Hey Eddie, I'm planning to walk the C2C next year; have been watching your videos relating to those routes. I enjoy them very much. I know this is a subjective question: how much of an effort would it have been to walk to Honister, rather doing the loop? I want to walk up Red Pike on the way to Rosthwaite from Ennerdale Bridge; I'm thinking walk up Great Borne at the beginning. What do you think? Keep on truckin' :-)

Hi Bradford. I have had a look at the route from Red Pike to Honister and mapped it out this morning. It is just over 5 miles from Red Pike and would involve going over High Stile & High Crag. You would then need to drop down Gamlin End from High Crag, which is very steep and head up to Haystacks. From Haystack you would continue to Fleetwith Pike, then on to Honister. It looks pretty tough, but it is achievable. Another alternative is to head down to Buttermere from Red Pike and get the bus to Honister, definitely easier, ha! Thanks for watching the videos and taking the time to comment, it is appreciated. Take care & I would be interested to see hiow you get on. Cheers. Eddie

@@eddiecaisley5746 Thanks for the reply. I have mapped out the route as well. Distance wise it does not see too difficult, but how strenuous is the walk itself. Walking along the 'Water' is not the same as walking the hills. I am wondering if starting at 'The Fox & Hounds' and ending at the Scafell Hotel, via Great Borne, is taking on too much. Is this something you would try? No bus ride for me :-(.

@@bdwood2000 That seems quite a walk from Ennerdale Bridge, but once you have done Great Borne etc, it could be ok. I would consider it as achievable. Cheers. Eddie.

@@eddiecaisley5746 A partner and I left Fox&Hounds @3AM, climbing the back way up Herdus for sunrise, then continued on to Red Pike. The view from Herdus towards Red Pike is spectacular. My partner dropped out at Red Pike, I continued to High Stile, High Crag, and Hay Stacks. From there down to Honister for a late lunch then into Rosthwaite. It took just over 11 hours, at 15.5 miles. It was a long hard trek. Your video was my inspiration, that view from Herdus was my inspiration. Thank you. BTW, doing the C2C, I walked up High Street, then down Riggindale Crag one to Shap via Old Corpse Road. Another long day, again inspired by your video. Thank you.

@@bdwood2000 Hi, that sounds a fantastic walk along the Ennerdale/Buttermere Ridge. A long day, but it sounds really good. I may consider doing that route one day. Your C2C route up to High Street sounds good too. Thanks you again for the comments and letting me know about your walks. Take Care. Cheers. Eddie.
