I just wanted to add a comment to this regarding those white pins and grey grommets (see ~ 19:10). Those are used to align the bumper/grille with the headlights. The grommet is meant to stay attached to the headlight unit, but the white pin is fixed to the bumper. Often these grommets break the tabs in the headlights and remain attached to the bumper. I only found this through a lot of video searching and a few Mazda parts diagrams.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video - this is EXACTLY what I need! I have to replace the driver side chrome and that facia piece on my daughter's cx-5. I watched the video read all the comments, and understand that there are rivets holding the facia to the grill and that you had to drill them out. Can you talk about the number and size of the rivets? Did you get the replacements rivets from the dealer? And how did you put the new ones in - with a rivet gun? Any info you could provide on the rivets would be appreciated.
Thanks for the video! Really appreciate you saved me a lots of time it really help me a lot. the piece above the grill it took me more than a hour to remove it pain in the ass but then again Great video
Ahhh man. Sorry it took you so long. I guess that is part of the "fun" working on cars. ;) Take a look around on the channel, you may find some more stuff you like or need.
Thanks for this video. Have to replace my front grille, because a chunk of rubber bushing came flying down the highway, and struck in front of my car. Lucky not the windshield it will be dam costly.
Thanks for the video . I want to replace my passenger headlamps because of an accident - this requires removal of the front bumper/grill assembly. It doesn't look too complicated. Thanks again!
@@andrewespinoza4679 I had to do this while replacing my grill. I was surprised at just how fragile the screw mounts were on the back of the chrome pieces are. It's no wonder they break so easily as they are only plastic welded at the edge of the piece and down in the basin of the piece. I took JB Weld and glued them all back on to the chrome piece. Also, I had several fractures on each side. Makes me wonder a lot about the crappy engineering of these item. I am considering a guard on the front.
I really appreciate this video as it helped me a lot, but what if I forgot to pay attention to where the screws and fasteners went? 😢 im putting it bqck together and im lost.
I had a question. I am trying to replace my left lower chrome molding and I was wondering if you had to do a recalibration of the front facing sensor? I was told I would have to at a collision center. If you didn’t, how did you work around that?
Hi@@initialspeed My friend have same problem, left molding is broken and need to be replaced both, collision center says recalibrated sensors is needed. Price is 800. How can we know if this model have front facing sensor? The model is 2019 Mazda CX5 TOURING. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for sharing this experience. I am going to be replacing the front fascia part because someone did a hit and run on my CX-30. It looks basically the exact same as the CX5's. I bought the fascia piece and the rivets from the dealership. Total was $125 after tax. Which is significantly less expensive than the quote I got from the body shop to repair and paint that part. So I'm going to DIY pretty much like you did. I did not see how you got it off in the first place in your video. Maybe I missed it. But I imagine in order to get the rivets out you would have had to center drill them out. And they seem like they are basically a pop rivet. So I got the rivet squeezer. Did you have any sort of difficulties taking that piece off other than the rivets? Also did you have any issue with the emblem, I heard that replacing that piece the sensor inside there must be recalibrated.
Thanks for the video man! I do have a question tho. Some of my bumper clips did break, do you think I'll have issues do this? Or I shouldn't even attempt?
How long does it take to remove and reinstall??? I backed into a Mazda3 and cracked the plastic chrome and they are saying it’s $1500! I have also heard it takes 3 hours to remove and reinstall
Id say that is takes about 3-5 if its your first time. But some that know what going on can get it done in about half that for sure. thanks for watching
Their is a lot of clips some hidden just keep at it you'll get it . One tip you can try is once you've un clipped the part just wedge a piece of cardboard to keep the part from re cliping back together. Hope that helps
I need a neighbor like you! This is exactly what I need done. Nice job 👍🏽
Lol.
We all need a nice neighbor.
Glad you liked this video. Look around the channel, you might find more you like.

The chrome piece is what I needed to replace on mine and this helped!
Happy that we could help.

Thanks so much for the video! I should have watched this first to gain a better understanding of the top part of the grill.
Keep coming back, you never know what vid is next. :)

You definitely can do it. Good luck
I wish you would’ve showed how the chrome assembled together someone backed into mine yesterday 😢
I have it .but it would of made the video really long.
they just clips and screws holding it in place .
Sweet thanks tons brother will be doing this tomorrow morning

Thanks bro. I got the bumper off and thought “fuck, I need a video”. This was a bitch of a project.

We didn't have to recalibrate because our model was not equip with that sensor.

I need to replace just the front facia trim piece would I still need to remove the entire bumper also how did you remove those rivets? Thanks
Yeah you'll need to drill out the rivets but if your trying to remove the chrome pieces then just held in with screws and clips .
@@initialspeed What did you replace the rivets with?
Hello, can you tell me if I can easily remove the chrome part if I remove it in the bumper?
Their are screws behind it i would recommend removing the whole bumper to get to those parts.
I have a 2021 cx30, would the process to replace the front grill be identical to yours?
The vehicles are very similar and the concept is the same. Just take it step by step .
Where did you get your parts? I have the same car and trying to get those parts too for my bumper and emblem 😭
You can get thiem at the Mazda dealership parts department
where did you order the front emblem specifically for this grille?
I believe the dealership or the one that was on the old grill was good.
Don't remember at this point.
If I need to replace the driver-side chrome molding beneath the grill, do I still have to remove the entire bumper?
Sorry to say but yes you need to remove the bumper. It will be easier in the long run.
@@initialspeed Thank you for the insight!
Can you explain the reason for the green tape? I'm about to do this on my 2023 CX5...
The Green tape is there so that you don't scratch the fender and headlights when removing/installing the bumper.
How did you remove the top painted piece from the old grille? Is it just pushing back the pins? Tks
The top piece has plastic rivets. One time use, so have replacement ready.
I’ve looked all over the place for the front emblem/ logo you put on. Do you remember where you got it from?🙏🏼
Direct from Mazda .. Parts counter

Happy to help out
whats the name and part number of the chrome piece. need to replace that on mine
Mazda (KD53-50-7J1A) but you should goto your local Mazda dealership and they'll get you the right part
Hey awesome video. Just wondering, if I were to replace the grille mouldings, would I have to take off the entire bumper, or just the bumper cover?
Yeah you should take it off ...I will make it easier
Thanks for the video man! I do have a question tho. Some of my bumper clips did break, do you think I'll have issues do this? Or I shouldn't even attempt?
Depends.
Is the bumper held on well?
Maybe get some new clips.
Let us know how it went.
Sorry for the delay in response. And thanks for watching
Does this include the 2023 model?
I'm sure it very similar

Can you do mine.
You didn't even show how to re-install the chrome part, which is what I needed to see. You didn't even explain what you did for it. 😠
sorry about that I its a clips and screws that hold it in, I tried explaining how to remove it and the install is just the reverse
