    This do-it-yourself video demonstrates how to repair a broken power seat cover on the drivers seat of a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL. The inside ends of the plastic gussets had snapped off where the screws secured it to the seat frame. Someone else suggested using short wooden dowels, tapering them and drilling a center-hole, but I found some parts at the hardware store which reduced the labor.
    Hillman Flange Bearings Bronze 3/8 x 1/2 x 5x8 x 1
    Lowes has them (I think these are similar) www.lowes.com/...
    I'm sure this fix could be applied to other car models as well. Hope this is helpful.

    Thank you so much for making this video! Our Honda dealership wanted $260 to repair our seat. I watched your video, bought the parts and fixed it in 5 minutes! Yea!!!! Our Pilot is a 2004 and in great shape. Will drive it until the wheels come off :-)

    Thanks for the instructions. They worked very well for my 2003 Honda Pilot. The hardware I used was: Hillman Flange Bearing Bronze 3/8 x 1/2 x 5/8 x 1 (Drawer location E9), Weathermax Stainless Steel Pan Phillips Sheet Metal screws 10 x 2, and 1/4 flat washers. All purchased at Lowes.

      Just did this fix, had to do both sides, plus the trim piece under the main piece on the driver's side. Found everything at Lowe's, right down to Drawer E9! Thanks Michael Haddock!

    Thank you for this video. I was able to sell my car for $800 more than what was offered to me from CarMax because I fixed this part of my Pilot. The purchaser denied my car because they deemed it unsafe. Once I fixed this I called them back out and they made me offer higher than all others! Thank you so much for doing this!!

    Absolutely useful and great DIY repair video! I was ready to drill holes and use tie wraps until I stumbled on this video. For everyone's interest, the Model # of the flange is #882992 and available at Lowes. I checked Home Depot and they don't even have anything close to it. The screws are #10 x 2". Thanks JFly!

    This is a great fix! I used a slightly different spacer (3/8" diameter) and worked like a charm on my 2003 Odyssey. Thanks so much for posting this video. They want $68 for the piece of plastic on Amazon ($110 at the Honda dealer) and this cost me $9.48 for hardware at Home Depot!

    Excellent & helpful... I've replaced and cobbled our 03 pilot seat a few times, but without your suggested brass flange, the plastic posts keeps breaking. (This a frustrating design flaw that Honda has chosen NOT to fix on the $80 replacement piece). THANKS JFly!

    Why didn't you just throw on some JB Weld epoxy on it(and rough up the surface to make the adhesive hold better)?

      StarryB That’s an idea! Not sure how long it would last over time but it’s worth trying!

    My Odyssey seat recline function stopped working about six weeks ago. No surprise there….my Odyssey does have a 181,000 miles on it.
    As I rarely adjust the seat recline angle, except on long rides, it was no big deal. I did look at some TH-cam videos over the last month and found some possibilities but told myself I would look at it closer one day…… today was the day.
    I went out in the garage about 30 minutes ago to check the inside fuse box just to the left of the brake pedal. My Odyssey manual showed only ONE 20 A fuse associated with the driver power seat. However, when I removed the fuse cover and looked at the schematic inside the fuse cover which shows the actual location of the fuses, it showed TWO driver seat fuse locations, ONE for the driver seat slide (up and back) and ONE for the driver seat recline (tilt).
    When I looked at the fuse position where the driver seat recline was located, there was NO FUSE!
    What, no fuse? The seat recline function had worked for 14 years….but wasn’t there. I looked further down into the recess but visibility was limited. I didn’t have a spare 20 A fuse so I pulled the 20 A fuse from the moon roof and inserted it into the driver seat recline…..and it worked!
    I like easy fixes……but where did the original fuse go? My thought was that with the plastic cover in place, the fuse would be kept in place by the cover and not allow them to work their way out…..but I guess that is what happened.
    Anyway, from one Odyssey owner to another, keep an eye on your fuses…

    Great to have this! Unfortunately, my front gusset broke off entirely from the side panel. I guess a longer screw and larger washer on the outside of the hole might be a fix?

    • @JFlyCreative
      @JFlyCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that could work. Or you might need to try to reattach it first with epoxy or something to maintain the proper spacing as well?

    • @JFlyCreative
      @JFlyCreative  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What screws did you use, I thought they were proprietary Honda. Thanks!

    • @JFlyCreative
      @JFlyCreative  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I mentioned, they are just #10 screws at 2" long. You can take the old screws with you for thread comparison at any hardware store. They shouldn’t be proprietary...
