I was 14 Years Old barely getting into High School when this came out in 2001 and the Graphics as well as the Gameplay were ahead of its time. All of the Memories these Old Games brought me. I miss the early to mid 2000s.
I agree with you. Since Wildlands i´ve been saying that it would be better if we got sandbox maps instead of open world. A lot of people attacked me for that lol but I think about the first GR and the coop campaigns on GRAW and man, a good sized map with main, side and optional objectives is a lot better than the open world with gta gameplay we currently have. Not that Wildlands and Breakpoint are bad games but I do think GR works and feels better on big maps instead of open world. Enjoyed the gameplay Ghost Lead, I think mixing it up with other GR games is awesome. Would love to see a little bit of GRFS again 😎
Yep. The current fans think the replay value will plummet, but people still play GR01. A map editor makes the game infinitely replayable. Plus, the devs could add an open-world game mode. The main campaign should be in open levels, though. Sniper Elite 5 might have the right sizes. The AI, the mission design, level design, performance, graphics, story - everything can be better if it’s in open levels instead of an open world.
Finally, someone is playing the best Ghost Recon game! There is a third-person mod, more than one. You can scale the HUD to make it bigger, along with changing your binds, turning off the kill feed, turning off the proximity indicator, and toggling your HUD elements off/on. You can also make the sound (improved) as it was back then, but it’s not the simplest process, as it requires downloading stuff and changing your registry. GR01 does not allow you to run & gun. Get punished!
I've been replaying the Xbox version of this game on my Xbox 360. Definitely a little rough around the edges but totally still playable! Similar to Halo on the og xbox. I actually enjoy the visuals, while dated, there is somthing timeless about the graphics. I grew up playing doom so i have no issue with old graphics. Gameplay is king. So neat to see so much of the series identity intact here in this game. Level design, gameplay/combat systems, atmosphere. Even this map "caves" is in Graw 2 multilayer, it's one of the dlc maps. Even the AI escort is identical to wildlands or breakpoint. Also very interesting story in this one, kinda sureal playing it now with the war going on. Creepy how many events in the game are so similar to what's going on over there. Almost like Tom Clancy knew things would pop off over there one day.
Right? I think it's how you can see the attention to detail and amount of effort that was put into alot of the models that help make it look good even if it's dated. Like the character models look really good for 2001, and the fact that they did a lot of research not only for the American uniforms and equipment but also the Russian and NATO ones too. These graphics don't bother me at all, same with Halo CE another fps from 2001 lol

The games plot and story are also quite sureal given the state of the world and Russia's real world actions as of late. It is a game that certainly does have a heart and soul. Ghost Recon is my go to game for tactical combat that is still accessible but no simple walk in the park ether. It's a perfect balance.
Just can't beat the original- Ubisoft needs to make it's development team play this for the next game! If you're looking for better kit options, I recommend the Heroes Unleashed and Violence of Action mods. Gives you WAY more options! Fantastic video Bro 🍁 👍
Check the third person/first person mod out GIT. Its simple to set up. I posted it on the discord. Wait till you see the amount of mods this game has. If its your thing, you could spend hundred of hours on this game. P.S I actually think the game looks great for its age.
I don't recall killing anyone when I played this game, my AI teammates did all the dirty work, if they were told not to shoot anyone. But this was on the OG xbox 20 years ago, my memory is a little hazy on this.
Tip for Ai controlled sniper: if you unequip a pistol, he'll just hold his sniper rifle the whole time. For some reason in the game he would switch to pistol when moving and usually get killed.
Pistols are far better when moving. Watch how little sway (crosshair size) you get with the pistol compared to the snipers. With the snipers, it’s basically simulating you setting up the gun and dialing-in your scope.
It’s not just the gameplay and the atmosphere that the older Ghost Recons did so well in, it was the tools and the worldbuilding. The CROSS-COM, was kickass and the conflicts were realistically believable. And to an extent Wildlands did it well, too.
It seems a very strange idea to relax in a GR1 :) Then I looked at your video and saw two deaths at the beginning of the level, and that explained everything. I looked at the contents of the channel and it turns out to be mostly a Checkpoint and Wildlands. I would like to advise you to play GR1 more on the expert. But he changed his mind. After that, you won't be able to want to do your main content anymore.
GRAW 1 and the 2 was my start! 2 is still fun to play against the AI Solo. Not the campaign, but the Online stuff (forget name of mode). Firefight maybe?
15:16 There is a Mod that enable a First and Third Person view point for the game that works rather well back when I used it but I haven't been able to get it working in recent months.
GRAW 1 and 2 on the PC was the closest we got to a modernized version of the original. Though they do come off as unfairly punishing with twitchy bullshit enemy A.Is and friendly A.Is are very spotty hit-or-miss at times. And the look of the level designs just didn't feel as breathtaking and polished as the Xbox 360 version. With that said, Ghost Recon needs to go back to the original in terms of punishing realism and team command. Use the GRAW for high tech future weapon systems and gadgets and Future Soldiers for slick and fluid control, animation.
Funny you mention the third person mod considering the fact that there actually is one. But it's kind of crappy. There are however sound effect and cosmetic mods that are pretty amazing
Being someone who's been playing GR games since the first, I do think open CAN work, Wildlands was a good step in the right direction, but a few back. sure its very different than the classic army Ghosts as now we are more a black ops ghost team but being open world is more immersive and gives better replayability imo. I really do hope Ubi try add more ranged engagements like the originals and less of this stealth crouch walking Sam Fisher style game play. More options for our squad is a must for the next game, more orders and controls 👍
Hey man, can you do a point Vs point reason why you prefer either Wildlands or Breakpoint, one over the other. Im having a hard time finding a solid reasons to choose one over the other from a gameplay point of view as personally I dont care about gfx. Would also be cool to see you play the OG advanced Warfighter series pc versions.
Breakpoint has better gameplay mechanics and graphics. Wildlands has basically everything else. I value gameplay more than anything, but I still give GRB a 6/10 and GRW a 7.

I have a physical copy of GRAW on PC and Xbox, my PC build has no tray for disks so idk if i will ever get to play it again, also i been looking around for ages online for a digital copy of GRAW2 but it seems near impossible
