Having been comforted while sitting on the floor of my laundry room surrounded by mount washmore by two preschoolers wearing my tee shirts because they had no clean clothes, I understand your pain!!
This is one of the reasons that social media has had to take a real back seat in my life recently. Our minds were not designed to take in so much curated content about others. In order to focus on God and not get distracted by what others perceive as 'too much'/'dramatic', I need to focus on real connections with people I know in real life. Thanks again for sharing, Mary Beth, so encouraging ❤️❤️
I loved this video! It resonated with me on so many levels. 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer… so the past 3 years have been particularly difficult. So many people have told me that they have been encouraged by the fact that I have been real about the struggles, yet have pointed to the hope that we have in Jesus in the midst of the struggle. Yet, I have been told by others that by honestly sharing about my struggles, that somehow I have not been standing in faith. I think when we go through things, we minister more to those around us by them watching the Lord work in the hard times instead of pretending that everything is fine! For some people who are unwell and struggle with energy, a basket of laundry or clutter that has been building up, can be a real challenge, so I’m thankful for your encouraging content! Keep on keeping on! Blessings from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
I have to be careful who I share with. Some people will jump on me like Job's friends. Homemaking is a huge challenge that some people don't understand. I'm glad you're back. ❤
I love the comment about the struggle bus. My mom died almost 3 weeks ago after a 2 week hospital stay. She was not only mom but best friend, housemate and my caregiver. Im trying to figure out a complete new reality and each day has yet another challenge. Leaning heavily on my faith and friends and family. The drama is real😔
We are humans after all. We have all the emotions and we come to communities like this for empathy and support. This is a safe place to be ok, how ever you're feeling. Thank you Marybeth for keeping it real!
Amen. We need to share with each other. Sometimes, it gets dark. One of my darkest nights was in the hospital last spring, not knowing if my husband will live or be disabled due to a sudden brain bleed. Thankfully, we are on the other side and he is healing. But the dark was real. I'm a believer and know that in in the dark, God was there.
Many of us have experienced such dark nights of the soul that we are driven to our knees incessantly in desperation. All you have to do is read proverbs to see we are in good company.
2 Cor. 1:4 …so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ❤️amen! Sadly, I think many suffer alone bc they don’t want to be a “burden” to others. We are called as believers to bear one another’s burdens…Gal. 6:2
Unfortunately the negative commenter may not know the original source of this phrase… St. John of the Cross in the 16th century wrote about this. Along with the most recent C. S. Lewis ❤️ Well clarified!!
YES! “Dark night of the soul” is definitely a phrase from church history! I remember first hearing about it in spiritual formation class in college. I’m glad I did learn the term then, because when I went through my own very dark valley a few years later, it helped me feel less alone. I think maybe the original poster is focused on judging. I will pray for them because I’m not sure that Jesus would have criticized the same thing in the same way. Appreciate you, Mary Beth!! It is obvious that you seek God and follow Him, and we are blessed by what you share!
Good to see you back, Mary Beth. You speak with heart, empathy, and emphasis, not drama. I enjoy and appreciate it. No need to change or add any filters. We'll all keep fighting the good fight, together. 🤗🤗🙏🙏
Psalms is really “guilty” of drama. I was typing this and you started talking about it. Good job! I am always astounded by people who know what a Christian is, not just gave an opinion, but “know”. Honest to Peter Rabbit… People exist so much of their life thinking they are the only one experiencing or who has ever experienced something or another. Not a one of us is the Lone Stranger and no one knows that unless we share.
I love this video. We are human. We have times of questioning. we have hard times in life and we need to step back sometimes and regroup. I think this is something that should be talked about. Perhaps that honesty would help many people who find themselves in a dark night of the soul.
I wonder if it was my mom that commented that. She claims to be a Christian but is very much only wanting to show a perfect life to the world. She's very much about not talking about your feelings or struggles. Make up on, dressed nice before you leave the house is a must. It took me going through an abusive marriage and a dear friend helping me realize the truth. My relationship with God is so much better now. My relationship with my new(8years together, 7 married] is soo much better because of it too. Was hard to leave my ex husband but he isn't a Christian and never will be.
My mantra: no matter what…. God will take care of us. Even when things don’t work out the way we want, they always work out some way. I always think, God has a better plan. God is good.
well said. The dark night of the soul is a traditional phrase for Christians going back to at least the 1600's..... It has been the basis for many deep writings, like that of John of the Cross.
I have missed you. Thankful that you are vulnerable. That is not being a drama queen, that is being honest. God wants us in relationship with Him and with each other. The only way that honestly happens is with honesty. Keep fighting the good fight.
I wonder if that commenter doesn't realize that "dark night of the soul" is an actual phrase to describe a real thing? Yes. It sounds dramatic. Because it is. And so very real.
I have a scripted AI chat bot running in my head. It speaks scripture that I memorized as a child. And when those dark, dark days come, sometimes parroting that AI chat bot of scripture is the only way to get through the day. If this then that. I guess to understand a dark night of the soul, you have to have a dark night. You've helped me understand that clinging to things isn't going to fix what I lost. But clinging to Christ will. Cue the AI chat bot...
Thank you for talking about the hard stuff. If you didn’t, you’d be another you tuber only showing the highlight reel of your life, making the rest of us feel like big ‘ole losers when we are struggling
YES and AMEN, you are so right and you go with your sanctified self! Great word for many of us! Thank you.
Well stated using great analogies. Yes, Christians have low moments, and that is when the world is watching as to how the low moments are handled.
It’s so true, it’s easy to have faith when everything is going our way.
You are courageous, Thank you❤️🤗🙏🏼🥳❤️
Having been comforted while sitting on the floor of my laundry room surrounded by mount washmore by two preschoolers wearing my tee shirts because they had no clean clothes, I understand your pain!!
Why does that sound so cute and wholesome and yet mount washmore would be … stressful imaginably

So true! All things in moderation and face to face connection is key!
Lovely and so true. So easy to lose focus on our values

Great video. I'm sorry that someone said something so cruel. Your ministry is amazing!

I find that knowing that others have gone through certain things makes me feel less alone.

I have been checking almost daily to see if you posted a new video. I’m happy to see you again.
Thank you! You know the struggle bus has a permanent stop at our house. 😂

I am thankful the comments are almost all positive, but the occasional negative comment is a great opportunity to learn. 😁💕
