Hiya! I hope you enjoyed your holidays! I'm a first year student doing Orthoptics (similar to optometry!) and I'm considering graduate entry medicine - would I be able to skip the F1 and F2 years if I choose to specialise in an area I already have experience in ( So Ophthalmology!) I'm not really sure if the junior doctor training years are compulsory or not, I'm wondering if you've heard of instances like mine? Lots of love!
Hey, thanks for your question! I hope you also had a lovely holiday season. Without completing foundation years you cannot obtain a full license to practice and they are compulsory - there’s no other way to progress after medical school, even if you have worked in a specific specialty before. Hope this helps!
