    For years and I mean for 17 years of lifting at the gym I seen the iron grip urethane plates get abused by deadlifting and other exercises, nothing can destroy those plates. I have the same iron grip plates for home use. I can imagine by these being made by rogue they have to be the same if not better durability. Plus these just look soo much sexier.

    • @azuwhr

      You are so right. That’s the reason I went with them, they should hold up over the years. Yes they are sexy that’s for sure. Thanks for watching.

    Great looking plates, an update to iron grip's style. They missed the boat on the smaller plates tho. 10s should have grips, at least, and the 5s and 2.5s should also be 12-sided, just my opinion. If these were all black with recessed or raised lettering (like IG), I'd jump on them.

    This video opened my eyes to the advantages of these 12 sided urethane plates that I hadn't considered previously. Question: Did you consider or compare Hammer Strength's 12 sided urethane plates before purchasing from Rogue, and if so, what drove you to Rogue? The HS plates are more expensive but they are sourced and made in the USA, unlike the Rogue 12 sided urethane plates. That may not have factored into your decision but I do like to buy Made in the USA when possible, even if that means paying a little more. Thanks.

      I have not tried the HS plates. I went with Rogue just because I like the company’s product. I still own and use these everyday.

    I was thinking about these plates,, but I have no plan of doing bench presses. Thats fine I see that it allows a bunch to bulk up. I want to be able to control the weights with just my hand, I got a series of workouts to do with them. I dont unnderstandd is it a breath that people take when lifting weight plates, I know people do breathing when lifting on a press. I have a balancing thing with the bar. I have exercises for he bar as well, will be inquiring how to get them weighted heavier, as I want to control the weights with my hand and body. Mean that I want to grab the weight with the hand and control the weight through the body, Im hoping to built the body to be one machine. The weight and strenght needed to support the weight being all the way to the thighs alternating so that the body is not fatiguing

    Very quality plates. This is the set to go with. But then also get a set of round ones for deadlifting. The plates that have grips on the outer most edges are more versatile and can be used for lifts such as irongrip rows and various landmine grip deadlifts, so worth grabbing a few of those style plates to use in concert with these. Joel steedman from advanced human performance has videos of the types of lifts I'm mentioning. With these plates you cant do those

    which plates are good for home gym for 20 to 25 years with less maintainenance
    Is that Cast Iron plates (Standard)
    or Calibrated Cast Iron plates
    or Black Bumper Plates
    or Color Bumper plates

    Nice review, I was actually commenting on your IG about these, I was the one that told you I’d hate to do dead lifts and bent rows on these haha only because i do use strict form.. again, I have echo bumpers for those movements.. for my squats and bench and all other movements I have my steel rogue 6 shooters, after seeing this vid, i might switch to the 12 sided, they’re just really pleasing to the eye! I will say, it will hurt for the amount of weight i need lol also i just sold my rep fitness plate tree and went with the rogue tree and added the double weight horn (saw it on brandon campbell’s page) I’ve seen so many rogue trees and theyre all scratched the hell up due to the powder coat.. yours seems to have held up, any recommendations to prevent the scratching? Im thinking of using black gorilla tape on the top part of the weight horn, just not sure if that will be enough .. would live to hear your thoughts

    • @azuwhr
      @azuwhr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest I just got my play tree in its new. But with that said I believe it’s gonna hold up pretty well with these 12 sided plates because of the metal ring that’s in the middle having that lip to it. I did find the six shooters seem to kind of want to scratch it but the 12 sided didn’t. Glad that you watched thanks for the comment

      What made you want to sell your Rep weight tree? It’s chrome arms are going to stand up to wear a lot more than the Rogue powder coated arms.

      @@kozmo7 the rep tree was a bitch to move around in the garage. Id have to unload all the weight just to move from one location tk the other. Also the rep tree did not hold much weight. The rogue tree is built like a tank, and hold wayyyyyyyy more weight. The rep tree plate horns are cheaply made... it’s one solid horn from one side to the other that is held in place with a bolt that you tighten against the middle of the plate horn.. the horn wasnt pre drilled or anything, you literally tighten a bolt against it, creating a bend in it... makes more sense if you have it. Rogue tree all the way.

      Gotcha. So you were using bumper plates or steel? Also, did you experience the arms bending on you and not being able to hold onto the weight?

      @Mr.Randalll 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kozmo7 both.. i had rogue echo bumpers, you can only fit 3 45s on there, i can fit 5 on the rogue.. i didnt experience any bending but when you tighten that bolt, you essentially weaken the plate horn.. its a stupid design to save money on shipping ... i emailed rep about it.. just doesnt fit my needs... i have 6 shooters and echo bumpers and i just was not happy.. i can send you a vid of my current plate tree so you can see

    12 sided plates are terrible for anything that requires you to place a barbell on the floor and pick it back up again.
    Since it’s not round, obviously, it will not always land on a flat side and when it lands on a point, it will want to roll forward or backward depending.
    I’m glad you enjoy these but for others that plan on doing pendlay rows, deadlifts from the floor, barbell rows etc, they will only get your ass injured.

    • @azuwhr
      @azuwhr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I would agree that for certain exercises these are not the plates to get. But for all other exercises these plates are fantastic I wouldn’t trade them. Thanks for the comment and for watching

      Well I am happy you found something you like. I am still being nit picky with my plates over here haha. I’ve just had so many bad experiences with 12 sided plates, usually training in a 24 hour fitness and I have developed a special hatred toward them.

    Are you able to deadlift without hitting one of the 12 edges if you deadlift slow and controlled? I am deciding on either purchasing these or the 6 shooters but they are not available right now.

    • @azuwhr
      @azuwhr  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that’s a tricky question. Yes technically you can but it’s not always going to be set up straight like with a round plate. You might have to adjust it afterwards. They’re not the best plates to dead lift with, but I don’t dead lift. I would go with the six shooters if that’s what your concern is
