I highly recommend pressing + and reading the note when you get a new echo, sometimes they explain unique properties of the object that can give clues. like how dark nuts are immune to all blunt attacks. so pitting them against enemies with clubs is helpful.

I was giggling like a madman as Vinny was voicing The King, up until the purple drink appeared. I don't know if I've ever done such an immediate emotional 180. Vinny's voices add such a fun extra layer to the characters.

I love the position TLoZ is right now as a series, sometimes we get giant-complex games like Tears of the Kingdom but we can also get a "back to basics" kind of game like this one
But that’s really how it’s always been. With Phantom Hourglass releasing after the Twilight Princess and A link between worlds after skyward sword. It’s just that Nintendo now has a portable system and a home console in one, but the trend is still there.

It's like they took the puzzle solving aspects of BOTW/TOTK and turned it into its own open-world game, then gave it the style of the Link's Awakening remaster for good measure

Also, why? Zelda has been talking all this goddamn time, and now because she is the player character, we have the stupid "Everyone repeats what you just said because you didn't say it on screen" - trope. Makes me think if Link is really a canonically mute character, or if he talks like everybody else when he's not controlled by the player. It's such silly, by this time obnoxious and outdated design and I'm genuinely starting to resent it. Just let Zelda have her textbox for fucks sake, the world will continue existing I promise.
I know there is a good reason for her not to talk during the game, being undercover and all. But it just feels so hamfisted man. The literally ONLY reason why she gets imprisoned in the first place is because the game design makes her LITERALLY UNABLE TO EXPLAIN HERSELF. It's an insult to the character's intelligence, after like 200 games establishing her as a smart, thoughtful and eloquent character. I really hope this trope dies out one day. Sorry for the rant. it's really not as big of a deal as I'm making it. Just, venting is fun. thank you and have a nice day.

@@DragonClapper1855 i don't mean the king and ministers, imean the soldiers imprisoning/guarding her. They are first shown as INCREDIBLY loyal to zeld, some outright simping for her. Then they talk literally 20 meters away from the cell, "oh wow, zelda made all these rifts? who woulda known? yeah fuck zelda amirite?
and why does this happen? Because Zeld does not talk a SINGLE DAMN WORD to the royal guards. She is unable to speak, which is because the designers made her mute, because she's the player character. And I can only shake my head at nintendo stubborness at this point. It worked with link because he NEVER speaks, but Zelda usually ALWAYS speaks, and uses her goddamn authority and reputation as a princess. Mute character works for Link, doesn't work for Zelda.
Also don't worry about my wellbeing, I'm literally jus talking abt a video game, and the game is great as well so who gives a fuck :D

God that theme song the game had as he was exploring Hyrule put a tear in my eye. I went to the park while hearing Vinny play this and I felt it in my little silly melpert heart, its like The Shrine theme...

Feels kinda the same as Link's Awakening remake. It's a shame but it's not that distracting. I've only noticed it when exploring the over world and not in fights. Would probably run fine on new hardware

This game is so incredibly cute
The question about eating echo food is partially answered by the game itself. Later in the game a Goron needs a rock roast, and if you give him an echo instead of the real thing the dialogue is slightly different, something like he's no longer hungry but it wasn't very filling.
Same with another guy and the Grilled Fish echo.

I'm so glad Vinny finally played it, even if only for a while. I remember when the game first became well known and everyone was losing their minds over it (everyone who played it or watched a playthrough at least), so seeing it again was a treat that brought back some good memories.

I've so far been having ton of fun with this game and Keylocker (even if Keylocker can be too 'puny' at times). And now Metaphor and Bloomtown are coming out, there's just way too much stuff coming out this month.

That Dev _does_ seem to be hinting that the fight will change in a later update at least.

I'm about halfway through, the menu isn't really ever an issue, most of the time you'll need the same few echoes in one area, if you need something niche you can just press a different immediately available button to get the full grid instead, or if you want the newest one you just got just go to the left to wrap to the end of the list

Frame rates are usually one of the least problematic problems in a game.
@@BaldorfBreakdowns Depends on the type of game, but yeah. For an First Person Shooter, framerate affects latency which has a cascading effect on basically everything else. For Zelda? No, not really.

Also, they got Zelda's nose wrong in her wanted psoter. Very 'flynt Rider'.
That section with needing to pull the statue off the shield was so confusing, but overall good game design because it teaches you about being able to pull Dark Link's shield off.
I get what you mean, but I personally didn't find it all that confusing. I think most people don't REALLY get into the mindset that Bind works on literally anything you can target, and that there are no times where you don't have access to all of your abilities. I think this is the first time you can use your sword underwater in a Zelda game.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio that early in the game, binding isn't used much. Summons are the big focus, there isn't much chance to experiment with binding random stuff. In general, the game feels a bit like a mish mash of decent ideas that don't always fit. Like the whole wind up contraptions felt unnecessary, didn't really fit beyond a theme of minions.
@@LemonSk8 The fact that you don't get the automatons until pretty late in the game doesn't help. Or at least potentially; I didn't go to Eldin until after literally every other dungeon in the game, meaning I'm almost finished with the game, and I only have ONE robot to work with because the material for the second design is in Goron City. I feel like I'm going to have to start the game over from scratch to get the most out of it.
@@LemonSk8 As far as how much you use bind, I was actually using it a lot in Suthorn Ruins because it's easier to rip off Deku Baba heads than to attack them, and you can hold enemies still while using Echoes to attack them. Like I said, you HAVE to get into the mindset - it's not that they aren't used much, it's that most players aren't using them enough.

Remember, Hyrule changes, so it's kinda neat to see ALTTP's Hyrule in a state of change, where some things are instantly recognisable, but others are new, or slightly in the wrong place etc.

today I ran into a glitch that removed the music. had to restart the game to fix it, but it's fine again. was a little bit of an experience to hear just the landscape and zelda's footsteps after hearing constant music.
Exact same thing happened to me after going into the well in Castle Town. Made it feel like BOTW.

There's actually a way to beat Link by walking in a circle around a wall until he loses you and then hitting him in the back
Baked in lighting is SO MUCH BETTER then dynamic. Especially in cell shaded games like Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Ray tracing is only REALLY an advantage in super high fidelity, ultra realistic art styles. Otherwise, it just makes everything look like plastic models. And in a game that already looks like plastic models on purpose, it's not worth the extra RAM cycles.
I wonder what a demake of this game on the Game Boy Color would look like, in the style of the original Link's Awakening DX.

Though, in my defense, I think I started using the technique in a cave, which I believe had low ceilings and thus wouldn't have been able to ride on top.

I too sometimes get annoyed with the constant complaints of frame-rate, but having played it myself now I GET it. You get immersed in the game and then the visual discomfort takes you out of it and it sucks tm.

At this point complaining about Switch framerates feels older than the hardware itself, even if it's warranted.
Specially coming from Vinny. He grew up in a time where even Super Mario Bros 3 would chug because of the amount of sh*t that goes on on screen.
I grew up with the snes and later a ps one so it doesn’t really bother that much. And yeah I’m surprised people are still complaining about it especially eight years in. You think people would just get used to it.
