I can't imagine how horrible and traumatizing this all is for the surviving son :( I hope he's given the support he needs, and that the souls of the victims find eternal rest. Thank you for sharing this case in such an interesting, informative yet respectful manner.

This is why NO MATTER how close you are to anyone, be it your neighbor or a servant/maid working for you for past 20 years or even your own damn family member, ALWAYS maintain a cautious distance and stay alert for the sake of your children. Sharing the door password with a trusted close neighbor might sound harmless but look how it turned out.
My mother would never let my brother sleep with any uncle etc no matter how close they were as a family(Because majority of abuse cases comes from relatives and acquaintances only)
And even though she did trust our maid a lot who worked for us for like 15 years, she would still not completely eliminate the possibility of her doing something culpable because you never know what circumstances a person comes from and circumstances keep changing for everyone, which eventually changes that person too.
*As a child I used to think that my mother is shallow for doubting our own relatives and trusted loyal employees and dismissed it as her being paranoid and overprotective. But now as an Adult I'm really thankful to her for how much alert she would always be for us even if it caused her anxiety.*
Having children is huge responsibility especially in present context, protecting them is the first priority, I'd do the same for my kids in future.

My brothers have kids now and only trust immediate family but they are more cautious towards distant family members. If you can’t even trust your immediate family then who can you trust? My nephews were under the care of me who is their immediate aunt, my brother who is their immediate uncle and at one point grandparents. Distant family I can understand if you are more cautious but not immediate family. My brothers are very protective of their kids too.

Totally agree! It's not about failing to trust others (including close or distant family neighbours, friends, etc...) but about being CAUTIOUS indeed! And where

I too thought my mother is being paranoid and overreacting when she was obsessed with safety. She always say trust your children with no one but yourself. But now as adult there are so many cases I heard in my own family that I thank God she was overprotective.

Haven't heard of this case but it's so sad!!! The murderer seems to be so vile and greedy human being, who decided to go to the worst route instead of trying to solve her problems in other ways. I feel bad for the son, it totally seemed that the auntie tried to frame him which is just disgusting to think about, an adult woman trying to blame the middle school aged child. So so sad.

A recent case in South Korea. The perpetrator was not named publicly. Her crying on the recent update showed that Mrs. A might be the main culprit all along despite cleaning the evidence on the cell phone that was used as a potential blunt weapon.
    Thanks for covering it Megan.

The police also likely knew that, had it all really been the desperate mother’s actions, she would’ve kill3d _both_ of her children - that’s why this type of crime is called “familicide”: the _whole_ family is kill3d (by one of its members) - and that’s one the reasons why they dismissed the theory so quickly.

Interesting story/case. Why would a person on life sentence be told to wear an ankle monitor for 30 years? Why do we spare the life of someone with so little respect for others lives? Shame.

Right feels so bizarre. Such a waste of resources. Oriole need to start believing individuals' actions *_along_* *_with_* their words. Is it so hard to acknowledge that this person is an unwell, unkind murderer*?!* Many of these murderers who are protected in S. Korea are straight up insidiously evil. Why should we spare them?

While I understand the purpose, I find it very unfortunate that after you are found guilty by a jury the court expects you to admit to the crime. This works for the majority of people who generally are guilty but for those who did not commit the crime it leaves them to either refuse to admit guilt (also called “showing remorse”) and maintain their innocence at the risk of a death penalty conviction or to simply pretend to be remorseful and play on the emotions of the court to get a more lenient sentence. If you admit guilt you can never be exonerated later (even with DNA evidence) but if you don’t admit to something you didn’t do, you could be killed for it.
In this case I think she was guilty but in case you ever wondered why people admit to crimes they didn’t commit; that’s often reason number 1.
