Here on my channel, I am renovating a 250 year old stone cottage on my property in Normandy, France. By using traditional, low-waste and off-grid methods, I'm aiming to keep the charm and character of this old building, and turn it into a furnished, finished home for family whilst keeping environmental impact as low as possible. There will also be content on living in France, visiting beautiful rural places, hunting for antiques, gardening, and more! Hit subscribe if you would like to keep up with my journey, and hit the notification bell to be alerted when we go LIVE where we have a first viewing of the video as it is published with a live chat so I can answer all your questions! See you in Sean's World.
One of the things I love about your channel is that you don't drown out the natural sounds with music. I like music, but when I am watching renovations or gardening, I am happy with just hearing the sounds of tools, work, birds and nature. I don't need loud musical soundtracks. Thanks for the natural sounds, they are peaceful.
Awesome, thank you!
I absolutely agree.😊
I 100% agree! Some of the best TH-cam people with millions of subscribers play absolutely zero music. To me it's just a filler..... I skip over those parts and who wants to do that? Sean, you make great videos!
Love the natural sounds on the videos.
I thought I was the only one!
Great work Sean. And good to sit and enjoy what you've done in the garden as well. Love the sound of the bird life all around you.
You have to be strong to handle those stones. Your garden area is magical.
Thank you for the tour of your garden. I also like to hear the birds and the general life sounds. You are really easy to listen to.
Thank you so much!
I live in Calgary,Alberta Canada. I have told my family, after watching your channel, and numerous other I want to move to rural France or Normandy. Unfortunately, my health won’t let me, but I love the birds and the year round growing season. Keep up the wonderful work.
Hi Sean- I love hearing the birds being happy and singing. As for the Food Forest Garden , that is a wonderful idea ! You have plenty of space and it has a lot of potential. :D Go for it !
Ive had this video on x2 speed and loop all day, hope this helps x
Thank you 😊 yes it does Nailah
You do great carpentry and masonry work! I love the forest garden!
Every time I see stone steps, I now appreciate them in a whole different way and that's because you've taken us from hunting and searching, to digging out, to packing and filling and then enjoying the results with you. Thanks!!
The bird song was magical
It's lovely to see how you both enjoy your lovely home.
I sure appreciate your love of nature Sean. No chemicals is such a blessing! To look at your lovely garden setting and the cats enjoying themselves outside, a good start to my day!
Im interested to see how the food forest develops. You are so respectful of nature.xx
I learn so much with each video! Thanks again!
Great stone work
Thanks
I wish i could smell that honeysuckle. I had never heard of a food forest - what a wonderful idea. Best wishes.
I love the idea of the "food forest" that sounds and looks great working with nature instead of against it. Just subscribed to this channel. Have a great day
Awesome! Thank you!
Love the food forest idea. Steps are looking great in the cottage 💚
The food forest sounds like a great idea - less work, more organic produce, more nature for wildlife! Win-win-win!
You're so handy Sean. My husband works hard as well but it's in the medical field (I am very grateful for all he does). He never steps outside unless he is getting into his car. My dad was just like you. He would be a 100 if he was still around. Blessings to your family.
Hi there 😊
Nice to see the Kitties are enjoying the garden too.
It's a pleasure to watch you rework stone and other items to your purpose.
You have put so much thought into your yard, garden, and cottage !!
It’s absolutely beautiful and amazing !
Oh !
I’m upstairs in my room watching you -as I am today, my parakeet is just chirping away !
I guess he’s saying hello to all his
“ French Friends!”
Thank you so much!
No problem would love to watch another video after this one
That's nice ☺️
If I lived there my wife would be over by the fence making friends with the neighbors' cows. :)
Tell your wife I’d be doing exactly the same thing. We obviously know how to spend our time well.😊
Such a peaceful and Unique garden you have. ❤
This is my dream to have a permaculture food forrest.
Me too
I keep my rural retirement property natural as well. I do have rescued chickens, ducks & goats + gardens & orchards, pastures & woods on my 12 acres... The chickens & ducks do free range @ times which helps with pests & everyone contributes to fertilizing. No chemicals, poisons, or toxins of any kind.
Sounds wonderful ❤

@@athomeinfrancewithsam837 I think so! It's a lot of work but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Sean, I have been enjoying your videos. Thank you for telling us about your food forest garden plan. I have never heard of this. I am going to research this for my home in Ohio!
I really like watching the home improvements that you show us! Can't wait for the next one!
