One thing I have to say is that in winter I get so tired of wearing the same 2 or 3 jackets over and over again. There was a couple of years when I didn't want to look at my gray wooly jacket. I'm back to loving it again, but it was a close thing.

Thank you for the motivation and advice! I declutter constantly, one item today, three items tomorrow, and yet I still have so much “stuff!” Getting things out of the house feels so good!!!

I keep finding more and more to move along 🧅 in every area of our 900 sq foot condo. 😂Minimizing in the kitchen and boys room (both toys and clothes) has been the most impactful. Having the first 2 grandchildren on both sides of our family units means LOTS of thoughtful gifts on every “no-occasion” and celebration. I’ve had to let go of the feeling that my little ones have to wear (and I have to store!!) every outfit we receive from grandparents and great grandparents. Sometimes I’ll put them in the cute baby clothes for pictures then… the next week they’re too big for it! Especially my 4-month-old who’s already in 6-9 months sleepers! I’ve got my containers and whatever I keep needs to fit in there. I’m also pondering playing the numbers game with how many of each clothing category we keep in the dresser for each boy (eg. 5 of each - tees, pants, pjs). What do you think about that idea?

I kept a weeks worth of outfits for the week (including Sunday), two pairs of dress shorts and two different dress shirts for church, five sets of pajamas (we were still night time potty training) one swim suit, a pair of sneakers, a pair of church shoes, and a pair of sandals. I also did the same for winter (so long sleeves and pants b/c GA only has two seasons-hot and less hot.) I did their laundry on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And I only stored that amount for the next size up out of hand me downs. And when we got clothes as gifts we tried to swap out anything that was getting worn or outgrown, and started asking for more consumable items. But you just gotta surrender trying to get grandparents to do stuff differently. It takes time for them to get it. 😁

Depends on the child. When my were really small (milk comes out EVERYWHERE and it smells) 10 was our number. Now I still aim for it because they like to chose (4 and 5), but probably 7 would be enough.

Depends on the size of the washing machine. No point in running it half full.

Hi Mary Beth. I really like your hair length and you look healthier. Thanks for helping me with all your ideas for decluttering. My home is much better now.

Omg ! Brilliance Mary Beth , keeping enough dishes for 2 meals but making sure they fit in the dishwasher at the same time .ive gotten rid of duplicates, small appliances not using extra pots and pans recently got rid of anything that couldnt go in the dishwasher ( what a time saver) highly recomend that . However i feel this is the final puzzle piece for my kitchen ! Cant wait to try it out . Awesome !

Don't people have guests. If I have family over I will need 4 times the amountvof china, larger serving dishes and so on
But I keep the extra in my larder, not filling the day to day kitchen cabinets

@@joannacurran8475this was just for our everyday dishes. We have China and serving dishes in the China cabinet for guests. 😊

Thanks for the sentimental item suggestions - this is so hard for me! I agree with the cleaning products - off to ditch a few!! I have just gone thru the closet and gotten rid of clothes!

Great video! I also appreciate the audio is better at volume shifting. I find that makes it easier to focus. As a book loving PK Teacher I appreciated that you made the decision to remove the excess books. I ended up removing almost 2000 books from my own collection. I LOVED them, but the bottom line is that I could have easily borrowed them from the library, and children even more than adults need less visual clutter. A tough lesson, but ultimately created peace. Not to mention that my donations benefitted those schools and teachers who really needed them. Free resources are miraculous benefits to free up our home, mind, and spirit. Everything is easier now too ❤ God bless 🙏🏻

I fear getting rid of toys for my kids because we homeschool and i want options for entertainment that are screen free but I'm realizing its just so much to manage and i spend less time with my kids that i desire due to tidying up all the stuff.

      @TheAtWhatCostBlog  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I was afraid that too. But they have actually been more creative, developed better problem solving skills, and spent more time outside since we reduced their toys.

It's a constant reevaluation. I keep a donation box and declutter regularly but after seeing your video, I can definitely get rid of more things that are not being used. I like you mentioning various categories to consider.

I understand that we all have far too many things but do not understand, assuming we have the space, throwing out towels and similar the quality is much lower these days and they will store in plastic bags or similar and be available when the current ones get stained, wear thin etc.
Having excessive number of toys is stupid in the first place.
I am sorry that my mother did not keep some of my painting, hobby makes etc.

I agree with you on the quality of towels, 20 year ago they were made to last a very long time....now not so much!!
