styles of MA when I was younger over a period of about 11 years. And I remember watching Bruce's movies when they actually came out haha..... anyway the styles I was doing I could see he was using different techniques from different styles. And I remember thinking that this guy is just a master. A man of pure genius and one very seriously dedicated mother. Great vid 👍🏼

Many people were jealous about Bruce, because he was spontaneous, and he was making money. i was a Bruce Lee fan since i was 3/4 years old in 1979/80, my dad used to watch Bruce Lee Films. I started to watch it too years after... Then all of a sudden, i started digging in his history, searching... Boy, did i get allot of stuff, about Bruce Lee. I know stuff about him, that the mass doesn't know about him, like on enter the dragon, on stage, there was a young guy who challenged Bruce Lee, to a real fight, Bruce Accepted, and Bruce beat the shit out of him, and after the fight, Bruce gave the Boy lessons on how to fight, but the boy were real fast in whatever he was doing. second, Bruce was a Street fighter. he had 26 different styles, and combined it into JEET KUNE DO. Bruce Lee is the Father of Mixed Martial Arts!! ENUF SAID!!

People who say Bruce Lee didn't practice aikido don't know enough about him. He actually included drawn out illustrations of aikido techniques in his book "tao of jeet kune do". Page 140 to be exact
Well I just try to inform people of the truth about bruce lee since the JKD community is full of a bunch of loons who don't know what they're doing. (I actually practice JKD but in the way it was meant to be) Therefore nobody seeks the truth since they think he developed a non effective system

One only has to take a look at his book, "The Tao of Jeet Kune Do," to know that he did apply aikido techniques in his style as it was mentioned in that book.

Bruce Lee is a Legend. No one can be Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee combined all martial arts and make it his own, one great martial art.

I did decades of Kyouku-Shin karate, and different styles of Aikido, and watched his movies hundreds of times, never caught these imbedded hidden moves, or the quick removing blocks, but they are so fast that everything blends together, now that we have the technology to actually slow it down, we can reveal more..., thank you for this evaluation...

What's awesome is the technique @ 2:37, I've used in "street sparring" scenarios in the past and honestly, I didn't even KNOW it was an Aikido technique. I was in a clinch head to head and when I felt the opponent's arm reach for an underhook, it just seemed natural to turn the arm like that and hold.

Yes. Bruce Lee did several techniques relating to the concepts of Aikido in Enter the Dragon, his last movie. The various throws he did on Sammo Hung at the opening scene and the leg and armpit drops at the final showdown with Han’s guards. A pity he passed on soon or we would get to witness how he could use Aikido to his advantage.

+ShowdownPlease Why are there no vids showing Chan`s martial arts knowledge being backed up by pro`s or semi pro`s? Plus Lee knew nothing about boxing his Akido knowledge was far more impressive!
He actually has no "Aikido Knowledge", it is just so that the same techniques are used in plenty of martial arts, with names coming form the particular language/culture.
BL learned foot work from a famous western style boxer. You can see it in his fight against Chuck Norris at the end of one of his movies. I think he still preferred Kung Fu punches.

Funny I came across this video. I'm 46 now and I did 3 different styles of MA when I was younger over a period of about 11 years. And I remember watching Bruce's movies when they actually came out haha..... anyway the styles I was doing I could see he was using different techniques from different styles. And I remember thinking that this guy is just a master. A man of pure genius and one very seriously dedicated mother. Great vid 👍🏼

i was a Bruce Lee fan since i was 3/4 years old in 1979/80, my dad used to watch Bruce Lee Films.
I started to watch it too years after...
Then all of a sudden, i started digging in his history, searching...
Boy, did i get allot of stuff, about Bruce Lee.
I know stuff about him, that the mass doesn't know about him, like on enter the dragon, on stage, there was a young guy who challenged Bruce Lee, to a real fight, Bruce Accepted, and Bruce beat the shit out of him, and after the fight, Bruce gave the Boy lessons on how to fight, but the boy were real fast in whatever he was doing.
second, Bruce was a Street fighter.
he had 26 different styles, and combined it into JEET KUNE DO.
Bruce Lee is the Father of Mixed Martial Arts!!

People who say Bruce Lee didn't practice aikido don't know enough about him. He actually included drawn out illustrations of aikido techniques in his book "tao of jeet kune do". Page 140 to be exact

Well I just try to inform people of the truth about bruce lee since the JKD community is full of a bunch of loons who don't know what they're doing. (I actually practice JKD but in the way it was meant to be) Therefore nobody seeks the truth since they think he developed a non effective system

In the intro to the video you mentioned that some people might not believe that he also studied Aikido. One only has to take a look at his book, "The Tao of Jeet Kune Do," to know that he did apply aikido techniques in his style as it was mentioned in that book.