Sean, my husband and I love your NY hat. We live in Upstate NY, in the heart of the Finger Lakes. Most people, when they hear we live in NY, think we live in the city. Definitely not! We’re 6 hours from the city and while I’ve visited NYC many times, my husband never has. I grew up on a family owned small farm and spent my summers on the hay wagon. We live out on the country now, with no close neighbors. We love both your channels and never miss a video. Thank you for all you do. 💜
Thank you 😊
Where you live and grew up sounds lovely. I live about thirty to forty minutes outside the city. My town used to have plant nurseries, orchards and even a small farm or two near it when I was young. I never cared for the city. You could get to the city for Christmas, museums or work but it felt almost like you were in the country. Unfortunately, the city is coming to us… and the taxes!!! 🤯 Plus, we can’t even have a bird feeder since our neighbor threatened to sue!🤪 😂🫣😂
@@coletteretif6316 that's bonkers
@@Seans_World Yes, it is! Also, a friend of ours who is also a lawyer specializing in property law said they had a good chance of winning the case. We might also have had to pay for their lawyer and damages for the “loss of use of their patio (due to bird poo I guess). It was only one, just one tube feeder with just four feeding holes! It is bonkers in “my neck of the woods”. They are the same neighbors who blocked the town from giving us a permit to build a backyard fence our (154 pound) dog. Now we only have that ugly construction and deer fencing. Luckily, Finbar respects it. 😅
We are losing all of our freedoms because people are so afraid of everything.Good luck!❤
I am so glad to see that the sun is finally shining for you. 😊
Very beautiful episode!!! Thank you all! Be well, stay safe.😊❤
Thanks for the walk through and the food forest plan. Wonderful idea. Love the birds singing away whilst you’re talking to us. Lovely to see the cats out in the sunshine
Humidity!! Humidity is definitely no fun!
I live in Nebraska; originally from New Mexico.
I’m still not used to the humid weather ! It just drains the energy out of you!
I give you a lot of credit for working as hard as you do !
I love your approach to the cottage !
Reuse and redo !!
Your food forest is an awesome and inspiring idea. Looking forward to seeing it come to fruition! Thank you for another great video Sean!
What a wonderful stone hidden in the conglomerate
Love the idea of a food forest! Thank you for this! 😁🇺🇸
Your property is beautiful Sean and Sam! Happy to see you enjoying some sunshine finally. Have a good weekend. 🙏❤️

Thank you 😊
Brilliant Sean and family ! Food forest !
I made a flower bed with all my leftover seeds mixed together! Should be fun to watch it grow and bloom!
Sean, the stone steps look awesome.
The food forrest is an awesome idea. I look forward to seeing you do it. Your garden looks fabulous. Love the willow teepee. Those kitties are adorable. Mine is long haired. I had to hide his favorite toy cause I had to sweep the house 6 times a day.😂
Your videos are always great. I make sure I am still subscribed and like each one. ❤
Thanks 👍 Peter
Sean I wouldn’t put any walls inside as the place is tiny and lacking back windows. Good job on the stairs, really nice work.
The food forest is going to be awesome! And I'm happy that the willows took root and are covering that little nook. The kitties are getting so big, they really aren't kittens any more.
Sean, I love your idea for the food forest. I think it’s great that you are going to do that. Sam will be a big help, she’s got a green thumb for sure.
The food forest garden is an amazing concept. I love the idea. Your yard is beautiful. I love the hidden paths through it.
Such a beautiful garden Sean, I’m green with envy. Thanks for showing us the willow area, I was hoping you would show us. 😊
Put in a railing instead of a wall. Which wouldn’t take up any space compared to a wall. A food forrest sounds a wonderful idea Sean.
Hi everyone 🥰
How are you?
Good thanks, and you?
Hi Sam 🥰
Hi Sam 🥰
I just bought land to make my own food forest!
Have a beautiful weekend an stay safe
What an absolutely beautiful acre you have. I could spend some very happy hours in your gardens.
Count your blessings, Sean. It's 35°C (95°F) in Philadelphia, PA (USA), today and about the same for about two weeks. Ugh! Certainly, those stones can be a challenge, but you know how to handle them. Good grief, you do fine work.😊
Your garden is already beautiful but your plans will make it amazing. I will look forward to watching it develop. ❤🐨
Love your bird sounds there. All your work well be worth it Sean. Bit late today watching.
Glad you enjoyed it
"The Dutch Farmer" channel has great tips for creating food forests.
Interesting concept of a garden forest, looking forward to seeing it evolve.
Tom sure does have two green thumbs! Sam as well!
The stone steps are really taking shape. I found your explanation of the pad really easy to understand and it all made so much sense. Your gardens are absolutely lovely, Sean. I remember you planting the willow rest area, which is looking great. It is going to be a real treat going in there. Happy summer solstice Sean and Sam. 🌞
Food forrest is a nice concept we also looked into. So much fruit trees you already have! An almond tree is awesome, need to put that on the list. 😀👍
Definitely
Always enjoy your explanations, Sean. Nice work making that stone fit! The steps are looking great! Love the birdsong in the background! We have had a lot of rain in PA too, and it is hotter than blazes. Pace yourself, and stay hydrated! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
Thanks Betty
Hey Sean, thank you for explaining the stones in the floor. I love your food forest, what a wonderful idea. It's hard battling the insects, but I completely understand not wanting to use pesticides. I just love your land and everything you are doing with it. Hi Sam. Love from N.Y.
