    This is so interesting, I've been big into the Topps Giants from 1964 recently. A former co-worker and friend had a shoebox with about 20 of them in pretty good condition, including Koufax, Mays, Mantle, Aaron, and Clemente, and I was able to buy the lot from him. I'm unsure if I'll get them graded (right now it's not a great value proposition), but even raw, some of them fetch pretty decent prices.

    Was looking online to buy some cards and dropped everything to check out the latest video! Interesting to look at these deals in today's grading climate. Not only would it have cost you 10x to card each of those cards but you would have probably had to wait at least 10 months to get them back if not longer. So your break even would have likely been around month 15-17 months best case scenario (granted the value of the cards has also increased) but regardless you would have sit 15k for over a year. Which means as a full time gig your probably going to be waiting a lot or taking your chances selling ungraded cards that aren't 9/10 worthy. I actually think you would have come out much better in today's climate if you could sit on the 15k for a year. I bet you have deals like this your waiting to find out on though?

    • @collectorinvestordealer
      @collectorinvestordealer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Excellent point. Totally different environment today. We could not have done this deal in this manner today... I dont think we would have been willing to sit on that much money for a year given that we didnt know what the grades would be (imagine if we spent $15k on grading and waited a year only to have everything come back an 8 with a few 9s)

    The 1975 George Brett and Robin Yount are all I could look at🤪 You should sit in a rocking chair with a pipe and a big book during story time...maybe some feet in P.J.s😂😂😂

    Why was the expensive newspaper ad necessary? Didn't you receive offers of collections during the normal course of doing business? I'm surprised your friend with the money agreed to overpay on any of the stuff. The idea isn't to do a lot of work selling low-end lots to scrape a slim profit. Thank God for those Giants!

    Love the videos you post. I’m in my 50’s and collected cards years ago but gave up on it. But now seeing how much cards are bringing I’ve started trying to but graded cards up front to flip. Any pointers would be appreciated. I’m buying football and basketball mostly.
