So getting through an entire 4c wash day is hard enough, but when you add high shrinkage to the mix, life is hard. Natural hair isn't without its challenges, but this dry damaged natural hair really does up the ante. having kinky hair too is pretty intense most of the time lol So, hopefully my shrinkage test will be helpful to you somehow. :)

I share your pain. I was natural for 5 yrs, combo 4c / 4b hair, became a product junkie, and tried every product that claimed to elongate curls / stop shrinkage. ALL FAILED to live up to expectations, soooo disappointing!!! 😢 So I got fed up and relaxed my hair. A few months later I regretted my decision 😣 so now I'm transitioning back to natural. 🤗I had this vision in my head of what my hair should be or look like.😎 I came to realize that just like everything in life you can't always get what you want plus, my vision wasn't realistic.🙄 I like your humorous approach. Its good not to take things too seriously especially when it comes to 4c hair! 😀
The only thing that seems to help is keeping hair stretched by banding. 🤓That's stretching the hair by wrapping it with a narrow cloth from roots to ends, & there's I think its called threading when you wrap the full length with thread and keep it on overnight. 😴 Other than that ALL THOSE PRODUCTS AIN'T WORTH @$%!!!😣 😟😤😦😔

Hey girlie the curl enhancing smoothie has glycerin in it. That could be the source of your troubles. Glycerin in products while making your hair soft and moisterized results in shrinkage. Shrinkage indicates healthy hair but for high porosity people it can ruin your stretched styles. I quit stretched styles for the exact reason.

In summer months, I found that glycerin was the ONLY thing that made my hair feel moisturised. I haven't tried it now that its winter, but I sure will jump right back on that when warm weather hits!
I can't find products without Glycerin and I can't use coconut oil

Hey sweetie. Have you thought of focusing more on maximum growth than shrinkage? For instance, if you embrace shrinkage for a while and spray/rinse your hair with water DAILY, you will see Maximum growth of your hair. The average person should attain at least 6 inches of hair growth per year. After my big chop last year, I only wet my hair once per week (while washing) and I achieved a paltry (lol) 4 inches of new growth at the end of the year. Disappointed with these results, I now wet my hair with water/olive oil or just water rinse under the bath spigot DAILY. In about 2.5 months I already have about 2 and a quarter inches of new growth! I keep my hair in mini braids and, yes, I do get shrinkage, which does annoy me, but because I see so much growth, I'm more excited for that. In other words...I just want you to be happy. lol :)
BatiYah B hiya! Just got a couple questions about this. Would you mind helping a natural sister out?
1) do you seal in the water once you’ve added it to your hair? Like with an oil/cream? If not how do you prevent it from just drying out in a couple hours? Do you spray multiple times?
2) you said you keep your hair in mini braids, so do you still spray everyday when it’s not in that style? Like when it’s in its natural loosened state? If so how does that work? Because the water (at least in my experience) just caused it to shrink and tangle.

How does your hair do when it’s fully dry. And before you put curl formers on try letting your hair 70% after the products then put a good gel on not too much, brush it then put the curl formers on 🧐 to give it a good stretch 🙃

I copied and pasted this- it's my last time posting it, promise :D. You might need to detox your hair. When your hair has too much product build up on it, it coats your strands. ESPECIALLY when you use products that have synthetic plastics in them. When your strands are coated; Moisture cant get into your hair. Your hair will NOT listen to you and the products you use won't take. Your hair is gonna misbehave and it'll be hell- trust me, i just detoxed myself. (My bangs would not curl to save *MY LUYFF*) When i detox i use the cheap but SUPER effective route: Aztec Bentonite Indian Clay. It sounds all exotic but you can find it at GNC or Walmart (at least where i live in Cleveland OH). It costs under 10 dollars and is said to be the BEST face mask ever because it literally sucks all the impurities out of your face or hair and it's healthy and full of minerals! Just mix it with Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar (you can also get this at GNC or Walmart) for a suuper healthy and effective detox. Or you can mix it with water (mleh).. I recommend ACV though. Just detox like, 7 days in a row, 30 mins a day. Moisturize with something light like coconut oil in between days because who has time or money to use an actual moisturizer and rinse it out everyday?! You could also go with the more expensive route which is cool and smells like chocolate (lol): Terressentials Pure Earth Hair Mud (wash). It's this hair wash/hair mud/detox that you put on your hair and let sit. It's full of essential oils, completely natural and IT WORKS. (About the same as Aztec Bentonite though, i'm not sure which one is better) You have to buy it at the Terressintials website (just google it), and it cost around 26$ shipping included- You have to wait for it to arrive at your house. I love this stuff, I just can't always afford it, but i recommend 100%. You put this on your hair for 30 mins every day for 7 days as well. Detoxing pretty much goes like, you keep going until you see a difference and your hair is light as a feather, not weighed down and pliable. You could also look up a detox review or DIY here on youtube for detoxing as well, I just let you know some ways you could do it. I had to pass on the knowledge! Good luck and be my friend if you read this haha.. haa.... I'm so lonely (￣▽￣)..

@@Chin715 It's not a lathery soap or stripping cleanse. It's clay/mud. You just put it all in your hair and let it sit. And 7 days is what the Terressentials bottle says. Both of these methods are natural/healthy and won't harm your hair. Like i said in the comment, Detoxing works like this: You keep doing it until you feel your hair become light as a feather and not weighed down. Stop whenever you feel like :D Sometimes i stop after 4 days. Mostly because i get tired of detoxing after a short while lol.
Use a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup like Suave, its affordable. See how your hair reacts after one use and leave 2nd shampoo on hair for 30 min using a plastic cap or bag.

Hi! I love your videos! You may consider using a twisting cream or a styling mousse because your hair isn’t holding a curl after the curl formers. Also, try twist-outs using smaller twists. I know you’re going for stretch so stick with me. I’ve gotten better stretch for more days by twist-training my hair. I keep my hair in twists for days (weeks) and take them out for a few days (I don’t separate past the 2 strands. My hair does shrink, but not at the same rate as it does if I take them out the next day and I live in Florida.
You should do a comparison between the gel and make your own flawseed gel to see the difference.

new to your channel but I noticed you always use the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie. as a 4c girl also, i only use that product when i want my twist outs to be fatter. for some reason that product pulls the moisture from the air directly into my hair. If i don't want my hair to shrink, plump or frizz, i don't use that product.

Hey Danielle!! Your hair videos are too funny!! My hair shrinks a lot and FAST as well. I used to use curlformers to stretch my hair (then I got lazy... 😏). But something that kept my hair from reverting too much was to use more curlformers. I used to use almost two packs (mixed it with some knock offs from eBay so as to not offend my wallet). It worked for me because the whenever I styled my hair I didn't have to do as much separation if any at all. I noticed the more I comb out/separate my set the frizzier and more prone to shrinking it would be. But with more curlformers I could better preserve those sections when I twisted them or however else I styled my hair. And yeah I've used Gorilla Snot in my curlformer set before 😩 lol. It works but it can feel kinda weird.

okay so here's the thing I've just gotten back to wear my natural hair, and I use that stuff with another product, and I got this off. Lakey glazed donut looking texture in my hair and had to wash it out and start all over again, I don't know if anybody can tell me what I did wrong in the process, but basically all I did was you some type of oil, and then put the no shrink curl stuff on it, and it just went crazy!! Thanks friends!