Sean you asked about watching another after this one? I'll keep it simple YES, YOU BETCHA.🙂
Thanks 👌 😊
The strawberry plants look huge!
Another great video Sean - your garden is beautiful as it is - so it'll be interesting to see your Forest Garden transformation - another Sean (from another Channel) is also working on his Forest Garden. Love those bird Songs 😍
Just watch the mint planted in the garden. It can be very aggressive. Sounds a wonderful productive concept “in hormone with nature”.
Yes 👍
Wow I’ve never heard of a forest garden. If anyone can do it Sean Sam and Tom can ! The steps are looking marvelous Sean.
Thanks 👌
I watch Shawn James and he did a forest garden…… amazing videos, he is in Canada.
The steps do look smashing don't they.⚒️
Sean, don't forget to research into "companion planting" to maximize the benefits of the interdependence of the plants.
Yes corn bean squash three sister principal is probably the best known
What a marvelous idea, Sean! I love what you're planning & in the process of creating, a food forest!! It's going to be such an interesting & important project for your family & indeed, your property. I'm very excited to follow along with you to see your progress over time! Already you have an abundance of various fruit & other trees that make a lovely backdrop for future companion plants!! Blessings to you & your family!! 🇺🇸
Thanks so much!
Any wall you design _-will be grant…the uniqueness of all your projects attest to that
Sean you are such a hard worker. Your gardens are so natural looking and a peaceful place to relax. Well done.
How nice that cats and kittens have a playground. Do they stay there all the time?
No indoors aswell
@@Seans_World thanks Sean.. Hello to Sam grandma and adult kids ❤️
I really enjoyed the garden tour. Thank you.
Love the food forest project. I’m starting my own journey of something similar but on a much smaller scale, as I live on a small suburban block. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress.
I'm really enjoying this channel. Doing on a budget, has got to be my favorite thing to do. Waste not want not. I also love growing my own food, and your garden is looking wonderful. Carry-on with the great work.
Love that!
Good morning
Good idea😊😊😊
Have a lovely weekend Sean and Sam...nice blue sky, pass it along my way.❤😊
Will do
I loved this video! That’s pretty much the type of garden I’ve had over the years in suburban NYC. You have to squish the zucchini, tomatoes etc… in wherever there is room and sunshine. Usually, that means between my perennials. That’s OK because certain vegetables are pretty in their own right. 😊
Hi Colette
Your garden is looking stunning 💕
You should get some ducks and chickens. Can't beat a fresh egg.
Definitely, unfortunately l don't have the time at the moment due to family commitments
Great stairs, they look original!
Love the stone steps Sean.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Try purple potatoes. They are easy to grow and delicious. Love seeing the kitties.
Love the new landing in the cottage :) just the right size of room needed :) I love the idea of your food forest what about raising the beds up to future proof make it easier to access? I have tried to get mgmt to do this where I live as some residents are older than me. Being self sustainable is a great idea for yourselves and your family :) #letsgetSeanto100K
Sean and Sam I had a thought. Tell me what you think. What about putting the doorway into the kitchen on the seating side of the cottage. That way you could have a U shaped kitchen, and you wouldn't have to have a door either. You'd still be able to have half walls on both sides.
Possibly it's flexible at the moment.
Thank you for listening. Keep up your fantastic work. ☺️
Food forest. I'd never heard of it before, but I like it. You're right to want to grow without all the pesticides and other things to enhance the growth. I'm all for it and I'll be looking forward to see how your garden grows.
The willow rest is beautiful
This place will be gorgeous . I cant wait .😃
Hi Sean you have some interesting project's on the go ☕🍰👍🤗
Have a wonderful weekend 🤗
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Nice. Great garden, I feel like you're missing an opportunity to make the pond useful for growing more diverse food... consider a few fish you could grow in it naturally and then harvest and eat. My silly thoughts. I'm really not sure if your location is ideal for what I am talking about. ❤ Love your honeysuckle and foxglove is a fave. Best to yall.
Fabulous work and progress. Wonderful to see lovely Sam!😊❤
Always good to see experience and intellegence---and sesitivity---working together. Thank you. Incidentally, folk around me here in France say that stone-fruit trees, like peaches, bear well one year in two.
I like the idea of a food forest 😊 always enjoy watching your videos ❤
Lovely idea you have planned for the garden. Yse Bay trees grow very fast I am always trimming mine. Nice job on the step Sean . The kitties are growing very fast now. Thanks for sharing Sean😘
So glad you know what youre doing because I'm so lost. I'm anxious to see all the steps in place then I'll understand the things you do and why. Thanks Sean
Looks and sounds wonderful 🥰 growing your own I find so rewarding 🥰🥰
What a beautiful life you have Sean and beautiful wife.
Hi lovely variety of trees, thank you for sharing 😊
You have a beautiful garden. ❤
Nice hat Sean.
From upstate NY.
Lol
